Ken can you antique with acrylics or does it need to be lacquer for the best results??
Lacquer has just been my preference for this step because it dries faster
@@kstenzel2010 Thanks Ken....trying my first fish!
Thank you for making these informative videos. I recently moved to Florida and don’t know good lakes and rivers to fish at. Great video and keep up the good work sir.
Thanks for watching!
I just paid 624 dollars for a 25 inch LG bass and Damm I wish I knew how to do this
Hopefully you're happy with how your fish turned out. Thanks for watching
Sir what color paints did you use on this small mouth.
I'm sorry how did you get the bronze color
I plan on doing a more detailed SM Bass video in the future. Thanks for watching!
Man that’s pretty awesome . Just got back into fishing this year and heard they do replicas so you can still release the bass back . This looks so good
Thanks for watching!
One of the best jobs I've ever seen. I found a very old giant musky head mounted to a board with taxidermy eyes installed. For some reason it was never painted. I'm going to attempt it. I wish you lived next door. lol
Thanks for watching!
Baby loon one and baby loon 2: okay Mom
Mommy loon: okay let me give you the food one of you will eat it okay
Thanks for watching!
Soooo beautiful. Lovely finished replica. What color are you using to do the bars and the cheek and the stripes on the back?
I mix depending on ref photo. Usually black and brown umber, but don't be afraid of experimenting.
@@kstenzel2010 Thank you for the reply. Your work is incredible. I am doing my first bass replica in the next few weeks. So excited but a little terrified tbh! You are my inspiration!
Thank you so much for taking time to make these video's. They are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for watching!
I love watching your shows.
Thanks for watching!
Man you sure are a skilled painter, I was surprised at 3:59 when you took a risk and just sprayed it without tape on the edges
Thanks, it was much easier years ago when I was painting fish every day :) Thanks for watching!
Do you sell this?
No, but thanks for watching!
Bet it was fun.
It was! My wife won a drawing at a local car dealership, but I went in her place.
I'd really like to end the day with a thumb like that.
It was a memorable day! Thanks for watching!
What lake were you on ? Do you live in central Fl ?
Check out one of my other videos where I tell my favorite lakes: th-cam.com/video/7EvN-0m-5zw/w-d-xo.html
@@kstenzel2010 I watched that one already of course !
Mr. Stenzel, Would you by chance have a video for Rainbow Trout?
Not yet, but thanks for asking and for watching
When are we going on a fishing trip to Florida.
Hardly "step-by-step," which requires considerable more detail.
Possibly in the future... Thanks for watching!
Mommy loon:❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks for watching
Can u buy the mod in Australia
I don't know, but thanks for watching
Baby loon 1: I want the food!! Baby loon 2: I want it I want it baby loon 1:😂😂😂😂😂 baby loon 2:😭😭😭😭😭

What is that aleginate stuff ? If you dont mind sir
Same material dentists use to make impressions of teeth, available from many different suppliers.
I wish you would have made these video's 30yr's ago.
I wish I was 30 years younger! Thanks for watching!
Best mold instructions I’ve seen so far. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
This is a great video series!! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
I love small mouth bass it’s my favourite fish Will you be painting a smallie ?
Me too! I have an older SM Bass painting video, but may do another (better) one in the future.
How did Lake St. Clair not make your list???
It made #1 on my Top 5 Musky lakes video. Just don't have the personal experience there (yet) for Smallmouth.
6 lb average ? Hot damn, nice fish.
Only wish I lived closer... Thanks for watching!
What are your favorite smallmouth baits and the presentations you use with them (as a future video) ?
I have a lot of different presentations for different bodies of water and seasons. Perhaps I will discuss on a future video. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!
We would camp every weekend and oh my gosh we would catch 3 and 4lb smallmouth all day long !
Good times! Thanks for watching!
When we lived in oconto we had a camper permanently in sturgeon Bay
That sounds nice!
I have caught giant bass over 10-12lbs in the winter haven chain and several 10-14lbs bass out of saddle creek… My biggest was 29.5” long and 24” in diameter caught in saddle creek… Never reported any of them but have been in the paper for a few of them.
Those are huge fish! Congratulations, and thanks for watching!
Put Lac Seul on your bucket list. I fished it twice in the 90s and didn't catch a muskie, but the potential of a monster is there. It's very wild and remote. You could convince yourself that you're the first human to see a particular bay of the lake, but, of course, that's not true.
I'm well aware of Lac Seul. My buddy got a heavy 56 incher there. Just haven't had the opportunity to fish it myself (yet). Thanks for watching!
@@kstenzel2010 Good for your buddy.
Cant forget the Harris Chain.
Perhaps I should have made it a top 10 list!
Oh my gosh I cannot believe you are from my home area! You've got to be kidding. I'm originally from oconto Wisconsin. Move to Chattanooga 17 years ago. Have you ever fished shawano lake? I have bass fish that like a lot and have seen some huge muskie while fishing that lake
No, I haven't. Too much water and too little time to fish them all.
@@kstenzel2010 Amen to that, like I said it is a amazing lake with really really big bass in it
Thank you for sharing this information and locations. I have “only” got one Muskie in my life Maybe a 40” got it up to the boat 3-4 times and couldn’t get it in the net we were fishing for walleye. Got a Muskie net and never got another since
Musky fishing can be quite addicting! Thanks for watching!
Would really love to see you do a steelhead or large trout sometime
Thanks for the suggestion. I may do that
Your work is impressive Sir. Thank you so much for sharing this!!
Thanks for watching!
@@kstenzel2010 I don't do a lot of them and have a client that wants 3 done. If I said I wasn't nervous, I'd be lying hahaha
Nicely done, thankyou from Chattanooga TN
Thanks for watching!
Very informative video thank you so much. I could hear the hummingbirds fighting in the background, LOL
Yes, my wife loves her hummingbirds. Thanks for watching!
Hello Kevin where do you get your paint from ? I’m up in canada not sure where to get them
I get most of mine from McKenzie Taxidermy Supply. Thanks for watching
(That gold leaf metallic powder) I have never seen that before
I'm doing my first fish mount ever and this video series has been a huge help for me to get started. I wanted to know what your paper mâché recipe was that you use on your skin mounts. As well as the type of epoxy you use for mounting the eyes, covering tears, etc.
I get my paper mache from McKenzie Taxidermy Supply. Also use Apoxy Sculpt also available from McKenzie. Thanks for watching
Beautiful deer
We think so also! Thanks for watching
you are a true master, just awesome work!!! Thank you !!! ? Can you tell more about this 2 part automotive epoxy process , the results look amazing!
Thanks. I like to use a 2 part urethane gloss. Many different brands to choose from, but most automotive paint suppliers carry it. Follow mfrs instructions and spray outside unless you have a good paint booth as it is very strong smelling and not healthy to breathe. Best of luck to you!
Once again a brilliant video Kevin, I’ve been waiting for the finished product, and it doesn’t disappoint many thanks from the UK.
Thanks for watching!
thank u sir
Thanks for watching!
How do you mount the fish to the stand
Several drywall screws from the back side.
Great video!!! I have to say I have been waiting for this video to come out.
Thank you
I have a 2 question for you Do you have to clean the fish blank with lacquer thinner and then prime the fish? Or just the epoxy scalp areas ? And you said you use lacquer base paints for your antiquing. Then you used the white on the belly then went back to putting black on the back. Can you switch back and forth with the lacquer and acrylic paints? Thanks for doing these videos. They’re very informative.
Not a bad idea to get in the habit of cleaning a blank before painting, however have learned from experience that the lake county blanks come clean & ready to go. And mixing lacquer and acrylics have not given me any problems as long as previous layer of paint is completely dry.
Beautiful work man! love the videos. I've learned a ton
Thanks for watching!
