when I pressed f9 while rebooting, I wouldn't see the Windows EMS enabled option. It would only show windows and start normally. Once I launched that "changeHD" and let it do its work, once I rebooted it was finally there. I was desperate, so far no guide was helpful. Glad to find a solution by chance I was trying to restore my laptop to factory setting, and I was trying to burn dvds since my partion for recovery was there but not available....While trying to solve this further issue, this could have fixed the previous problem

Ran as admin, it did run & said drive letter assigned & partition active, etc...But when I run the recovery, it initially shows as successful (partition active/drive letter assigned), but then, after about ten secs, it goes back to, "partition does not exist"??

Bringing an old post back to life <G> I'm happy that it works for most people but I'm lost and frustrated. I had upgraded to Win 10 but was having trouble with a sluggish keyboard, so I F9'd and recovered to Win 7 Home Premium. But now I can't create recovery DVDs on an external DVD drive. Getting the Partition Doesn't Exist error. I've run ChangeHD as administrator. I tried safe mode. The DOS window flashes by but nothing changes. I even tried running ChangeHD in an elevated CMD window. It apparently executes because I don't get the "unrecognized command" error, but it simply returns to the prompt with no messages. (For what it's worth I did create a Win 7 repair disk.) Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

But dont have a AI recovery folder in my Asus folder. why is that?

i have tried to do that but it says the current logged on administrator does not have administrative priviledges. what happened? I have always used this computer under this username and password as an administrator

so long so good.. The 4 DVDs r intact :)

Okay I found out how to do it, I extracted the ChangeHD.exe to a new folder and I "Run as Administrator" but it seems to open & disappear.

how do i run into safe mode?

I cant get my system recovery discs at all. I am new at this, I have GW75 laptop nothing works for me

I don't have a file called "change HD" so what to do now?

If it doesn't open you don't need to open it in safe mode. Might as well run it as administrator. Right click "Run as Administrator" and that'll make it for you.

I click on the change HD icon and a window quickly opens and then closes and seems to do nothing.

hey jarabu930, I followed your steps and after running changehd.exe and ran ai recovery, the only option i get is 'slimtype BD E DS41ES' and the status is 'no enough free disk space to save temporary files.' is that cuz there's no space in my hard drive? do i need to get a black CD and it will work? thanks a bunch

I'm no expert but I don't think this program will work with windows 8

you can download that ai recovery software from their site...just enter the model of your laptop and what is the version of your OS (32-bit or 64-bit).

I've been trying to find this same file (changehd.exe) file so I can run al recovery. If someone can send me a link or the exe any another files it needs to run, would be greatly appreciated. Asus has been no help. My email is rcharlick81@gmail.com, Thank you!
