Thanks for the update, tri tip looks great!
Thanks
Great video! I gotta try that! I would make the scores about a 1/2 inch apart instead of an inch. And deeper. Gotta try that though! First time I've seen one of your videos. Please keep 'em about this long. Too many folks get high on themselves and want a half hour show. Ain't got time for that. Nice job!
Welcome, we're glad you found us, and yeah we try not to bore people with super long videos, lol! You should try it for sure! We have some other cream cheese ideas coming soon, ingredients are in the fridge, just need to find time to put them together. Stay tuned!
Coming up we are gonna have something special for y'all. Hintnits cream cheese related 😊
Next time try making it into a cheese ball! We added minced white onion, minced bacon bits, diced smoked garlic and a little W Sauce
that sounds truly magical, i'm pretty sure we are going to be doing more of these and that sounds great thank you for the idea!
🤤
It's SOOOOOOO good!
sweet moves
Root crops need soft soil, deeply dug. I had a nice harvest of sweet potatoes 2 weeks ago and they have cured out to be some sweet sweet potatoes. Funny that we both harvested into Home Depot orange buckets! Oh, and another thing...since the leaves are the sugar factories that make all the goodness that gets stored in the tubers, you really want to promote and protect as much foliage growth as possible.
All of that makes perfect sense! I really don't remember what was going through my head when I planted them back in the spring...at that point I may have just been ready to get them in the ground and didn't want to worry with tilling the bed! 🤣
@@ClumsyDogAcres Yup! That's the way it goes sometimes, when it comes to getting things in the ground. I had several garden projects this year that fell under the category of "just get it in the ground today!" All the best to you.
No idea what you're going to find? That's the fun of harvest with root crops!!
I am in the process of picking my sweet potatoes in Texas. Add bone meal ( phosphorus) to stimulate roots and flowers) Definitely remove the rocks for next year. I had grass invade half my bed so I need to investigate the impact.
Ahhh yeah they never bloomed, I'll definitely fertilize next year (I don't think I even put manure on that spot this year). And yes, cleaning out all those beds is on our winter to do list! Good luck with the grass, hopefully it didn't make too much impact!
You should watch millennial gardeners most recent video on sweet potatoes. He's says they thrive on neglect
Oh that's good to know! I'll pull that video up and watch it ASAP, thanks for the tip!
Have you tried using fire bricks instead?
I haven't, and honestly I haven't even considered it but thinking about it I don't see why that wouldn't also help stabilize the temperature a little more
LOL
LOL what a good dog!
He is the best boy!
Would glue traps work inside something like that?
I've tried glue traps inside them before, two things have happened. The first is they just put their toe in and then freak out and dont get stuck or the second is that it does work and it trapped them. Now I'm left with a live rat I have to dispatch on my own who I also have to free from the hole because hes half in and half out of the box 🤣😅
Does it need a little salt?
I prefer it with a pinch of salt, but I think I forgot it in the video!
Sir I want to commend you you were the first person not to put the bottom shelf upside down I have watched many of the videos on this product and even when I got mine I made sure I did not do the same thing everybody else did I think you and I are the only ones who put this shelf on the bottom the correct way instead of upside down keep up the good work and enjoy new Blackstone
Lol thank you, we are a rare breed. I did however put the handle on the wrong side though 😁😆
90% of the video is the guy.
Yep, I know its rookie numbers and next time we'll bump it up to be 95% to 98% Good call out, thanks.
The mighty zucchini 😂😅
I dehydrate my zucchini. I peel and seed it and then grate it. The antinutrients are in the skin amd seeds. Plus, it isn't very green and its more neutral tasting.
Oh that's a good idea! I'll try that on the next batch, maybe my little one will actually eat it if it's not green! 🤣
@ClumsyDogAcres I hope so! Kids are funny about green food, unless it's candy 😆
How is it toasted?
Good question that I don't really have an answer for. 🤔 I haven't tried to toast it by itself, but I did make a grilled cheese sandwich not long ago and my sandwich toasted nicely in a skillet just like a regular grilled cheese!
😂 you scared me when you said your target temp after putting the probe in the brisket was 250, then when I heard cook temp I let out a sigh of relief 😂
Lol oh yeah that would have been a bit too done 😆😂
Nice honest video.. I like the snake method and don't get a brisket larger than 12 lbs. I have never had an issue with adding charcoal. Good job!
Thanks for watching, check out our other videos. Have you ever took on a project you have vague knowledge about and made mistakes that seem so obvious but only after you made them??
Did a great job explaining. Hopefully you revisit.
Thank you, I've had some time to get a few cooks under my belt and taking the advice from @skewbertoescobaresq2327 if I keep my bottom vents all the way shut and top all the way open, then usually it will sit around 225 with very little fiddling on my part. As he pointed out the bro n sear does take up more room and limits the cooking chamber but I think i might be able to shrink its size down a bit with maybe some foil to give myself some more room. Stay tuned and once I've nailed it down I'll be sure to share.
😂😂😂
Thanks funny.I am Jamaican and they are hot..😂😂😂😂😂
Sweet lookin brisket Bro!
Thanks bro! Appreciate it! 👍
That brisket looks damned good!
It was outstanding!
Nice job of explaining the subtle differences, once you get comfortable with it, it'll be no problem. Also, one other thought on fire control and either the Bro N Sear or slow and sear, if you add a bit more depth to the coals, you can go longer without the back and forth. Obviously not too much more as temp control (keeping it low enough) becomes another issue.
I can't believe I didn't think of going deeper with the coals. Some times things that are obvious escape me lol thank you for the tip. I do think it will get easier just need to do it more.
Holes for those tomato trees your wife’s growing!
Which low and slow method do you prefer? Snake or a Bro N' Sear / Slow N' Sear? The more I think about this cook and what I did wrong the more I think I'm on team Bro N' Sear.
So you've never used a Slow N' Sear, but you're on team Bro N' Sear? Are you sure? 1/2 the cooking surface is unusable for slow smoking. The SNS is only 1/3 of the grill surface (with a water pan) and goes all the way up to the grate, so you have a much bigger cook area. It's stable with it's temperature and once you get the coals lit if you close the bottom vents and leave the top all the way open it stabilizes around 225f for roughly 6-8 hours with a full basket of lump charcoal (as long as you leave the lid closed). About the time you are ready to wrap you'll need to add more coals and then open the bottom a bit to get it rocking around 275f to push through the stall. I originally cut a piece of plate steel from Home Depot with an angle grinder to separate the coals into a hot zone and added a foil pan to serve as a water pan. I'm glad I bought the SNS as once I did a few test runs (smoking chicken) I was able to dial in how to get what temperatures and now I smoke everything from brisket and ribs to picnic shoulders with crispy skin. Hell I even reverse sear ribeyes over a ripping hot fire for the maillard reaction then put the steaks back in the fridge (stops the cooking process) and close the lid to get the fire to die down low so I can smoke them with hickory to medium rare. Not sure the BNS has the same versatility, it feels similar to what I was doing with the plate steel/foil pan. Not a bad way to turn your kettle grill into a smoker, but the SNS is leagues better IMHO
I agree with you that the sns is probably way ahead of the bns. The main point of the bns is it's only 25$. I've been doing the snake method since before time began and that's free. I think that the bns has opened my eyes to a different way to do it. And maybe I can convince the Mrs that I do "need" a 80$ sns lol 😂😄 Edit: she just agreed that with your comment we should review and compare the sns with the bns....so ty 😂😆
@@ClumsyDogAcres Getting the wife in on this is the true W, well done! Thanks for the vid, I'm not gonna buy the sns but I'm a lot more interested in the bns now.
I love surprises in the garden😊 and no rule gardening suits me.😅

They have so much fun harvesting potatoes! 😊
I harvested most of my potatoes. I have several types and put them in mesh bags or containers depending on the area. Some grew great loads. Others, very minimal. I'm going to grow in the ground for my next harvest and see the difference.
Awesome, do you try to mound and cover the green part as they grow up? We feel that we don't do a great job doing that and will usually only do it once or twice.
@ClumsyDogAcres I try to mound up several of them. Some worked great. Others, not so well. I'm trying several different methods for most of my produce to get an idea of what to grow and where. My yard is closed off with trees, and the house is set more than 100ft from the street) so I can use both the front and the back (gives me more room to try things.)
Clamps on correctly, oh look at this tree its so cool.
