How to Change the Oil on a 2010 Toyota Camry - entire process shown in HD
Excellent work
This is the most thorough oil change video on TH-cam. I was planning on using the oil filter drain nozzle that comes with the new filter but seeing how much oil still falls out when removing the filter housing, it doesn’t seem worth it
Thank you. Glad it helped.
Your instructions are superb!
I like your idea of using a splitter with a valve to adjust the flow. That way it does not create back pressure in the pump unlike these models with an internal flow adjuster. That's because the sum of the water flow coming out of both pipes is always the same. It's much better than using the speed controller because that device changes the voltage and you don't know if the pump is rated to work within the voltage range you changed. Unless specified in the specs of the pump but most pumps are just rated for 120V, it says nothing about being rated for anything below 120V. So, you don't know if it could damage the pump.
@@_el.guapo_ Thank you. True about the voltage.
Don’t forget to oil up the new seal
Great video. Just went through same scenario with my xc60 2013.
I plan on using this setup with a 16 ft trailer with 4 ft walls and a 12000 lb winch. Think I’ll be good? I’ll be hauling treee branches and logs
@@PowerThroughMusic I would think so. Good luck.
Man this is funny . I was having the same issue with my new pond setup and I thought to my self add a VFD variable frequency drive . To control the pump flow and a union slip ball valve . Well I’m looking some thing else up today and I see you have done the same thing . Great minds think alike I even have the same pump lol.
@@Maatson_ Love it! Haha
Great video. What size wheels?
How are you gonna keep the watwr out of it
Out of what? I don't understand your question.
I love how people make these sorts of videos and how they help others. My fan has done this just today. Im going to do exactly the same as you did. Thanks so much. Ben from downunder. Edit, I'm taking my chances and just replacing the module. 33 bucks on EBAY. Fingers crossed !
Thanks, and good luck.
Thank you, appreciate the great narration. This was at its best.
Thank you.
I have the same issue with my 2001 mercedes diesel w163 ML. New part is around £580 and a fan controller is £22. The volvo s80 fan controller has the same ratings as my ML but you can buy the ML controller as separate unit 😂
It’s super sketchy when doing a car like this because of how low it is to the ground 😂
Best review narration so far I saw. You covered all my queries, much appreciated 👍🙏
Thanks so much!
Very good job thakns my car do something like it l learned every day from you guys thank you very much
Thanks for commenting.
Has anyone tried this method on a 2012 xc60 3.2L? The spacing is very tight both in width and thickness of the fan. The framing under the hood curves in from both sides above the fan clips looking down. Finding it impossible to bend the assembly enough to make the squeeze/wiggle technique even with the tab cut, top radiator hose disconnected, and trans oil cooler unscrewed. Thanks in advance!
I have not specifically heard. Hopefully someone else will reply.
Do you have to drain some coolant before removing upper rad hose?
Thanks for the hack! does it have any inbuilt workout settings ?
Not that I know of
Brother, you're a great at explaining things. I really appreciate your approach to this video. The printed cut outs are huge for visual learners. Thanks so much for going above and beyond
Thank you. Sorry for the slow reply.
Oh my goodness THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for the easy to follow steps. We have had our boat cover draped across the top of the boat for a week now. We both have been avoiding putting it on the boat, it came with no instructions. Because of your video I was able to put the cover on without my husband, you made it so simple thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I appreciate you
You're so welcome! Thanks for the nice comments.
thank you for doing this. i came right over when I saw it's in the Costco holiday savings this yr from nov 18 to dec 2 for $699.99 and I don't need anything fancy. i just want to run
@@lolipena8051 You're welcome 😊
Me too, saw it in Costco ad. Excellent review! Thanks for taking the time to post a review.
Me too. Saved $300.
Great video but how did you start it without the key fob in the slot?
@@scottsutcliffe5001 I don't know if all Volvos of the age/model are the same, but it's not required. It's wireless. We were told that the slot is simply a "holder" with no additional functionality. You can have the fob in your pocket.
@@mikethedesertrat Got me all excited 'cause I hate that slot. Sadly, mine needs to be in the slot. Thanks for the response though,
Any tips on finding the plans?
Sorry, no. But I would think there are similar plans available by another designer if you have no luck.
Where is that fix?
@@harrymanback5817 I'm not sure I understand. I show the entire process.
I'm an electrical engineer and can help all understand why, probably, that first control unit failed and everything was great after you replaced the entire fan assembly (with 2 new fan motors.) Electrical motors have wound copper wires to make the magnetic fields which cause fan rotation. Those wires have coating, like insulating paint. Over the years, the heat and weather can wear down and corrode that varnish coating so some wires of the windings short together, which is bad. More amperage -- more current -- occurs but the motor still runs. Eventually the additional amperage exceeds the ability of the electronics (solid state or relay?) inside that "control module" so the module fails. In your first fix at the shop, they installed a new module but likely did not check the amperage going through your fan motors. Since the motors were bad (too much current draw) they soon destroyed your first new control module too, just like the current eventually destroyed the original. When you bought new fans (with a new control module) everything was back within specifications and design like new -- the fans pulled the appropriate amount of amperage, which the new module could handle fine. Now you know the WHYs of the failures you saw. Great video!
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for this nice explanation. I appreciate it.
Been doing this cheaper way
I've always said it since I first saw the sheriff after the Las Vegas shootings. Just look at them they have to related. Plus, the Chicago Vegas connection and the Tony S. thing. Come on, stop being blind all the time when it's literally staring at you in the face.
I'm currently in the "water from air" 🐇 hole, finding answers for watering a small backyard garden at a vacation home when I'm not there. This was one of the few without mention of air conditioner condensation collection. The home is by the beach.
Are you able to directly access sea water? That would be perfect for a solar distiller. But your project sounds interesting. Good luck.
Great video if it works for you that's what matters not opinions from others . I have done this along with a new radiator so I was removing the transmission line . I picked the hottest day of the year and my nicest white clothes and waited till noon to start so It would be sweltering hot and miserable and destroy my new tennis shoes and my favorite new outfit. This is the way all real home mechanics do this !!!!😅
Haha. That's about right. Thanks.
This is not a defect of the fans. The motors are good. The bad circuit controller has been replaced with another bad, non-original component. Absolutely no replacement of the entire motor unit is required. In your case, you simply purchased a better quality set of fans with another, better controller. This is reason why this works. In my case I found a good quality circuit and now it works fine. The internal structure of the controller is of high quality and has full PWM communication, in this case we will not receive the error message: "P0483(86) [0x048386] Engine coolant blower motor, rationality check - malfunction" Model of unit: C182-A003-Silver. I'm glad!
How much would u charge to make one for someone
Just did my wife's 2010 Camry at 111,000 miles. I typically change at every 5 K so this change went 6K (my bad). I jack the car up a little more than you did. I don't bother with the drain plug on the canister. I just remove the whole canister with rubber gloves on and and a large rag to catch the overflow, over a larger oil catch pan. Dealers typically do it this way as it's faster, but can be messier for DIY'ers if they aren't prepared with gloves/rags.large catch pan.
this video sure helps a lot
I'm glad.
Be happy you picked your own cover, I have a Little River Heritage 15 that weighs over 100 lbs and sits on a jet ski type lift above the water off the side of a dock. They convinced my husband what he needed was a kayak cover which is really an envelope. Since all the pictures are the same, he had no idea that's what they were sending and even though they say "easy returns" they charge a 20% restocking fee (it's in the small print if you click on the shipping policies, who does that). I keep asking if a V-hull fishing boat would work better and they keep saying no, just lay the kayak cover on top of the boat and strap it down, no reason why the v-hull cover you bought won't work. Really bad customer service.
Sorry to hear that they steered you wrong. Thanks for sharing your experience though.
Viewed and commented on this four years ago. Now that I have to change the oil again, I viewed this as a refresher. My Mom's 2010 Camry, with my mom no longer driving, is going to my brother, having an odometer of 7413 miles. She only drove to church and Bible study, hence the low miles. Thanks Mike.

Hey Mike great video exactly what I was looking for. I buld alot of random things out of other stuff and my best friend decided to get me hooked on a gold fever and we got a similar slice to yours but i made a tank for it to sit in out of two 55gal drums. I just cant get my flow or amount of water correct.
Thank you, and best of luck with your project.
Great work, finished up really nice. Enjoyed your humour. Beautiful part of the world you live in by the looks of it. Got me all inspired now 🤪

You should remove intake manifold and then get into fan
That variable speed is $90 more, a year later
That's insane. Geez.
Awsome video man. Very inspired by it.
Thanks so much. I hope you build something!
Where could I find plans for this?
I have the same car and just replaced my fan in about 30 minutes. I removed the tabs that were blocked by hoses by using a reciprocating saw and it popped out easily. You def have to wiggle it and move some hoses but it's easy Installing it was not too bad. The only thing I had to move was the large radiator hose on the passenger side and the fan dropped in easily. A little bending was necessary but it was about a 3/10 on the difficulty scale. This video is appreciated but way over the top.
Thanks for the info on your fix.
Please stop saying gallons per minute, its gallons per hour. Just imagine a pump with 3,000 GPM - you could fly to the moon with all this power!!!
Yes, i mentioned it in my first comment. My big mistake while recording.
