    Looks like you did a great job. I like how you used smaller hose to adapt the hose barb. Barnacle buster is a bit expensive. Not sure what the shelf life is but I always save it in a 5 gal bucket for another project later on. Don't like the worm gear hose clamps. I have started a new hobby of replacing mine with T-bolt hose clamps. Sizing is more critical but much better hold and they don't strip out.

    We have friends who are very experienced sailors, and they have a motto, "a gentleman never sails to wind". Yes, they're Brits! Choosing your conditions does not mean you're not sailors, it makes you smart. Also, finding what works for sea sickness is a very personal thing. We use meclizine starting 12-24 hours before departure and every 8 hours while underway. I (Geri) only take 1/2 dose because otherwise I'm really sleepy. For active nausea/vomiting, ondansetron is great for me, and useless for Shawn. It's a prescription med, but very safe. Most MDs will happily prescribe it for you if you tell them your plans. Also, ginger (chews, tea, etc) is great for nausea, and I'm planning to get Shawn a Relief Band (electric pulse) to try. Good luck finding your best solution.

      It's crazy how the ick creeps up on you. We're finding that when the seas are aft of the beam it hits harder. That being said pounding into it is a beating for both ship and crew. 100% agree on finding the right weather window, but sometimes ya just gotta go and deal with it. Having experienced it does make it better in hindsight, not a lot of fun at the time though.

    • @pdgadventures
      @pdgadventures 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's very steep. Do a quick google search for the "Dunning-Kruger effect" . Over and undue confidence is a killer (literally and figuratively) in this life. Getting miles and time aboard is crucial but there are somethings that are just going to be out of your depth. Reaching out and asking for help is needed and expected, but be wary of keyboard captains and many of the "old salts" out there. It's not a life for everyone and is probably one of the hardest things we've ever done. All that being said, it's also one of the most rewarding things we've ever done too.

    what @rhirwin10 said. Get a hand sensor, check everything, then replace the old sensor. and Ditto on the connectors. When the solenoid valve goes bad again, you make your connection for the new solenoid where it's easy to work instead of being bent over a hole. My experience has been that propane sensors have a lifetime of between 3 -10 years and then become contaminated and unreliable. They are designed to fail "safely" ie. false positives of a propane leak. I would also check the wiring schematics for your Trident controller - it is not atypical to have two sensors -one at a low point by the galley stove and the other one in the propane tank cabinet or below it. The second one to catch leaking gas from the diaphragm, valve assemblies or solenoid. Two other tips is that by code you should use "Yellow" teflon tape vs "White" teflon tape. The yellow tape is approx. 3x thicker than white. What can be leak tight for hydraulic tights can be marginal for gases. BTW it does not escape me that you removed white teflon tape from the original or previous installation. Test your gas connections with soapy water or "Snoop". Small gas leaks can be insidious. T Two other inputs: (1) Many RV components are sold as "Marine" components -the only difference being 3X the price to the hapless sailor. Trident and Magma et al. shame on you.!! (2) I used to use marine heat shrink electrical connectors, when they don't work or fail you cut them out, restrip the wire and use a new one. The problem is that with each issue the wire lengths get shorter and shorter and shorter. I have now gone to Deutsch connectors which are considerably more expensive but they are completely waterproof and I have never had one fail. The money is well worth my peace of mind. If I have a spare component at the time I do a fix with Deutsch connectors I put a Deutsch connector of the same type on the spare. If the component ever fails, I can just plug and play the spare. The difference in quality is insane. Grand Prix and the US Military use them as reliability beatscost. Kudos for going after issues not directly in your knowledge wheelhouse. I'm shocked at how many people break out the credit card and aren't even curious.

    • @pdgadventures
      @pdgadventures 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for the helpful info! We have certainly noticed the "marine" mark up. Most of the time it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but sometimes you gotta shell out for the high quality stainless...it's knowing when and where to spend that's the trick.

  • @wmmoran
    @wmmoran หลายเดือนก่อน

    Seems as though the sensor has reached its life expediency and needs to be replaced. They do expire. Or, you DO have a LP gas leak. It seems as if you only open the LP solenoid when you are using the stove. MAYBE, you have a leak and the leak accumulates at the floor level after it has been on awhile. I suggest leaving the LP on even while you are NOT using it and see if the detector activates. Love your videos.

    • @pdgadventures
      @pdgadventures หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@wmmoran We were finally able to get the panel back on and led the solenoid "on" for a couple of days, no issues. A friend let us borrow a gas detector and we have checked all around the boat with nothing detected. We were making dinner tonight actually and bingo, sensor goes off. We opened up the sensor and the copyright date on the circuit board was 2005? Not sure if that means anything but all roads seem to be pointing to bad sensor. Follow up coming soon!

      Thank you! We are so glad you've been enjoying our adventures! We want to first apologize for mis-representing the sailing lifestyle, it is certainly not carefree. :) While we chase the beauty life has to offer, this has also been the most stressful and scary thing we've ever done. It's challenging for TH-cam channels to capture this experience without sounding overdramatic or sounding like complaints. It's simply a harder life than it looks. Our carefree nature is built into our personalities. We spent a few years with intense focus on saving and investing before we took the leap to quit our jobs and travel full time. We also figure we can go back to work if needed. TH-cam is certainly not a reliable income source and the workload feels like a full-time job. There are other ways people make money while traveling/ sailing and we suggest you get creative with your skills to offer freelance work online or along the way. I've heard of traveling hairdressers, scuba divers who clean hulls, or waitresses who work in different towns along their journey. There is also opportunities to be employed by a company who allows you to work remotely and this is happening more and more since Covid. I hope this helps a little. There are opportunities out there and once you decide what you are willing to do I am sure an opportunity will present itself. Please keep up posted! We would love to hear about your travels!

    I obviously didn't see this vid before the virtual meeting, which was great by the way, I thought you did ok on the paddle boards especially if that was your first time, as for the ice cream salted caramel for me please, The sun shades look great, so you don't have to take extra pics for me now. I would love to do more virtual meets, but I also appreciate its us looking in at you guys and that may be intrusive, anyway stay safe

    Can you rig some sort of self supporting shelving that still allows you to access your starboarf motor for fuel and oil checks... and that allows you to reach the back of the bed and side shelves? Access is key to making it work .. netting to stop things comming off the shelves onto the bed or floor.🫣

    Love the coffee idea. I have beans from Sri Lanka, turned to my wife and asked if we have a popcorn popper? Immediately I realized an Air Fryer would do the same thing, and sure enough, someone wrote an article on how to do it. You guys do such a great job showing the mechanics of sailing, cooking, and living on the boat. I've learned more from you than any of the other half dozen or more TH-camr sailors I have followed. Thank you so much for letting us into your adventures!

    • @pdgadventures
      @pdgadventures 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow, we can't tell you how much that means to us. We strive to make our videos fun and informative, and give a real picture of life on the water. It certainly isn't always pretty. Please keep us updated about how well the air fryer works for your Sri Lanka beans! We don't have an air fryer onboard (our storage space is minimal) but I'm sure many people do!

    Oh so we have a invitation to visit, I'll sleep on the bed with the spare sails etc you don't to put yourself out for me,I've slept in a lot of worse places, I don't think Daniel makes you keep your clothes in a different location because of Winston, but thats a subject for another time, really entertaining vid and very nice to invite us all to look around your home, and being honest about the bits you don't like. You guys keep up the good work, enjoy yourselves and stay safe

      Lol, and to think we've been doing it wrong this whole time! 😆 We should just rename our salon to the bridge and it would sound so fancy! Of course that goes with our sail loft (guest cabin) and walk-in pantry (other guest cabin)!

It seems that we're getting a bit philosophical, sorry!
