I was in my 80-81 senior year in high school in DC when this song came out in 1981. I remember beautiful nights driving through Haines Point listening to this song on the Quiet Storm, Howard University Radio. This was when DC was truly Chocolate City and Black people loved each other.
I thought this extraordinary voice was from Manhattan Transfer--a band I have loved for ever-- but I am so glad that it is from Howard University jazz ensemble--whom I equally love! What a beautiful song!
OMG!!!!...I've been looking for this song for almost 40 years...had no clue as to the name or the artist(or group)...I'm so excited to finally get to know who made this...of course, growing up in DC and listening to Melvin and the Quiet Storm on the regular...all I can say is WOW!!!
Tracey Hamlin my girl , I love dis song sistah. Where both from bmore and everytime I hear dis joint.. I think ur singing to me and my girlfriend at that time. LOVE YOUUUUU!👍🏽
This song sounds the best when we would ride through Haines point. To here this echoing across the park over the classic boom box an car stereo"s ,just couldn't replicate sound that DC sound. Go HU
