I lived at the Starcke River back in the 90's, working as a deckhand. I'll tell you a trick for catching grassy sweet lip.. Those cone shaped hermit crabs all over the beach at Starcke right? Collect a couple of handfuls and suspend them in a prawn netting crab pot bait bag over a bucket of salt water in the sun and they'll leave their shell and drop into the water. Sweetlip all day long... I lived on grassy and Queen fish, the odd scrub bull as well. used to get monster finger mark and jack around the little island in the middle of the river too... Find a school of diamond scale mullet and do some donuts in the boat on top of them and they'll jump in the boat for you.. I haven't been there for 25 years, the place was untouched back then... You wouldn't see another boat. Looks like a madhouse now though by the looks of it. there used to be pawpaw's that I'd snag up past the fresh next to an old structure, might not be there anymore..

hey I have recently moved to Queensland in ayr from south Australia I love my fishing I have brought a boat but haven't had any luck on spots yet was wondering if you could help out just some well known spots that catch fish and maybe some gear advise. I love your vids you do exactly what I'm looking to do keep up with the mint videos.

I recently visited Bowen for the first time and loved the place. Thinking of coming back up for a couple of weeks this time with the Runabout. May I ask how far out you were fishing? I only have a 4.8m boat and don't venture out too far. Thanks in anticipation. Great fishing and nice video content.

They are not Spotted Mackerel. These are School Mackerel, a completely different species.
