Man, so I kept listening, and his story sounds like that of spoiled kid of generation now now now. He couldn’t hangout for four days cause his mommy wouldn’t know where he was? Man, this guy is a baby. It’s the weakest story ever. He waits on long lines for free carb-loaded bagels and equates it to his great optimism? He cries about being spoiled and scared and not catching a flight out, but then talks about being grateful for others’ sacrifices while admitting to acting like a brat. He should’ve just hit the gym with the other soldier and forgot about his feelings of self-importance. Who is this guy again?

The bagel analogy was soooo weak.

Given the basic features of our species, the market for common sense advice is the gift that keeps on giving. This is only the second time I listen to Simon Sinek. He's clearly a great guy with a good heart. That being said, looking at it from Europe, the whole package on offer makes me worry about the state of affairs in the US: Are there really so many people there seeking guidance to help them live their life and who are hungry for common sense advice? Don't get me wrong. This is way better than joining a cult (small or big, even with HQ in LA or Rome). Funny to see how the audience feels the need to applaud - though after a few seconds of uncertainty - after Simon Sinek concludes one of his stories with a Great Lesson for Life. No criticism if there's a market for it and people are happy. Never a bad thing to receive good, common sense advice. Beats the competition with all sorts of strings attached (don't do this, think about Hell, go out and bother people with your end of the day warning, etc.) However, I'm not fully convinced that the audience gets much beyond the entertainment value, and clearly much less than Simon himself. Never forget that giving good advice to friends or strangers in need is one of the most rewarding feeling one can experience, not to mention it costs you nothing. In real life, however, any lesson that really matters and can serve as a compass can only be learned and eventually applied if you went through an actual experience vs. listening to an audiotape. Best quote: "A story I rarely share". This one goes straight into my bag of tricks with "Early in my life, I was lucky to learn an important lesson from a very wise man." (add Gandhi, Mandela, Einstein, or quote a Nigerian proverb). Then, as far as free bagels go, I'm probably just too snob to be caught standing in a line, be it for kissing the ring of the Pope, buying brand-new-but-yet-vintage sneakers, or get a free bagel without a proper amount of cream cheese. I might eventually succumb if it's to do a selfie with Sacha Baron Cohen. My advice to you: Stick to the freemium content. If really feeling the urge to splurge, ask yourself: Will I get wiser just by entering my credit card number to buy the 12 step program, knowing that the chances I go much further than that are thin? I'm speaking from experience borne out of a long list of books purporting to make me learn a foreign language in 90 days. Yeah, I know, we all bought those books . Would my current advice have served any purpose and prevented you from buying them in the future, or do you feel like you had to go through the journey to learn by yourself? That's my point.

I love the way you say things. I belive every single word you said. It's all about empathy and emotionally attached to your team your friends you family.

Ok. Someone who values their precious TIME on this earth more than a free bagle is NOT someone who can “only focus on the obsticles", it's someone who understands the value of time and therefore can afford to buy as many bagles as they want.

I see waste of time waiting in line frustrated while I can enjoy my time with my friends with lunch at bagel place on me. You can get free bagel you can’t get free time

The bagel isn't best example because standing in the line you pay with ur time and you can never buy back the time you lost standing in line- i am sure many will not choose bagel over precious time

1. See the bagel. Meaning to be focused on goals, instead of the effort. 2. Perspective matters. 3. The highest performing teams are those that give to each other selflessly. 4. Listen first, speak later. Make others feel that their views are heard. 5.a. Be relaxed, so others are relaxed. Don't panic. 5.b. Serve others who serve others. Greatest fulfillment in life. 6. Accolades, benefits, and rewards are given to the position that you hold, the duty you fulfill. They aren't given to you because you deserve them. We all deserve a styrofoam cup.
