Picked up some of these recently and they're absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend a citadel Retributor Armour base, a brown wash, then a Darkstar Royal Gold drybrush. This makes for an incredible shiny and defined gold. I typically paint over a white (wraithbone) primer. Some highlights in the range are Royal Gold, Copper, and Silver.

the liquitex inks looked abosolutely perfect for tyranids...! which is great because i have the inks and an unpainted nid army.. hmm. do you remember which medium you used with the ink?

Awesome vid!! Can I ask what brush were you using? Brush hair seem longer then usual which looks ideal for mini painting!

Bill does has a series in the manual for his game where it talks about the different types of robots. One of which is... meaty. Cyborgs, but mostly made out of grown parts. Probably right up your ally, really. But it does mean that any robot, even meaty ones are welcome! Excellent build!

I used tile grout instead of wall filler, and also tried with plaster of Paris, the results are more or less the same, but the tile grout gives an almost ultra mate finish.

Your organ army reminds me of movies from the 1950s. I wonder at how they might have looked exclusively shaded in b.w.? Thanks for this project! I have a bit collection as well, much less organized. My 2 y.o. got a bunch of military ship tub toys for Christmas and several of them have gone missing. I however, have a brand new, kit bashed drone carrier. 😏

That’s such a cool idea. Can the gold leaf be painted on or not? I imagine if would need a top coat or if would come off, right? Chrome marines would be amazing too. From what I’ve seen best results are that super reflective chrome paint through an airbrush over a gloss basecoat.
