Great video. If you just heated the LME, as Northern Brewer suggests (and as you notate in your video), the plastic jug is neither messy nor inconvenient. (Admittedly, N.B. is inconsistent in their instructions and some details are present in some versions of instructions and missing in others, they change temperature specs, etc. Also, I respect you did state that you are new to liquid ME and may have done something wrong.). The warmed LE also spreads very fast and you don't need to worry about scorching.

havent watched the other videos but my pinter attempts have been "meh" at best. I get better results using a sterile spoon to mix everything in the pinter then shake for a bit because why not? all of them have this similar "off" smell, get super foamy and for $20-30 a press kit, not exactly value when the results are "well, it's drinkable" beer. I think the goal of the pinter is to simplify the process and make it affordable so that any person that enjoys beer could make their own. I think the process is too simplified and it takes learning to figure out how to get it right, only you waste money doing so.

If you want an easier way to impart LME (and if you have one) - use a hop spider. You can pour the LME in the spider and it will keep the LME from scorching. I also encourage you to try the NB Maypole Maibock kit - I like it with Mangrove Jack M54 Californian Lager Yeast. Prost!

Only on my 5th brew but so far all the recipes called for 60 min. steep time on the grains. Also you want to kill the heat when you add your sugars, it helps reduce the foaming which can boil over and cause a mess.

Quads are my absolutely favorite, unfortunately not many people appreciate them. Gulden Draak and St Bernardus ABT 12 are my absolute tops, but Bourbon Barrel Quad from Boulevard Brewing Co (Kansas City MO) is very freakin nice! Cheers!

Impressed how neat and clean you were through the process. It's been a while for me, but my brew days always looked like the aftermath of a tornado. You looked well prepared and your process looked solid. I was confused initially why you weren't mashing the grains but forget that with extract you don't mash, I guess. I do wonder if it makes a difference to reach a strike temp before adding the grains to the water, even with a partial mash. Only other comment is keep an eye on that air lock. I've had a couple brews that have blown through the airlock when the fermentation really gets rolling. Eventually I would just start with a blow off tube set up for the first week, then move to an airlock once things settled down.

Boys, this is a great video. Loved it. I have not yet began to dabble in home brewing, as I have always been scared of the process, but this video gave me confidence!
