Jedi Outcast Developer Retrospective 20th Anniversary • JKHub
Jedi Academy with Enhanced mod is great, with additional 2 force choices for dark side, and one for light side, but i don't understand, why "Insanity" force works like mind trick. . .
After installing and checking. . . you mean i need to click on the OpenJK launcher to play the game? or can i play it by clicking play button on Steam?
The installation guide is very weird, first of all it says to put folder, DLLs and exe file in base folder, but there's a thing that JAE has only DLLs, exe and that folder in itself, and even then it says default.(forgot) is not found.
why cant you just make it easy... no one wants to watch a 10 minute video
Amazing guide. Thank you!
Man I'm stuck trying to unblock the apps from launching cause my stupid mac keeps thinking it's malware. I try following the steps in the written guide but it doesn't work. HELP!
v1.3 is here with tons of fixes brought over from OpenJK's main code branch from the last 3 years as well as Mac support on both Intel and M-series ARM chips! I know we promised Mac support when this video dropped but never heard back from the person that offered to do it but now it is here! jkhub.org/files/file/2550-jedi-academy-enhanced/
What I would REALLY like is a controller mod.
Hey, I'm trying to get Jedi Outcast running on Catalina 10.15. I've followed the tutorial using the file JK2MV 1.4.1 from your website but when I go to run the application ("jk2mvmp") it comes up with an error which says "could not find JK2 App... put it either in /Applications or side by side with the JK2MV app." I've tried moving files around to fix the error but it's still not working. Any ideas?
Played Jedi Academy as a kid and recently finished Jedi Outcast. Glorious stuff man. Never understood why we never had another sequel..
how do i join jump maps
Really really wish you guys could make another Jedi Knight game 🥲 to show everyone what a real jedi game should look like.
I'll say, female Rodian is what has my attention the most. Shame we never got this option in the base game
They don't make em like this anymore.
Is the AI remade here? It's a shame that the AI in Outcast is made better than in Academy.
I downloaded on MAC. But I'm the "contents" folder, there is no "base" folder. Instead, there is a "framework" folder with no .PK3 files
Hmm. I'm using 1.2 version of this mod and i don't see this lightsaber menu where you can biuld your own hilt. same goes with player skins and heads.
This is probably my favorite level for ambience in the series (with Trial and Rift coming close). I love the calm hustle and bustle of life moving on with the Jedi Training going on in the background.
**Now we recommend using TaystJK rather than EternalJK, due to EternalJK not being developed anymore. TaystJK is a fork of EternalJK and is being developed still. One big feature it has over EternalJK right now is native Apple Silicon support for Macs with M-series chips.** github.com/taysta/TaystJK/releases/tag/latest

Can i play it with a gamepad?
PLEASE ANY STUDIO PLEASE REMAKE JEDI ACADEMY OR IM GOING TO DO IT MYSELF
Very dope guys! Love it! Takes me right back LOL, Outcast was peak JK. Well maybe df2 was a bit better but whatever. Peace love and may the Force be with you guys - AngelModder
Happy Anniversary to this incredible game! <3
It doesn't look all that much better to me.
Are most of those force powers just stolen from the Movie Duels mod or the Movie Battles II mod? wtf
Thank you for the memories!
Started playing saber only servers drunk with friends for fun over 10 years ago, now it's my go to nostalgia game together with Age of Empires II and Heroes III.
.:LM:.=G=` here. Best days ever! Imagine if we had Discord back in the day. :)
still my favorite star wars game today
I would pay a full 60$ to get this game with Nexus mods available on the console.
Cant get it to work i put files in game data but dont see a way to start it no exe
cant see the new menue "JA: ENHANCED" and the new force abilitys got no description. has anyone a fix for that?
I think I rather just get an official remaster I hate having to mess with files in a specific order to mod a game properly, just not built for computer stuff. If it was a simple put the files in the game folder and load the mod fine, but nothing works.
when i try and load up the multiplayer app, i get the "VM_Createlegacy on ui failed" error. i gave the game full disk access but it did nothing, do you have any idea on how to fix this?
Does this work for Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2?
This would be great background ambience for a Star Wars TTRPG!
Amazing thank you! Keep them coming!
Thank you for the video, but as someone who has played Jedi Outcast dozens of times, the video gives me a sense of dissonance. I noticed this in the previous video, and it's even more apparent here: the sound from the game doesn't match what’s in your video. The mechanical and electrical elements in Kejim, and throughout the game, make their own sounds. For example, if the video had quiet, muffled electric discharges in the reactor section, it would be normal. But here it's just ambient noise, which feels off when looking at the interiors, because I remember Kejim sounding more diverse. Maybe I just didn't understand your idea. Anyway, thanks for your work, it's always nice to see familiar places.
My friend, this is literally captured with the audio in-game. I supplemented only a few things here and there like the steam pipe sound, because it has no sound in the game itself (which I thought was odd since the sound is in the files and heard elsewhere) or computer sounds. The point of this series is for nostalgia of these games and their levels, to listen to their ambient sounds. Perhaps you misremember accurately? I have also been shocked at how empty these maps feel going through them like this, compared to newer games. But the difference is most of this game there is constant action going on and amazing music, so I suppose I hadn't noticed it before myself. Go through the levels yourself with music and voices off and noclip and you will hear what its like.
@@jkhub thank you for your response. But this isn't a case of distorted memories because I have been playing Jedi Outcast regularly for 20 years, about once a year, so my memories couldn't have become misremembered. I launched the game and confirmed that the issue is something else. It's likely due to differences in hardware or settings. "My" game sounds different from what you have in the video. I stood in a few places that are in your video, and my game literally sounds different there. For some reason, the positioning of sound sources is different. In one case, the reactor sounds different and quieter. This could be due to different volume settings, but in another case, the columns make sounds in your video, while in my game, at the same position, there is no sound from the columns. I recorded a video illustrating the difference in sound. To make it clearer what I'm talking about, I recorded how it sounds in my game so you can hear the difference yourself. Here's the video: th-cam.com/video/xSNE13MnJ54/w-d-xo.html (I hope you don't mind that I took two 5-second clips from your video.) Just to note, I don't have any sound mods, only Expanded_Menu to set the FOV and HEX edit of jk2gamex86.dll for proper first-person weapon model positioning, but the game behavior is the same without them as well. Maybe when the camera is in noclip mode, the positioning of the "virtual microphone" works differently. Or there is a difference in the sound card driver.
Cannot run JA on Mac Os 10.15 or above because 32-bit games are unsupported? Anyone had this?
That's the beauty of using OpenJK, it is 64bit on macOS using this method.
Thank you I followed this video and it worked.
Dark Forces 2 next…?
JKA next, and then perhaps DF2 after that!
Cool
I'm glad I met Jedi Outcast in 2003 when I was a kid
I love playing it with dual sabers the only thing I dislike is that it's harder to push the opponent on the ground like you do with the saber staff. You need a concussion rifle and you gotta hit them with the secondary fire and then you can attack them but most of the times they jump back up and ruin your combo
I'm 35 and played a lot of games. Jedi Outcast is still my favorite multiplayer.
For Linux, how do I know which file to download, as when I click Download Files it takes me to a whole new page on GitHub and I don't know what files to select for Linux? Anyone got any advice, please?
On the releases page it should list x86 or x86_64 binaries, you can pick either if you are running a 64bit distro. I recommend just downloading the x86 one (32bit) on Linux. Other that, there are OpenJK (Jedi Academy) and OpenJO (Jedi Outcast SP) on that page as well.
Why don't the modders...just make a new game?
The quiet night is now in progress, the broadcast of your favorites will start again tomorrow. The TV wishes you a good night 😃😆
Great video !!!
