Julie shares a classic D J episode where they examine the similarities and differences of Christianity and Judaism. There is a symbiotic relationship… and a necessity for both. Judaism is particular to a people and a land… and Christianity is universal, meaning not particular to any land or race. Judaism needs the universality of Christianity… and Christianity needs to be rooted in Judaism. Mus...

I'm with Shaun, we camped growing up after the war & it is sad these days that it costs so much to go camping these days. You obviously watch the wrong travel shows. Turkey is definitely not safe for Americans to travel in. Actually, Shaun reminds me of a leprechaun to look at so probably brings good luck if you can catch him!! That is so sad Julie, as a woman I love being in my own thoughts as I spend them with the Lord contemplating all of creation. I disagree with that statement as I have no difficulty in being silent & listening to others talk. Silence is golden & my mind is not busy! I like English mysteries but without violence. Romance drives me nuts!! I do not enjoy American shows at all or authors & find the American humour is not funny at all. I also like historical stories. I do hope that Dennis was able to watch this show as he would be sympathizing with Shaun!! Happy New Year!!

It never ceases to amaze me just how few people watch this show. It's intellectual. It's genuine and warm. Clearly, this, IMO it is directly related to the dreadful state of education in America. I hope 2025 will be a great year for you all.

In Luke 13:5, Jesus seems to accept randomness. I'm no theologian, but I think the classic answer is that God allows free will AND that Man's sin corrupted how God's good creation works. We have to endure randomness in this life. But, in spite of the corruption of sin and Man's free will, God miraculously accomplishes His good will thru human agency. So, God is neither "responsible" for sin, nor bound by it. Jesus defeated sin and death on the cross. I take Julie's point that God created the serpent (Satan) knowing that Satan had agency and would rebel and roam the Earth (capital E) seeking who he may destroy. So, yes, God is the creator that allowed sin but his creation was still good because he provided the solution Himself by subjecting Himself to that fallen creation and providing the antidote in his own sacrifice. Satan has no option to repent (or maybe he just will not take the option) and follow God -- but we do -- thank God :) I remain amazed that 1/3 of the angels followed Satan's doomed leadership. I guess the most fundamental trait of created beings is to rebel against their creator. All the more credit to the 2/3rds that did not rebel.

Julie, you should invite on Ofir Halevy. He made the point the Constitution is a conservative document fit for a republican people and Edmund Burke admired it for being a written adaptation of the best principles of the unwritten English constitution. i was reading James Madison, one of the contributors to the Federalist and our fourth President and how brilliant the Founding Fathers were. They shaped the way we think, we believe and live and thanks to their influence, the Constitution is still with us as our governing instrument. Not many people stop to realise, if men were angels, we wouldn't need a government but since men aren't , human nature is in need of restraint and for that reason we have government. That has been true since human civilisation began on the planet and no one can live without the rule of law. The Constitution is the most profound expression of it and Burke understood very well its not only an embodiment of ordered liberty, its a bulwark against primal chaos in the world around us. And that's what being a conservative in our time is all about.
