Hello. How come you plot log(1/t) on the y-axis? How does that help find the reaction rate constant k?

Try to use a magnet to test the reaction mixture (2:15) (Place the magnet under the aluminium foil). Some solid can be attracted. (This shows iron is actually produced. Just they are not having a silvery grey appearance.) You may use an evaporating dish to hold the solid sample. Place the magnet under the evaporating dish for the testing. (Caution: the reaction mixture is very hot. Place the magnet UNDER the evaporating dish. Really)

For Iron the temps are probably not high enough here and Mg just does not want to give its oxygen away, if it is only carbon.

Great video, something to note is that concentrated nitric acid will mess up nitrile gloves pretty quickly. At 65% the effect isn't that severe but with fuming nitric acid the gloves will burst into flames.

Crude oil doesn't burn due to many impurities + heavy carbon compounds, you would need to heat it up to get it to burn

Your video is interesting. Can you repeat the same experiment with wood tar or bio-oil in place of crude oil ?

This is giving me Factorio vibes; with the light oil, heavy oil and petroleum outputs for crude oil from basic crude oil processing.

4 liquids collected but only 3 burned, what happened to the 4th? Video could be improved by overlaying the labels of the 3 liquids tested, e.g. 70C, 120C and 150C as this wasn't clear (until you mentioned 2 of the BPs at the end)

Doesn't the HCl decolourize the KMnO4 solution too? Because the chloride ions will consume the permanganate ions. So we can't be sure if it's the hex-1-ene or chloride that decolourized the KMnO4. Other than that, great video.
