We purchased a Full size mattress! Be prepared that it is a bit cumbersome and messy, but SO WORTH IT for the quality of sleep once it’s finished! Haha :)

I’m so glad you’ve found them helpful :) We use a size Large for the window screens! There’s a measurement chart, so I would measure the base since the years are different just to be sure, but they should work!

While we haven’t made it in a 3rd gen Rav, it seems like the cargo area dimensions (with the seats folded down) are very comparable! I would just measure the dimensions of your cargo area just to be sure this size of platform would fit before making the cuts. You can always adjust the width/length/height if needed!

Oh awesome!! We took a long road trip through the northeast early this summer and I blogged the experience over on our site (Under Travel Stories!). Several super fun & quirky experiences in upstate NY over there, especially a very unique little art gallery in the Catskills :) Great question about off the beaten path spots! A few of our fav underrated places during our camping journey this year have been the Schoodic Peninsula of Maine (Acadia NP's much lesser visited area); Twin Falls, Idaho; the North Shore of Minnesota (we just published a new video on this yesterday!); & Big Bend NP in Texas. Of course, we loved several of the more popular areas, too, but these areas really surprised us!

Thanks for asking this! We typically stay at state parks, national parks, KOAs (we have the membership so it saves us 10%), or occasionally other private campgrounds depending on where we are! We haven’t ventured into the Love’s/Walmart/Cracker Barrel world just yet but there are plenty of people who have done it! We will likely do it at some point, but have been fortunate to find campsites other areas first :)

Ha - the first person out definitely does the pivot to climb out the side door, which really isn’t too bad since the platform isn’t that tall. Then, the second person has an easier time getting out of the open back! Maybe we will include that in a future video 🤔

Awesome - welcome!! So glad to have you along! We built the bed platform for a few reasons. First, you hit the nail on the head with storage! It also allows us to keep our stuff covered/from being seen while out on the road, too. The other big reason that we built it was to level the surface that we would be sleeping on. Most SUVs (ours included) have a cargo area where the folded down seats do not lay completely flat. It’s about a 4in rise from the folded down seats (where are heads are) to the end of the cargo area (where are feet are). So all in all - much more concealed storage and leveled sleeping surface!

Thanks for this tip! We’ve looked at the aeropress before, but haven’t used one yet. Our pour over has been good to us for many years, but may have to give that one a try at some point! 👀

We had our goetta fill this time with the goetta Reuben and loaded goetta ribbon fries at GoettaFest! I have seen the goetta nachos in the Bailey, so we will have to give them a try at some point! Gomez Salsa is usually our pregame ritual haha
