I'm just a guy from the 11th dimension.
I make games. Right now I am working on a first-person arcade sword-combat game called Castle Wars (tentative title) which you can read more about at:
www.nerdherd.network/castle-wars/
I've also published a couple of mobile games: Poke My Balls, and Launch My Dog. They are on iOS and Google Play

Adding a Black Hole to my Game
Grenades! Today we're adding grenades to my arena shooter. There's a normal grenade, a nuke, a black hole, and an ice grenade. I had a lot of fun adding these in. They are super fun to use by themselves, but also very fun to combine with other grenades, traps, and weapons.

Adding Traps to my Arena Shooter | Knockback Arena FPS Devlog 2
มุมมอง 309วันที่ผ่านมา
I am making an FPS where weapons do no damage? Today I am adding in traps. I've added a Lava Pit, a Spike Trap, a Tripwire with Claymores, and a Decoy which you can use to lure enemies into other traps. This is a bit of short video, I should be finished with grenades by next week! If you have any ideas for how you'd alter this, put them in the comments below. I like seeing other people's ideas....
Porting My Game to Godot - Lobbies and Steam Multiplayer | Castle Wars Devlog #13

I started porting Castle Wars to Godot. It's officially on. I got Local and Steam Lobbies working, as well as a complete lobby cycle. Players load in and can return to the lobby. There's an automatically generating settings menu. This is the groundwork for making some really cool stuff later down the line. This was a lot of fun. I tried Godot for a week (After using Unity for 10 years) and I'm blown away. I built a multiplayer (networked and split screen) FPS character controller and demo in under a week. I only want to make arcade-y multiplayer games so Godot is perfect. The Multiplayer solution is built-in and easy to use. It just gets me excited. I'm not an artist, I'm a programmer. I want to learn how to make art for my sword fighting game. I've decided to investigate some of the hacky ways that programmers and artistically-challenge people have come up with to make art. This is the first video of a series. So cringe lol
godot has been doing super hard on the woke stuff on their X
Screen color node not render alpha material, is any solution
Where's the game from the thumb ?
I don’t know if Godot the play. You know with the whole imploding thing
Maybe Redot but not Godot..
A tip I recently learned about multiplayer in godot is the use of PackedByteArrays, they help A LOT reduce network traffic, overall costs and make you choose how every byte gets used. Fabio Alessandrelli talked about this in the godot blog "Multiplayer in Godot 4.0: Scene Replication (part 1)"
That rvb clip is still my favorite moment in the show, I laughed so hard the first time I saw it. Love the grenade arcs!
It's such a good clip. I feel like Caboose is a core tenet of my sense of humor.
Why not white hole?
Anti-White Racism
I switched to Godot like 2-3 years ago I knew the engine was sketchy I also knew the Godot thing was going to happen and and I also invented the Buritto
You get royalties for the burrito? and how do I get in on it?
dude, you're the coolest
Just a white boy coolin'
Strange for the black hole to kick you back
Yeah it’s def not physically accurate, but I though that it was more fun
Best thing about Godot is that it's so easy to run even on potato(ish) pc/laptop and therefore is more accessable to more people than any other major game engine. anddd I feel like there is gonna be snowball effect ( we may see full effect after few years ) with so much recognition and bulletproof licence that literally prevents from any change of heart when it comes to pricing. It's always gonna be free. There were thousandss of contributors and all of them would have to agree without exception to licence change in order to change it to pay to win. Also if that would happen last free version would be legally free to fork and continue work sooo yeaaa. Godot is what internet was born to be: completely free and community driven. These are great times for indie developers!! It's like Blender but for coding and making games.
Fabulous, my friend! Looking forward to seeing the enemies :)
Ayyyy! You’re the best!
not first
Factually… correct this time!
Hm maybe try GPU particles and or Vortex texture animations for the nuke mushroom
I’ll have to look into those! I’m currently not familiar with either of them
I always enjoy seeing FOSS software becoming more commonly used. It's kinda rare when it comes to creative software. I believe Godot is now fulfililng the same niche that game maker studio 1 did. And given that it's open source, we can be safe and secured it won't suffer the same fate as game maker.
I find it very reassuring that there's nothing the foundation can do that can take the engine, our ability to use it, or our abilities to make money off of what we've made in it away for us. They're just in it for the love of the game
Multiplayer Tutorials would be quite interesting, i am especially curious about how to handle displaying other clients for the player
The MultiplayerSpawner/Synchronizer is wonderful. And if that doesn't work for a specific use-case, then RPC is still there. I've only been using Godot for less than a year, but I think I made the right choice for the kind of games I'm making. Regarding the server-authority, it's pretty easy to control which client controls a specific node by changing the multiplayer authority and then checking that. For example, a competitive shooter could make the server the authority for spawning projectiles and determining bullet collisions on players. And you can swap it at runtime for things like vehicle controllers where you want the player that enters the vehicle to control the node.
Errrm, no, a couple means two. A few means three or more.
Gotta say very impressive solution! It feels elegant too.
Having a lot of fun viewing your journey!
"they can't even seem to do that right" lol so true, man - so true
Nah, it's political in a mentally ill kind of way aka its all downhill from here.
If you want to get some nice sfx and music, there’s a humble bundle for 6 more days (audio alchemy, it’s en encore so it includes a previous bundle too!) Good progress, I like the yoinking from onslaught!

Bro with unity 6 and dots massive increase in performance and high quality assets and all the businesses that use unity in industry, I won't be switching to godot
@@mikhailhumphries Good for you!! I am just using Godot for Hobby work. If you don’t want to swap you def don’t need to. I’d still recommend Unity or Unreal for industry
Unity exit plan … so, now working on Godot exit plan? Gonna stick with Godot or switch to Redot when available? Ooooor, going to UE5 soon?
You okay?
@@weekie What do you mean? Godot screwed up and developers are leaving. It’s just natural to ask someone who switched once due to engine failed promises, if they gonna switch again.
I swapped to godot because I have less friction in it than I do Unity. Godot also hasn’t failed me as an engine. For now I’ll use Godot for my hobby life, and I use UE5 for my professional life
@@MarekZeman91 You word that like Godot is dying because some people with bigoted mindset were hurt by some random tweet. 😭 Heck the funds are only going up, Godot is not dying anytime soon.
@@LightningSpark I word that the way it is. Godot was supposed to be independent, open source, available to all. Now they took sides, banned on Github, Discord and X/Twitter. They even banned our sponsors. They failed the trust it had. It is a great engine but the speed of implementation of new features is slow. The amount of bugs is big. Now they did this. If Redot brings what Godot did not, Godot will not be needed. That's how it is for many developers. They want to work on games and not want to be afraid of their opinions or getting blasted with opinions of others. Time will show but the start of this video "my exit plan from Unity" was the main driver for my question. That's all.
authoritative server implementation pls with new 4.2 godot and its multiplayer nodes
if you are able to make tutorials, please do while some people find code boring, trust me, a lot want to know how things work
Thanks for making this! So interesting to hear what you're up to. And yes I defff would LOVE a tutorial, I am about to start work on a game which I want to have local co-op as well as steam co-op, so I will probably have to figure out like all of the same stuff as you
You're a mac user and you made a video encouraging people to use free and open source software, that's pretty ironic! Take my like though, great video! I'm currently also making a unity game and have been wanting to switch to godot
Lmao it is pretty ironic I guess. If you have a couple free days definitely give it a shot
@@weekie It's not, it is almost impossible to be full open source our habit were forged by a lot of stuff it's great people go more and more for open source stuff !
1:04 130mb ?? im in ,,,,godotttttt
Godot sucks ass now.
Na
Bro it doesn't, just because some autistic person did wrong their job as a CM doesn't mean the engine itself is bad. Get tf out of twitter
@@godzilla8470 It’s basically that, but have other questions like the team is gain money and don’t update the engine too much, block supporters who literally supports the engine and other things you know? And some devs are kitting out of their projects probably because they are thinking Godot will turn in the new Unity I guess, probably this will don’t happen cause the engine is open source and other empress can assume and make a better work, but I guess that is enough to the devs just come back to Unity or other engine, I don’t know ❤ Sorry for the bad english i don’t speak english very well 👍
Godot is still a great engine, it's just the company running the community is nuts. Fortunately, it's FOSS and has been forked, so we can still use the amazing tech and leave that toxic community behind. Making it FOSS is the best think the creators did, but they're certainly regretting it now.
This aged well.
This was already made after the unity scandal so eh. I would still say switching to godot is a good idea, but the vid hasn't aged one way or the other.
I love this engine
Godot on mac, interesting
You know I am/was working on a game taking some time off about 3-4 months of actual gameplay programming 4-5 months programming inventory and UI lol what a pain also yeah I would like a video to see how multiplayer works in Godot tried to figure it out like once
splitscreen is multiplayer when you say "multiplayer" i think you mean online multiplayer wrong word e❗
Not anymore it ain’t.
shut up you weirdo
The engine is still great, it's just the company running the community that's gone bad. Redot is forking so it's the same great engine, except it'll see improvements free of Godot's (the company) toxicity.
@@ShaolinDave I wish I was as dumb as you honestly. also is your pfp a pixel version of redot? you went out of you way to do a pixel art of a reskinned godot? WOW.
@@ShaolinDaveyeah the engine is well made for sure, the managers, no. They had a poor apology and they didn’t have good community management, it seems like the creator is on their side as well cause he privated his account and the only thing that might be from him is the apology which heavily sided with her. I’ll definitely use redot tho
@@DyIanGaming You missed the creator’s last post huh? Yesterday on a different account, he posted that he was staying of Twitter until after the US elections, and said that everyone criticizing hin/the engine/his CM/moderator, are all Trumpers/religious/lolicons.
This video won't age well...
🍿
clips.twitch.tv/CrowdedDullAlbatrossTheTarFu-BlAIqyBumB9NzCCI
it has nothing to do with the engine. it's just a random tweet. no-one cares
@@niicespiice Random tweet my ass. That company is cooked. Thankfully it's been forked by people less interested in political activism.
@@weekie this dude is trying to kill games, he doesn't matter
Still possible to reconsider, with what's going on right now.
Redot is Godot minus "what's going on right now"
ay bro. I am in the process of learning godot myself. will you link some tutorials that helped you ?
1:45 Most useful thing I've learned in Godot is that, from a script on one scene I can refer to a child node in another scene using it's global path like get_node("/root/node/node/node") "/root" is the important part. Then it's just the node names of the project. 😈😂
Bro I love to see this Magic happen, happy you are enjoying the Engine. I am still learning alot and love to get inspired by content like yours. Love from Germany 💪🏻
