ohh u start animating pose to pose ( frame to frame then you find the tiiming tight? )
Yes I feel doing it this way makes it so you can iterate on poses faster instead of trying to time and pose at the same time. Focus on poses first then time in out. Not at the same time.

so far the setup on blender is very easy to mirror what you are doing in maya, it is coming along nicely, the only difference is that I am using another character for the punching bag (making it into a short attack scene).
So happy you are utilizing my videos in blender and not letting it stop you from learning the actual animation lessons im trying to teach.
this viideo is amazing gogan. using anim layers to add extra detail to it. also the peaks and valleys for offset. your the first person ive seen that does that. and it makes sense. enjoy your day

Hey gogan sir how are you I’m asking you this question before watching the whole video that how to be specific with choosing poses ? That’s only my question and one more thing is is using fk on hands is for only in walk cycle ? Because i saw most your videos you mostly use ik hands and that’s give a way way better ideas too that there tons of possibilities as well in ik Yeah that’s all i have to ask and say Now going to watch video ! Thanks lots of loge to you sir ❤
Great thank you! I honestly dont necessarily plan out my poses before the animation. I know what kind of feeling I want to go for and then I just get into it. I WILL look at plenty of reference before I start though to get a good feel for what im going for. At that point I will go into my animation WITHOUT reference to make sure that I make it my own. Then I feel my way through my poses and blocking. If any of it looks/feels awkward I will at that point go back to my reference and analyze what is actually making it feel awkward. Most of the time its the hips and the chest not working together properly. Then I will go into spline and feel my way through the animation with repeating the same process with reference if anything feels off or out of place. I do end up using IK in a lot of my animations but if there is ever a time where I want my arm to create a more natural arc then I will work on FK. Thats the reason for using FK in walk cycles. The arms swing much more naturally like they are suppose to when they are in FK. I hope that helps you!

No problem at all Happy for all the comments! I use 30 FPS for all of my animations.

something i've done with the bouncing ball exercise and other exercises is to turn it into like a bouncing animal or a flour bag bouncing or swinging, etc, it's really helped me feel more excited about animating :)

I dont use the dope sheet But if it is in your workflow then absolutely do it Isnt necessary but if it give you the offset you are wanting then use it.

And those who facing the issue just make sure that to remove. “ “ this and while adding the name before the description dont add space between names For example - AddInBetween Like this you have to add the name otherwise it will gives you and error

I noticed you don’t do the extreme up like in the Richard Williams pictures where the character goes up up on toes a bit and is higher than the passing pose. Is that pose not really needed or what’s your take on that?
I might get killed in my sleep for this haha BUT although Richard Williams book has a lot of amazing animation insight, not all things he says in there are 100% what you have to do. I think it depends on the character honestly. The example in the book is quite an extreme. The book was written in a time where SO many animated movies were more cartoony. We are in a time now that things lead more toward "realistic" or "grounded" animation. I will apply the extreme "up" if the FEELING of the animation or the character calls for it.
@@gogananimation thanks for getting back to me on that i appreciate that. I have done so many walk cycles and this has opened my eyes on so many things. I also noticed since you have been doing this for a while you can eye your spacing and timing I tend to use arc tracker to help visualize my spacing of stuff. Is this a good practice or tool to use?
Absolutely! Tracking your arcs is always good to day I dont tend to use them in my videos only because I wait until um more into super polish mode. Great question! Thank your for your support!
