SECCA 2024 Rd 7 - Dodge City MX Harescramble
Dodge City was hot (mid to upper 90’s) and very dry as you can see. The race was a 4 Moto Format which does help to break up the race into two smaller races, but it was just as hard to get up after moto 1 and get to the line for the 2nd start of moto 2. I forgot to put a battery in the camera for moto 1 and didn’t have time to get back before starting, so this is just moto 2. Enjoy!
4 Moto format:
Moto 1, C class goes out first for 1 hr and finishes, then A & B go out for 1 hr.
Moto 2, C class goes out for an additional hr and finishes, then A & B do the same.

How are you liking the fx 350 now after having it for some time?!
awesome track looks really fun
It didnt take you long to catch me lol. once i hit that single track my body started over heating. dont know how yall did it
You looked good jumping through the air, after last year I had to keep the jumps in check. Haha, It was a tough one to get through.
@@auksmitty heat off them 4 strokes was brutal in the woods
There you go again, pushing Mike into the woods at 15:00
Haha, the other guy was jumping the berms, he thought he’d try it.
18:29! Close one! Great riding!
Thanks!
That looks like a great track nice ride
It was a great track, thanks for watching!
Nice riding, best I've seen so far. Track looked great too. You did the right thing on the hill, keep moving forward.
Thanks! Yeah the course was perfect. It’s been so dusty the last two times get to see it in perfect conditions.
00:2:30 is the best!
I just couldn’t squeeze past ole No Knees at the end.
Great ride on the H hill eater, waaaay better than the Beta. Hard to believe that was a 5th in C class. I know what I'm buying if I start riding again. How did you feel after the race? Be nice if you could give us a short overview of the ride after.
Thanks! I felt so good after the race, could have done more laps. On the 2T I always felt like I worked so much harder. I should do an overview right after the race, I just always remember the race different than the video, that could be funny though.
Turn up your idle
I’ve been hearing that is helping with stalling, will have to try that.
@@auksmittyHe was clearly taking to me. You need to bump your idle down, that helps a ton.
I humbly suggest a little harder push for the first 15 minutes then settle in. Great riding & video, bravo!
Thanks and I 100% agree! I’m learning the 4T wants throttle the entire time whereas my 2T would freewheel.
Great video!
Excited to watch your video with onscreen overlays from this race
@@auksmittyunfortunately, you won’t get to see the overlays on this one. The gps is lacking in robustness at the moment. The download process is way to cumbersome to do the full video and it times out for long videos, so for the moment, it will just be short videos. Hope to see some updates that allow quicker integrations and file transfers.
Great video as always, That guy was passing you so fast @14:27
Thanks! Yea, he seemed a bit reckless but those AA guys will do that. 😂
😂 Definitely not AA, he was just desperate.
@@RedEarthMotoSportsdesperation does looks sweet on camera!

RIP tree lol 😂
Do you use the quick shift on the start? I’m looking at getting this bike, what’s your over all thoughts?
No, not on the start because it’s a dead engine start. The quick shifter only works from 2nd - up. You still need to clutch from 1st to 2nd. Now, you could if you started in 2nd but in my races I’d never need third that quick. Now mid-race the quick shift is great, it’s an instant shift. I love this bike. It’s as nimble as my Beta in the tight woods while having tons of controllable power. This bike makes tough races actually fun! It also does amazing on hills. The downside for me is that I don’t love the start button, I like a more of a button push. This last race I found myself stalling and starting while rolling so maybe I’m just getting used to it. Highly recommend this bike, the exhaust note is great and makes me want to go harder to hear the bark. Ha!
@@auksmitty I’m getting the factory edition. As for starts I start in second gear. I’ve also heard If you bump the idle up a little bit less flame outs. I might go with the Recluse clutch. Can’t wait to ride it. Awesome videos you have 👍🏻

Yiiikes, the guy 8:25....was he ok? Looks like he's in a lot of pain.
I saw him with help the next lap, I never heard what happened.
Love this, excellent stuff and congrats on the 5th. What bike is that?
2024 Husky FX350,
@@auksmitty Love it, FE350 rider myself. That looks like a fun race.
Nice riding. Track looked really good too.
This track is one of my favorites of the SORCS series.
Great video mate, watched RD 1 last night after I got back from riding. I run an FE350, your looks like the FX350? or are you running the 450? Anyway great vids, please do more. Love listening to that thing growl it's way through the forest. Camera angle is solid too as well as volume.
Thanks for watching. I wish I could have seen the FE350, but around me they are hard to find. I assume it’s basically the same just with a headlight, I ended up going with the 2024 FX350. I’ll eventually get myself in trouble because I just want to hear it growl a little too much.
Hey great video! I was in c30+ infront of you . I got the holeshot any change you got it on video ?
I just checked and I was going to cut you a clip from it, but I ducked my head to keep the roost off me at your start so you can't see anything. Nice job on the holeshot!
Popeye forearms after that one
Definitely rough!
That looks like a novice class?
C40+ class, A & B classes race after we finish
I didn’t realize that was you that laid it down on the last lap I was trying to let you by. lol I crashed chasing Adam my forks were twisted at that time I was struggling
Haha Oh man, I knew you were letting me by and I hated I ruined it. I’m just glad we all got out of that with only bruised egos.
I was looking at your times afterwards and knew something must have happened.
@@auksmitty looked like you just got held up in the back that race

It was a close my eyes, all throttle, and hope for the best situation. haha
Pretty easy riding nice course where is that
This is north Alabama near Florence. I wish the camera did the hills justice.
Nice thanks
This rider is not really expert for the jungle race....
Thanks for watching
i see that a Beta 250 your on have you ever rode a Beta 200 in tight trails?
No I’ve never ridden a 200, but I have buddies that do and love them.
I enjoyed it buddy!!! 👌💪🏻
Definitely a fun ride with the group. I hope I didn’t hold you up too bad, I could feel you judging my line choices shaking your head, haha!
Haha you didn't hold me up at all, and no judging unless it's Adam! Can't wait to do it again. Hopefully I'll have a better mount for the gopro this time and can get some footage of you all if I can keep up!
Wow how did you end up 11th in the first lap? You inadvertently cut quite a bit out after the MX section.
He had a pretty long picnic on the big hill if you saw that part.
@@auksmitty Having to wrestle the bike on the hill just takes so much energy. Especially when it gets caught in a tree like that.
@@johnchafin3817 My picnic was not as fun as I had hoped. 1 star rating for sure, will not go back.
@@RedEarthMotoSports sorry to hear that. Was this your first time there? I was there in November and it was lots of fun then. The main difference between the two was that November was a fresh course and this time it rained the night before the race. There were some added sections this time but it was pretty much the same course as November.
@@johnchafin3817 No, This is the same course I caught a root last season and blew out my knee. The property is beautiful, I just make dumb decisions there. Next time I go, I will try to be a little more selective with my line choice.
Those initial traffic jams at the start were surprising to me.
Same, I wasn’t expecting such a long train so early.
I was shocked there were so many jams as well. I don't think I have ever seen that many at the start of one race.
Podium!!! So what are are your impressions of the '24 FX350? Suspension/chassis/engine?
Thanks, so I’m coming off a Beta 250 2T, so that’s my yard stick. The suspension is great so far I notice it soaks up most of the big to medium roots from this most recent race. It feels so planted as most 4T do but combine that with a nice linear throttle, I am in love. The Beta always felt choppy over the same terrain. I’d chalk most of it up to me not knowing how to tune the KYB on the Beta. The Husky 350 power is so good, I felt so confident on the big hills and rough trail. Again compared to the Beta, this is a hill eating machine. I tend to break the rear wheel loose on the Beta in big power, but I think the TC on the Husky is really good at controlling wheel spin. Chassis is always hard for me to judge, but what I can say is my biggest fear in getting the FX was feeling heavy and not being able to flick it in the tight sections. It feels as light and as flickable as the Beta, in the woods. We ride such tight trails in places it was so great to put that worry away. My biggest complaint so far is the start button, I find it harder to hit when tired. I really miss the Beta start button, so all in all it was a fantastic choice for my 4T introduction and can’t be happier.
I’ll add, I did watch a lot of your videos which helped me really feel good about buying the Husky without ever riding one. I rode several buddies Beta 350, KTM 350, YZ250s before deciding. Thanks, always love watching your reviews.
@@auksmitty Thanks for watching my videos! There are almost NO ride videos on the 2024 FX350 out there so I am happy to follow along with your '24 FX350 adventures. The new 23/24 chassis is firm (some say too rigid) with lots of feedback for the first 10 hours or so till it breaks in. I really like the 24 FC350 engine I rode past November - that engine is perfect with strong smooth and fun power. I still have a '21 KTM 350 Kailub Russell Edition and that is my current gold standard for Power/Weight/Handling in a 4-stroke dirt bike (but it has full WP Pro Components suspension, full Akrapovic exhaust, and my KTM connectivity unit). I have a new 24.5 KTM 450 Factory Edition on order and due in soon. Will be fun to compare the updated more compliant 24.5 450FE chassis with my son's 23 450SXF. Enjoy your new bike and keep sharing your ride videos and thoughts on the '24 FX350!
Great riding
Thanks!
do you like it better than you beta?
I really do, the power delivery fits me a little better. I just need to get used to the engine braking coming off the 2T. I think I conserve more energy to on a 4T
