Mountain biking and mountain biking accessories. Moved from Indiana to Colorado, still keeping the name but now I'm actually in the literal mid-west of the US.
Keystone Bike Park Revamped Trails
Keystone put a lot of time and effort into redoing their trails and it shows. Took a quick rip to check out the changes to Paid In Full and Holy Diver. Along with these two, they also did a hell of a job on Mosquito Coast.
Definitely worth checking out this bike park if you're in the area!

This is a quick blind rip down the Milky Way trail at Keystone bike park. Keystone is a tough bike park. It's mostly steep loose and rocky trails but its a lot of fun. Its a stark contrast to the mostly smooth flow trails of Trestle. Even the jumps here are technical. Follow My Blog Here: mtbauthority.com/

Curious if you thought of trying the megneg on this. Nevermind, just realized I switched mine to a RS super Deluxe and you have Fox. But curious on your thoughts on whether you think if you had the RS if you feel the megneg would work. I'm heavier, I'm fit but come in at 230 ready to ride.
Throw the ticket on your seat rails so it's not flapping around on your bars.
It’d get ripped off by my tire lol
Powder
Didn't work for me as couldn't get the sack for the psi was to high
The sag?
When you picked up the DPX elite did you get the 210 x 55?
Yeah you can also get a 210x52.5 and remove the spacer
Good video but bro turn down the backing track, when editing use headphones, it's overpowers what you are saying.
Haha yeah everyone’s been saying that, strangely enough it’s not loud at all on my end on any device
What front mud guard is that?
It’s from dakine, just your standard plastic zip tied mudguard
That's a gorgeous bike, bro. Also, noticed you have Tektro brakes; if they're the 4-piston kind, they are so underrated. I ride a Norco Torrent with 4-Piston Tektro and they are great.
Yeah the Tektros are solid for their price. Another really good cheap break is the shimano BR-M4120. Upgrade from tektro
Love it bro! Keep shreddin🔥🔥🤘🤘
Yeah not worth pushing it too much on rocky trails like that. Pride comes before the fall.
Horns hill?
yesssir
Fav jump at trestle
If you can get to your local Kona dealer. The process 134 DL 29er is going for $2199. Usually MSRP at $4000 insane deal.
My brother just picked up a 153 DL for $1400 brand new. Crazy
The Giant Trance is well discounted now.
Shit fæck
That bike is sick. Take it to Boyne or Marquette or Windrock.
In April I bought 2x 2023 Trek Rails and saved £4.5k on both.
I have two japanese version of this tent. The model is the v300 tough wide. It doesn't have a full mesh roof like this one and the mesh it does have you have the option to close it off. Also the colors are neutral.
Hard to say $1000 off is a good deal right now. Lots out there with $2K+ discounts
That's what I told my buddy when he was looking at new trucks, no use in paying full price for a tacoma when you can get a ford maverick at a 6k discount!
Nice job bro
Sweet flow jump trail
Hey man from Indiana myself, any decent trails you know of near here. I know of a few close to me in also close to Michigan as well
Where in Indiana are you from? I can definitely give you recommendations!
@@MidWestMTB south bend/elkhart area
@@adamrollins4576 I’d say boyne highlands, I’m not sure if little switz is still doing summer biking but definitely there. If you make it down to Indy, town run and southwest way. In Ohio I’d really recommend checking out horns hill. There’s a really fun bike park in ironton Missouri called shepherd mountain. The UP has really amazing stuff. Check out the TH-cam channel The Duke of MTB, they cover a lot of the good Midwest spots too!
@@MidWestMTB hey man I really appreciate it and I will definitely be checking him. Good luck and be safe, saw your video of you (or someone else) coming off a table top and smoking your junk it looked nasty
@@adamrollins4576 hahaha yup I couldn’t walk for a week. Fun stuff. Appreciate it though! If you get a chance 2 places within a days drive I’d really recommend doing at least once are Marquette and Snowshoe!
Where is that at?
It’s on the peninsula in Frisco CO
Nice
Thanks man 🫡
Hard not to buy a new bike at these prices even though I don't need one
Man, I know. Credit card debt is whispering sweet nothings in my ear right now.
best deals are used bikes. stop buying new yo. spend the money you saved on a good set of wheels or a sick bike rack.
Yeah for sure some insane deals in the used market! Just be careful of those dingles on marketplace selling clapped out bikes without tellin ya haha
I’ll stick with Santa Cruz their lifetime warranty is the best piece of mind. I’ve broken 3 reserve rear wheels and they send a new one no questions asked within a weeks time from warranty submission.
@@Couffeehow did you break the wheels?
@@blakbanshee cased a few high consequence jumps and I also over shot a 6’ drop and landed rear wheel first on a jagged rock.
@@Couffee That’s beat. At least you were ok. Over here there’s just XC for mtb. The BMX guys have dirt jump trails though. 🤙
Could we do the same thing on MidWest Roadbikes... Oops time for another channel.
hahaha I wish I knew enough about road bikes to put a list together for ya
The cut out on the back of the fly is problematic in the wind. I wish the fly came to the bottom all the way around. This opening lets in a current and is loud and annoying when it is windy.
Yeah, I was thinking about throwing a tight line under the tent to snug it up when it is really cold. I personally don’t have problems with the wind but I usually guy it out pretty tight when it’s windy
Just picked up a Como SL directly from specialized for €1250!!!! Rrp was €3700!
interesting bike
I want to see a video on kids/youth full suspension mtb bikes and deals.
The Salsa Blackthorne Deore is missing. It's normally $3500 and is currently $2200. They're available through REI and if you're a co-op member you'll get $200 back, so you end up only spending $2000. Plus REI gives you 1 year of free tune-ups and will let you return it for any reason for up to a year. I got one and I think it's a pretty sweet deal!
Damn that's a good catch! I'll throw that on my article, thanks man.
JensonUSA has some great buys right now too, sizing can possibly be the only hangup, but if they have your size jump! Rocky mountain, Pivot, Norco, GT are probably their best buys right now.
Yeah! I should have included 3rd party sellers in the video, I'm going to add a section for that in the article for sure.
Facts; got me a Santa Cruz 5010 from them. Free shipping to Puerto Rico from 6700 priced down to 3600😇 very happy to be able to have my first Carbon MTB with the new Pike fork with their v3 damper. 🔥🔥
Check out this reddit post as well www.reddit.com/r/MTB/comments/1cy607v/the_best_current_deals_on_mountain_bikes/ Lots of good info from the community in the comments!

@@Michael-xs7rz Hell yeah, going to throw a section for 3rd party sellers in the article, completely blanked on them for the video
Some great deals rn, I managed to get £2700 off a brand new Specialized enduro comp 2024 😳
Damn! That's awesome, such a sick bike
Thank you so much, you helped me alot! keep it up
That’s awesome! stoked I could help, you looking to get into biking?
What's Ur review of the tent after one year. Would u still buy it, is the floor really delicate?
It’s been on sale a lot recently. I’d pick it up again on sale for sure. The thing is very solid/stable compared to similar tents its size and especially its weight. As far as the floor goes, I wouldn’t use it without the footprint. I haven’t had any issues with tearing or holes but I’ve used it with the footprint every time.
Powder
What about very crowded pow day vs empty spring day?
@@MidWestMTB hmmm that’s tough, I like both but crowded powder makes it very hard not to hit people on accident
Thought's on using it on long uphill day's? Do you think its too heavy?
Far from it, the linkage is a beast climber, its what a LOT of companies use in their trail bikes. Going from a full "enduro" bike to this thing makes the climbs feel effortless.
Okay, so you said that running four bands and no positive tokens is similar to coil? I tend to have a issue with running out of travel on my 120mm DC/XC bike, so if I was able to get a little more bottom out assistance at the end of that while also having a similar coil feel, would that be basically running four bands with a single token? Very similar to coil but with a little more pre-bottom out ramp-up on this short travel bike? I'm pretty light at 160lbs with the Camelback and a few small accessories on the bike.
Yeah, running full negative no positive makes it the most linear. That does mean more pedal bob though so just be ready for more work climbing. Definitely worth a shot, I've seen them on sale a few times recently! Although I will say, working with 120mm of travel it might be good to try volume spacers first since they are cheap.
Is there another tent similar to this tent you might recommend. Also do you think this tent will fit a couple and 3 and 5 year old? Thanks
Yeah! The North Face Wowana is a good alternative. It will fit a couple and 2 kids depending on how much room you want to have. If you want extra space/ space for things in the tent like bags I’d opt for the 6 person version, that goes for this or any tent. Most 4 person tents CAN fit 4 but it’s tight.
Oops
Doesn’t look like it was very crowded for Whistler bike park. What time of year were you there? Also, one hell of a drive from Indy
Hahaha yup, lots of hours on the road. It wasn’t too bad, this was peak summer right before crankworx
How tall are you?
I’m 5’8 in real life 5’10 on dating apps
@@MidWestMTB I was looking for a size recommendation. I went with the Medium V2 Carbon
I have been riding with megneg for the third season now. My experience is that fewer bands provide more mid-stroke support and bottom-out resistance at the expense of small bump sensitivity. I ended up with 4.5 tokens - two red ones and one green, along with four bands.
How much do you weigh? I’ve been thinking about experimenting with this again since it’s been a while since I’ve messed with it
@@MidWestMTB 200lbs, I am still experimenting with tokens and pressure; I recently changed to 3 tokens, now to 2. Too many tokens will force you to drastically reduce pressure, which leads to poor rebound response
I’m Surprised they didn’t make this with their bathtub tarp floor like they have on most of hot all Other of thier tents. I’m love Coleman tents and LOVE THE TUB floor. This tent would Be a home Run for me if it had that tarp/tub floor
Yeah I think the goal was to keep the weight down and the tarp would be heavy even if it is more durable. If you used it with the footprint it’s great, I’ll be posting an updated review here soon!
You were way too slow
Damn I thought I overshot it, appreciate the info!
I was there earlier today and that drop looks 5 times bigger in real life
hahaha it’s always hard to capture stuff in videos
did you hit it?
@@MidWestMTB No I wish I had though. People told me that its pretty easy you just have to commit
