There are also Lake trout following those perch. And lots and lots of baitfish (shiners).

Not on Lake Michigan waters in Illinois. CAnnot use cut bait from a species that has a size or daily creel limit.

Legally ? Nope. It is private land and anyone fishing there is trespassing, unless they fish from the small area on the south shore that is part of the public park. The barrier is something new (wasn't there one year ago), probably to prevent boaters from going all the way to the end of the slip.

There are probably hundred of thousands of perch in that area, to get some decent ones you would have to use different bait or plastics, also do a lot of sorting. Using minnows you normally get 95% dinks, but there are also 14 inchers caught.

@@carsonv113 one officer saw me fishing with three and said it was fine, but another officer told me it’s 2 when I asked him so idk which it is 🤷‍♂️

@@Eric_The_Fisherman No limit on poles / hooks (meaning up to 50 hooks) on shore fishing open water on Illinois portion of Lake Michigan. I've been powerlining Illinois waters for over 15 years, and I have a pretty good idea what I am talking about. Since you mentioned the Chicago Perch Fishing group, you can ask Hycee (she is a "group expert") about number of hooks and poles. I didn't have time this season to do any perch fishing, but I usually go to Navy Pier and I use 2 rods (when they are biting I can only handle 1) with 3 hooks each.

@@whitebass16 yeah they’re perch. You’re gonna have small perch that get gut hooked and guys will feed them to the birds than keep as their limit

In theory, it did not change, it is still private land (west of the fence on the south side, and most of the north side). But they stopped kicking people out, they were doing that while they were in the process to sell the land for urban developing. That sell didn't go thru, so now they are selling it to build the world's first commercially used quantum computer campus, including a cryogenic cooling plant that will use the water from the lake and the river. Looking at the proposed layout, they will build it on the south side of the north slip, east of the south slip and north of Calumet.

@@pequenioedgarito3067 I really don’t like spamming specific spots, especially since it’s private and there’s a very little chance security or CPD can kick us out which can hold me liable for misinformation. But it’s south on Lake Shore Drive heading towards Indiana

@@pequenioedgarito3067 but I also like to keep the integrity of fishermen who share information with me. Respectfully, fishermen hate it when people spam fishing locations cause people are unpredictable and can trash a fishing spot and overfish it. This place is an exception since perch migrate to that spot but don’t stay there all year round (correct me if I’m wrong)
