Are you modelling with topology considered or just random modeling to retopo later ?
In hard surface modeling topology is less essential than in organic modeling, since there are no animations that could cause visual artifacts. So I can get away with n-gons and trangles more often. But it's still better to stick to quads on curved surfaces to get the best flow. The beginning phase /blocking is usually done with minimum consideration of topology. After that, making precise lines is my next goal.
I also want to do hard surface modeling but always stuck at blocking face
Maybe tell me what is holding you back? What causes the struggle the most?
Blocking things to correct ratio
Golden ratio is actually a good template. Just dont be dogmatic about it.

This was High version. And yes, I did after this a low poly model that I baked. It was just a practice piece with game asset pipeline in mind. I will add sketchfab link in description. There I posted low poly version.

Look up the channels Ponte Ryuurui and/or Josh Gambrell. Everything he is doing they cover in extreme detail. Learned a lot about HS modeling from them! They also have free short courses.

@@belonn6121 Well technically, it really depends on the model. It takes way less time making pistols than heavy duty rifles. And then theres those damn uv mappings....
My friend pointed out that on 0,25 speed its still quite fast. So I have miscalculated speedup. Its x8... And time spent on this proj is closer to 16h. I have lied to you all 😅 Sorry!
