Hi, whereabouts in the UK are you please? Im wondering as I have a 52v20ah triangle battery I'd one day like to have opened up and the very best 'most powerful' cells put in it, as I got a new one and was wondering how much it would cost to have my 'old" (1 year) battery upgraded to the best possible cells / most powerful cells if you get my drift? And also how much would it cost to send you my old battery and have you put a 50a BMS in it instead of the 40a one that im sure it has in it? As im interested in getting a more powerful 45a controller and im worried a 45a controller would trip out the current 40a bms?

Is the battery balancer onboard the battery, or is it in the charger? I'm trying to build an off grid dc-dc charger but the connector has three additional cables beyond the main + and -. Also what is the battery configuration? Is it 10S?

so let's say hypothetically if I had a 72v battery that is reading 34v and the bike won't turn on or charge would a 60v bench power supply be enough to potentially recover it? and how many amps should I charge it at if something like this were to happen?

Did you guys get low voltage from the connector of the charging socket on the bicycle? I don't see any voltage on this. I also see no voltage when measuring directly on the battery.

I'm about to venture into this same project. And though I can do this myself, watching you makes me think paying someone to do it for me might be the better option... Hey do you want a job? lol

Deeply discharged cells can be often repaired. Main problem is that if you try to charge it there are crystals forming inside cells causing shorts or self discharge issues. But if you connect like 1mA charging for a week (might be second battery connected paralell through ~20 kohm resistor) you can avoid forming those crystals. Often there is only slighty loss in capacity but cells still working. You should try it.

Is it the same for the Mantis 10 pro? :) my back motor stopped working showing e10 on the display and i should be the controller to the display there is a problem

just a small thing, you can use soldering iron to shrink those.

That Ribble SLE sure is a fancy e bike. With that carbon frame I can see why the owner would want it repaired. I once had an old BMW that I replaced its pistons with Mahle made pistons. Not sure if its the same company. Great video as always!

Tip: Have an old speaker near to hand for keeping bits safe as they come off. Just stick them to the magnet, a quick win!!

When purchasing a bike, along with specs should be repair options, "DIY, Authorised Repairer or Factory only" so at least you know what you are getting into. I hate this proprietary shit with a passion. Give me a generic bike using generic parts any time.

Hello, thanks for the video. I have the following questions: 1. Can I install a generic BSM with UART communication (5 output pins) so that the bike continues with all its functions? 2. Does the LCD and battery monitoring only work with the bike's original BSM? Or can I install another BSM that has a 5-pin output? 3. Can the bike work by connecting only the positive and negative of another battery without the 5 pins?

This was super helpfu!. The shop manual calls for a spring compressor, but it looks like it's possible to do it without one (although it does look like it'd be easier).

But still there are people replacing cells of lots of battery manufacturers who are supposed to have such pieces of software. I wonder how they get to hack the software... If anyone had any info it would be greatly appreciated...

It's really frustrating thinking of how many ebikes have to be thrown away because the batteries aren't produced anymore and that software makes them irrepairable.

Bloody hell 😅 about 8 years ago i bought a Cyclamatic 'Powerplus' 250w24v rear hub e-bike, it was my first ever e-bike, it was fun for back then... A year ago i built a Voilamart kit 1500w48v and bought a 52v20ah battery (£240) and I let a friend have a ride of it a while back and he flipped the bike and the battery took a real slam... Since then its still working (charging ok too) but it's not putting out quite the same power/torque and it's not as powerful/fun to ride. I've noticed too that when it gets low on charge it tends to drain quicker to zero (only 2 times it's hit zero and had to push it home)... I started watching your tear-down of what looks like the exact same 52v20ah battery I have (that i suspect is slightly damaged) I'm wondering if the battery balancer you mentioned it that vids comment section would somehow fix the problem or would I have to tear it down and get a spotwelder etc to replace cells/or a bank of cells??? I've learnt how to fix every other e-problem, but im a bit terrified of opening up the battery as it's something I've never done and my electrics know-how is a weak point. I'm mechanically clued-up, but never done anything to do with e-batteries. Appologies for the long write-up, but do you think I'd need to get a battery balancer / or is there somewhere I could get it fixed that you know of please? (I'm west yorks, UK) I've actually just today ordered another 52v20ah triangle battery (£325) but I really want to also somehow fix (or pay to get fixed) this 'problem' battery to use on another future possible e-project.. In the meantime I'm going to watch more of your vids (subbed) and try to find the vid with the 'battery balancer' so I can check it out as it may be the answer??!?? Amazing, i hope that i will not need this. well done and thanks for the video. i could never fix it myself. i didn't even know it can be taken out. if my battery is dead i will send it to a company, they ask 250 euro atleast. so really u can make some bucks with these repairs. Did you actually find out how the fuse broke down????

laptop repairs uses a tool to unlock batteries for laptops. It can do a full charge discharge etc. I recon can bus is how they communicate much the same as these batteries. It would be interesting to see if they would unlock

Its like a poison pill software function. On Ryobi 40 volt tool battery packs, they used to shut down if the voltage dropped below a specific threshold. People would toss them in public recycling bins after letting them set over winter and I would fetch them and use a bench variable DC power supply to coax their voltage back up above that threshold and IF the cells were still good, it would come back to life and work again.
