Monster Hunter World Iceborne Trying Out Hunting Horn
I didn't like how the weapons felt (to me). Hunting Horn, Lance, Insect Glaive, Dual Blades. I've seen people talking about how they removed 'hitstops', I'm sure they'll listen to feedback as this game is gonna be printing money at launch :P
It's unfortunate, I hope that I'm using the right word, that you didn't like how the weapons felt. In the beta I tried out the Gunlance, Lance, Long Sword, Great Sword, Bow, Charge Blade, Switch Axe, Sword and Shield and the LBG. The ones that I played the most are Gunlance, Long Sword and Switch Axe. I really liked what they did to the Gunlance, especially the sharpness management, you almost don't lose sharpness when using shells, it feels so good. The way that the shield has far more use then before, and it's much better incorporated in the moveset than any Monster Hunter game that I played. But personally I have 3 small nitpicks with the Gunlance, the first one is that the Wyvernfire feels very slow, slower then in World and Rise, I haven't timed it, so it's more off a feeling. The second one is the Focus Strike, the reach is so short. The third one is the sound, the shelling and guarding sounds feel less impactful then in World. But even with that, I still like it very much what they did with the Gunlance. I have been reading a bit what other players think about the weapons that they tried, to get a feeling what other players think. Here are some of mine: Let's start with the Lance, overall I liked what they did to the moveset of the Lance, the possibility to do a fourth multihit poke or a sidestep or a guard stance, feels good to me, so when we have the opening to commit to a longer animation, we have the option for the multihit - I'm thinking how status or element lance is going to work out with this move. The thing that I feel is lackluster is the Running Charge attack, it feels very slow, and very low hit rate. Also like my thoughts with the Gunlance, the guarding sound feels a bit weak. The Second one, the Long Sword, I had a ton of fun with this one, being in red meter, I liked it very much, the extra movement that we get when we are in red. The next one is the Switch Axe, this one has the coolest move of all the weapons that I tried out, Switch Axe feels good in Wilds. The only thing that I would warn you about is that with offset counter moves we still take a bit of damage, I learned that the hard way. Now about the Charge Blade, this is a bit hard to describe what I think of it, ... I have a very positive feeling about the weapon, ... all those extra Axe moves and follow ups ... but the biggest thing is that I was hoping to see a move from Sunbreak return, Ready Stance. I don't know or you tried out the Charge Blade in Sunbreak and use the Silkbind Switch Skill Ready Stance when using Spinning Axe, but to keep it simple, when we are in Axe form we can use it to get a fast Guard Point and keep going, and because in Wilds we have so much more Axe movement, it would been very useful to have that, I think. I really hope that we still get that one. Charge Blade is already complicated, so I think that it can be easily added one more thing. I have been thinking a bit on how it can be done. When we are in Axe, we press R and Circle (Playstation), and go into a short timed Guard Point, like with Ready Stance. It's also possible that there are some Guard Points in Axe form but I don't know them. Thanks for watching.
How you got Powder Mantle on the two pieces of Vitue armor is a mystery to me lol. Because of the hype with Wild I went back to Rise and I'm trying to platinum it (why not lol), I already have all the armor but I can't put the PM on it, I've already spent a fortune on them and nothing. I'm using another build of yours that is less updated, but it already uses two pieces of Risen Teostra armor. It gets the job done, but this one is stronger. I'm on the hunt for crowns and some of them are already driving me crazy and they're not even from the strongest monsters lol I can't wait for your Wild videos, I was so happy to see the Heavy bowgun with shield in Wild, automatic defense spoils us lol
I can remember that I got extremely lucky with that Powder Mantle, I got those two very fast. Qurious Crafting can give some great skills, but it can be frustating to know something is possible, but it won't show up. I still remember that it took me 30 minutes to get Wind Mantle on an Amatsu armor piece. I'm playing Iceborne and GU at the moment, it's been a while that I played Sunbreak. The HBG in Wilds looks great with the Shield. It will be fun to attack from a save distance with Pierce.
A lot of people say that spread and pierce should be hbg only. To them I say their playstyle is a snoozefest. Spread and pierce lbg is where its at for more interactive gameplay. The mobility to reposition for optimal hitzones is why I will always use lbg over hbg.
I also came across something like that, and that element is for LBG. Now that I also tested out Rapid Pierce 2 with the Fatalis LBG I would say that it works amazing, and there will be a video. Mine thoughts about those things are that people should test those things for themselves, look things up for inspiration, but test them, see that you like it, make maybe something "strange" at a first glance, so long that it benefits you, no need for a Long Sword build with Guard Lv5. People are different, some people like the have those skills, I like mobility, so I like to use Evade Extender, but for other people it's less important, so they don't use that skill. For me, after trying both Spread and Pierce on a LBG, I say that for me, I prefer Pierce much, much more, it's more my playstyle. I also like my Pierce Shield HBG build, and when I need some Monster materials, and I want them fast, easy, there is no chip damage or almost none from guarding the monsters attacks, I happily use it.
I want this fkin Powder mantle + 1 slot...
Qurious Crafting can give some amazing stuff, but it can also be frustrating to get what you want. For some reason I got Powder Mantle a lot of the times very fast.
I usually use the parry lance, great hunt - Is this on Yuzu or a capture card?
Thanks. I'm playing Generations Ultimate on my Switch and use a capture card to record. I sometimes use Adept style with the Lance for the fun, mostly against monster that don't have many follow ups. Having all those different style in GU is great.
Nice video, cool to see some regular great sword usage instead of those godly speedrunners. Have you played Sunbreak? Surge Slash GS in there is faster and even able to run elemental
Thanks. Yes, I have played Sunbreak, but it's been a while. I have some video where I playing Sunbreak. I also have a few Special Investigation videos. And I use the Great Sword with the Surge Slash Combo, I find it a ton of fun, I was hoping to see something like that back in Monster Hunter Wilds. I know that with the final build that I have with the Surge Slash playstyle, I'm using 3 pieces Primordial Malzeno the ones with the Awakening skill, 1 piece Velkhana, for 1 level in Frostcraft and the Helmet is from Risen Teostra. The talisman that I have is Lv2 Frostcraft and Lv2 Bloodrite with some slots. With the Surge Slash Combo I also played around with sleep, the Great Sword from Somnacanth, first I put the monster asleep with that fast combo, then I swap my scroll that has Strong Man Stance, to counter a small time bomb for a big wake up hit, if I didn't mess it up.

@@funlosopher LOL!!! Yeah it's a pain but fun challenge, if you're up to it...🤠
@@gegedawns I can imagine that it will be pain, Arch Tempered Velkhana is a challenge for me, even with my main the Gunlance.
Great video
Thanks for watching. Is there a Monster Hunter video that you like to see, maybe some Bow, Insect Glaive ... ? Or a monster that you like to see? A non Fatalis Armor vs ... ?
I heard ppl say U cant run shield mod on Vor Buster. But u doing it. What are u giving up?
Thanks for watching. The mods that I'm using on the Vor Buster while using Pierce 3 are 1 Recoil Suppressor, 1 Reload Assist, 2 Shield and a Power Barrel. So with Pierce 3 I have Low Recoil and Normal Reload speed. If I would use 2 Reload Assist I would have Fast Reload speed, that is one thing I'm giving up is faster Reload speed. But I will also say that with the Clip Size of 8, or 10 when using Ammo Up, and the Fatalis Armor bonus, Spare Shot, you can easy reload on a time that you know the monster isn't going to attack you, because of the large Clip Size and Spare Shot you need to reload less. And with Pierce you have distance from the monster, so you easily see what the monster is doing. The HBG also has High Deviation, with 1 Deviation Mod it will be Average Deviation, with 2 it will be Low. With Pierce 1 Recoil Suppressot is enough to have Low Recoil. So with the 2 Shield Mods that I'm using I'm losing out on Reload speed, Deviation and/or Ranged Attack Up. In my build I'm also using Guard and Guard up, if you don't use the Shield Mod you don't need those skills, and you can have even more damage skills. I know that in this video I'm using the Earplugs talisman, usually I don't use that with the HBG, I did it more for the fun, because Black Diablos can be annoying with the screams. I think, but I'm absolutely not sure, it' just a guess, that people are saying that you can't have the Shield Mod on the Vor Buster is that there are using Spread 3, because you need 3 Recoil Mods to have Low Recoil, then you still have Normal Reload, with 1 Mod you can have Fast Reload, so now you have just 1 Mod left. I hope that I answered you question.
Nice job
Thanks.

I LOVE SWITCH AXE SO MUCH!!!! IVE BEEN LEARNING IT
That's good to hear, the Swaxe is great to use in Iceborne. And it's also looking amazing in Wilds.
Sometimes you need unga bunga. Great video p.s if you have Alatreon arms A is better for switch axe and also saves deco slots
For more Unga bunga I maybe should use Fortify, so I can do more Unga Bunga when I faint. I have the Alatreon arms Alpha, and those are indeed great to use with a Swaxe. I have tried to make a Swaxe build with those, but I find that with the decorations that I have - I have some good Power Prolonger/Tool Specialist or Divine Blessing decorations - that I can push a little bit more skills in my build then when I'm using the Alatreon Arms, and I need those Tool Specialist and Divine Blessing skills for this playstyle to work. Personally I find it a bit strange that it works out this way. When I'm not using the Unga Bunga ZSD spam playstyle, I don't need Tool Specialist and Divine Blessing at Lv5, then those Alatreon Arms are better to use for me. I'm also not using the Kulve legs, that are good because of the Critical Boost, a combination that a lot of Monster Hunters use when they use the Fatalis armor, with other builds I also use that combination, the reason I do that now is because I have 3 Critical Boost/Recovery Up decorations, and that Recovery Up suits this playstyle very well. Edit: I did go back to switch some thinks around with my switch axe build, to use the Alatreon Arms, to use other decorations to I got with decoration farming, because something that I overlooked with the Alatreon Arms is that they also have Attack Boost Lv3, with 1 more level we also get an extra 5% Affinity, that is also vet useful.
Nicely done lance is a good matchup for the tigrexs and diablos
Thanks. Lance is indeed also great against a Diablos, it's so fun to use the Counter Claw when Diablos attacks from under the ground.
Awesome
Thanks.
Sticky’s are fun but expensive
That's so true, they are indeed expensive. Usually I don't capture, but when I use sticky's I'm almost always do that now. But it's so fun to knock down monsters that like to stay in the air a lot.
i've been out of town for the past couple week so when the Wilds showcase and live streams dropped i got all googly about Monster Hunter. fortunately i had my Switch with me so i have been playing Rise but i absolutely will play Iceborne when i get home. I have not played World/Iceborne in probably 6 or 8 months. Plus, i'm a gunner at heart. The Kadachi Lion was the first HBG i used way back when i switched from longsword to bowguns.
Those Monster Hunter Wilds showcases and weapon trailers are awesome. The number one thing for me was, what they did with my main, the Gunlance. I also liked what they did with the other weapons. At the endgame of a Monster Hunter game I start to try out other weapons, but in Wilds because we can bring 2 weapons, I'm probably going to do that sooner, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, but maybe I'm going to take with my Gunlance a ranged weapon, for monster that like to stay in the air. I started my journey into World/Iceborne at the beginning of the year, it's a great experience. The Viper Tobi HBG is a good one to use.
Gg not the easiest with gunlance
Thanks. This was indeed not the easiest match up for Gunlance. For a moment, before I did this run, I was considering to get more practice with the Insect Glaive, and use the Glaive against AT Velkhana so have the option to go into the air to dodge some of the ice attacks.
Good going. I get very wrecked by ATV. Will look at my build with yours.
Thanks. AT Velkhana is really tough, for me is this monster in the top 3 most difficult monsters in Iceborne. It's maybe strange to say, but staying close to the monster is safer then standing away from the monster. Because I expected that I would faint, what happened twice, I slotted in Fortify. I also ate for Safeguard to have an extra faint. Divine Blessing Lv5 is for more survivability. I used maximum Evade Window and Extender for mobility and so I could jump through attacks like that unblockable Icebeam attack. I didn't used Guarding skills, because a lot of the attacks give you so much knockback that I don't find if useful to get those for my Gunlance build, so I went for full Evade Window.
Temp savage is tough you did awesome
Thanks, Tempered Savage wasn't joking around.
And as i thought, this man would blow up.. Idk if you know but ive been watching your vids for a while, congrats bro

gameplays very interesting to look at but youve got to work on your fashion man
Thanks for watching, the bow is great to use. Yeah, fashion, the real endgame of MH. I have some layerer armor set, is there a combinatoir that you like to use?
@@funlosopher I dont Use one just go to the forge and Pick an armorpiece and then See what looks best with it
@@literum7474 I usually just use the complete armor, or mix and match the alpha and beta pieces. A combination that I like to use as layered is the helmet, arms and legs from Seething and the chest and waist from Teostra.
Wanted to ask u have health augment on weapon? Do u also have affinity or element up?
I have augmented my Lightbreak Gunlance twice with Health and I have also and Status/Element Up augment. Thanks for watching and have a nice day.
Ive started using herbal medicine for poison. U drink it quicker
We are going astray from GL teaching SMH, but hey congrats for the success dude!
Thanks. I did go astray and lost my Gunlance ways, I'm trying to get back on the right track, but ... but I would say that I didn't go so far that I lost my way completely, ... with the ZSD playstyle I also have been using a lot of explosions, ... so in a way ... I used the Swaxe as a Shieldless Gunlance. I'm still suprised on how effective the Swaxe playstyle is that I used against Fatalis. I'm still planning to do my Gunlance victory run against Fatalis.
Nice run man I wanted to see you do it with gl tho 😢
Thanks. I'm still planning to do my Gunlance victory run against Fatalis.
Hey, nice run for a Solo. I did mine after many attempts. And finally i can craft my own Fatalis armor. Didn't manage to break the head twice, but i got lucky with the quest rewards giving me one. And so, another Fatalis slain, another and finally i got my full Fatalis armor. After alot of Fatalis hunts ( and the fail ones ), you just kinda dance with him. And i know you'll be there in no time! Cheers from a casual solo hunter🍻
Thanks for watching. After I did this Swaxe run, I tried it again with the Swaxe, but the same thing happened, I broke the head ones. So changed my plan and made a Critical Draw Great Sword build, so now I just do try to bait the cones, hit Fatalis when I get the opening until I break the head twice and then Return For Quest, and so I'm collecting the Evil Eye's.
@@funlosopher yeah, the frostcraft one works like wonders for breaking its head twice. Good luck man!

Nice video, and good thing when u explained your plans while you play the run!

Yeah for odo i either switch to lance as it has counter thrust or use wide gl and just shell poke evade. He is very agile
Yeah, Lance against Odogaron is a great combination. Odogaron is indeed very agile, Full Bursting this monster can be challeging, with the Ebony version it's even hader to use. Wide with Shell/Poke/Evade is great to use against fast monster. Thanks for watching.
Hero: Proved
Thanks.
I find it odd they didn't give the stone obstacles in the area a hitbox to block projectiles.
In my first runs against Fatalis I thought that those obstacles would block attacks, so at one point I thought that I was save, but I wasn't. There is an attack that those obstacles block and keep you save, it's the cone attack.
@@funlosopher You are totally right I forgot about that. Frankly, that makes it worse lol
i think Safi set would be nice for this fight
Safi'jiva armor has some nice skills, I used it against Alatreon. It's possible that I'm going to make a Safi GL set for Slaplance playstyle, but I will also say that with the runs that I did against Fatalis I could made some armor from Fatalis, and that one has also great skills and build options.
@@funlosopher if you need jewels the tempered Teostra hunt is recommended Also good luck with Fatalis hunt
@@ShenAronium Thanks. That Tempered Teostra event is indeed great for jewels, I have a Sticky Aquashot build for that, ... Teostra spends a lot of time on the ground with that.
Oh man that's rough only 5% left but it was a good fight with a little improvements you will make it 🫡
Thanks for watching. It felt that this was a close one.
The only advices i can kind of have for this fight is learn how to bait for Cones while he standing up. Wall bang when hes on all 4
Thanks for the advice. I noticed with my Fatalis encounters that sometimes I get more of those Cones, I'm going to take a look on how I can bait those attacks, so I have an opening to attack the head, so I can finally do enough damage to the head to break the horns.
@@funlosopher If you dont have your palico it would be easier to bait more cones BUT... you need all the util you can have to survive.
@@thereddeads I looked up how to bait those cones, and tried it out, 1 run didn't go so well, I got some nice cone attacks as punishment from Fatalis. But in other run it worked out well, I finally broke one of the horns, I was so close again. But going without my Palico ... I doubt I'm ready for that.
Maaaaan I struggled hard myself. As a HBG main it’s pretty difficult but I know you can do it!
Thanks. With a HBG, this must be very tough, I inmagine that there would be a lot of one-shots, or a least almost.

The Gunlance is my main, so I wanted to use it for my first runs. If it doesn't work out changing to something else is something that I'm going to do, for Alatreon I decided to use the Lance. Dual Blades I haven't tried out in World, but with those you are fast. Now I'm leveling up some Palico Gadgets in the hope that those would help me, like the Shieldspire.
No no let him cook... I soloed the game on Gunlance, he can if he tries.

@@funlosopher nah they won't bro just focus on ur gear palico ain't that useful in my opinion
@@az7433046 I'm not going to give up on the Gunlance that easily. I will keep trying, but ... only when it doesn't seems possible for me, only then, I'm going to try something else.
As a Gunlance main since 2009, you did good, but you need to polish your game a lil bit, otherwise you got all the fundamentals alright... But holy shit, the Fatalis is so quick and aggressive the video feels like x2 times speed😂 Usually the gunlance suffers a lot from lack of mobility, but in this particular fight the shelling is extremely convenient
Thanks. I'm going to need to learn Fatalis moveset beter, so I can anticipate. There are a lot of attacks that it would be beter not to guard, but to avoid it completely because of the chip damage, if we can call that chip damage. Fatalis is indeed fast and agressive, it's just non stop, using Normal with the Full Burst playstyle, I think would be very difficult.
