All the sweaters i knit this year - 2024 edition with yarn choices, details, and thoughts. I knit a total of 8 sweaters this year some I love, some, not so much. All in all, it was a good learning experience, and I'm happy to have knit each of them. We always learn, and that's good. Is the pattern for the susan shell available anywhere? It looks like a very nice top, nice sweaters all around!
OMG great great great
So happy it helped you!
I love the cupcake hat idea! ❤
Right!!?!? So fun!
I'm rewatching the video. Thank you Ellen!!! I CO at the shop today and have just finished my 3cm of ribbing.
Great! Hope the video is helpful!
I just love this yarn!
Me too!!
Oh I love the Pom Pom yarn! Oh my gosh! Ellen I want to carry one of these in the front of Susan Shell. Now I’m intrigued! Your thoughts???
Sure!!! Whatever makes you happy and excited about finishing your Susan !😍
These are really lovely. Really like all but Razzle is awesome!
lol-at first I read your comment as “I like all but the Razzle” and I was thinking, “who are you and what have you done with Donna???” Then I re-read and understood 🤣🤣🤣
Love these colors
Aren’t they fun!!!?!?
Hi Ellen, Just watched this one tonight. Very interesting! I’ve knit No Frills, Flax (but DK version for Charlie) and the Felix Pullover. Ranunculus and Cumulus Blouse are in my favorites and I would like to knit them at some point. I definitely prefer seamless although I don’t mind seaming and I have put all my projects in Ravelry consistently for the past 3 years. I like keeping track of what I’ve knit and how long it takes me to finish a project. I think one of the reasons the plain “staple” knits are popular is because of the capsule wardrobe slow fashion trends. I know I would rather knit something I’ll wear for years rather than purchase a “cheap” sweater.
Yes, exactly. It’s slow fashion and quiet luxury ❤️
Hi Ellen! Im in England & used to watch your channel a couple of years ago ehen I eas recovering from a mental breakdown & wasn't knitting 😢You were the person who cheered me up & started me knitting again! I love this cardigan & there's a sample of it in my LYS🤗 Strangely enough,I eas looking at it after the Knit and Knatter group on Sunday. I won't be knitting it yet,as I have the Bankfield sweater on my needles still from magazine 76,but I will be following your videos & watching everyone's progress. I love your choice of Bilberry as the background shade..I thought of many colour combinations, but how about Seasalter as MC with Scree for the motif...My yarnshop is sold out of Camel so I think a lot of knitters are making this.. Happy knitting,I look forward to seeing your progress & videos 😃❤️🧶🧶🧶
Aww-you’re so sweet! I’m glad you’re doing so much better now-knitting is a wonderful thing, isn’t it! I will tell you that this sweater has been humbling for me. It’s been a while since I’ve done any stranding. 🤣
@@CrazyForEwe Aaww your knitting is beautiful! I've just watched Monday's episode & it's really interesting to see how the knitters are all different in their knitting journey & approach to this KAL ..roll on next week! 😃❤️🧶🧶
What is that needle? I love the way it looks
That’s a Rowan circular needle. They come in 32” fixed length
Interesting analysis.
Thanks. Do you agree? I would love to know your thoughts on it.
@ I’m not on Ravelry, so I don’t have an informed opinion.
@@vanessapaugh3703 got it! Thank you!
After you whip stitch all the stitches do you knot it off or simply sew the remaining tail into the sweater?
I weave in the tail. Generally, I never knot my yarn at all.
I can’t see how the whipstitch looks your hands cover it
Sorry. It’s just a simple up through the picked up stitch and through the stitch on the needle.
Thank you ❤ wonderful teaching ❤
Thank you. I’m so glad it was helpful.
Would love to know what wool this is. Would love to knit something this colour and texture.
This is Mode Softest Alpacsa! Gorgeous and light!
@CrazyForEwe Thank you 😊
@deborahwright5209 you’re welcome! Are you in the Uk? I know they have it there too
@@CrazyForEwe Yes, from the UK. Will look for stockists here. Thanks again. 😊
Oh my God. I have watched so many people with so many techniques for this and not one of them has made sense to me. This is freaking genius and you are a goddess. Thank you.
My goodness! Thank you! I’m so glad it helped!!! 😊
Thank you!
Finally like this is the easiest step to follow 😭😭 thank you for making it simple
I’m so glad it was helpful!
I’ve signed up and yes I’m doing the blue and light blue
It’s going to be lovely!
Just a note...cable length is an exact match if you don't measure in the hardware? Just a thought
Thank you for your prompt reply Okay I have another question I’m attempting to make an Aran sweater The pattern is a Paton pattern My question is while starting to shape the raglan sweater how to decrease while maintaining the pattern The sweater consists of bobbles at the beginning and end of a wrong side row What if I don’t have enough stitches to make the first bobble
Work stockinette in the portion where you don’t have enough stitches to do the patterning
Thank you so much for your help
You are so welcome!❤️
Prayers & thoughts with Mary at this time - speedy recovery x
Thank you
Are you able to purl with you left hand? I have not tried it yet. Love the sweater and have done a lot in the round
Yes, I can purl with my left hand. You will need to find what works for you. It may be that you hold both in your right hand
I’d love to join the knit along. Can you share the link to sign up for it?
You got it, right?
Loop is the wrong way to do it
Love the pochette top and pink top. Do you have a links to patterns. Thanks
Sure. Lemme get those. They’re all on the Noro magazine #24😀
When a pattern says ending with a right side facing for next row of a sweater pattern just before shaping should the sweaters right side be facing me
The right side of the fabric should be facing you (versus the wrong side of the fabric)
I’m a bit panicked as I started knitting my second sweater before researching a lot about fibers. It’s a raglan sweater and I’m using a lovely cotton yarn from Universal Yarn Co. (cotton supreme). I’m worried that my final garnet will be too heavy but I’m past the point of no return! My question for you all is what is the best way to wash/block the garnet when done. I’m making it a little larger so I’ve got room for shrinkage. Part of me is thinking I just throw it in the wash and then the dryer and just see what happens. Thoughts??
It should be ok. Wash and dry your swatch in the dryer and see what happens. One thing you want to note is whether your swatch biases after the dryer. Some of those very high twist cottons need to be dried to mostly dry and then left to dry flat the rest of the way.
Thank you so much for the quick reply!! I’m a Florida girl and have to pursue these cooler fibers. I love cotton and really appreciate this video!!
Great technique. Thank you! ❤
You are so welcome!
I’m so glad I found you on Utube!!! I’ve been knitting Rowan patterns and LOVE them! The only problem I have is that they don’t go into enough detail on the pattern’s instruction for me. Even though I’ve been knitting for years, I need more detail. I just haven’t knitted many sweaters. Seeing the Rowan sweaters and hearing you ladies discuss them is helping me SO MUCH! I want to knit them ALL! THANKS! 😃
I’m so glad you’re here!!! What kind of guidance do you need on the patterns?
i love the victorian cats 🥹🥹 and the cardigan Whitney is wearing !
Those cats are pretty special ! Whitney’s cardigan is Winterton by Mode ❤️
Jen Geigley did a video- on why ravelry went NSFW Whew! Wondered what was going on. 😂. Thought about your video on popular ravelry patterns and how they are determined. Interesting what a little post can do to that feed!
Ooh I haven’t seen Jen’s post- share a link with me
@@CrazyForEwei tried but I don’t think TH-cam will let me post a link. If you search Jen, it is the video she posted today.
I think I found it -about the crazy hot right now on ravelry
Love this episode. It's REALLY helpful to see the designs on different body types. I enjoyed the models' reactions to them and to the yarn. It's very interesting to see the Noro model pix then the real people pix. Informs decisions about patterns to choose. So helpful to see the real thing!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Love!!!😊
So glad!
Great choice of music, love it.
Thank you 😊 it was a fun trip
That was amazing thank you
So glad it was helpful
Thank you for still doing this feeling like you did! We would have understood if you had to postpone but it was a fun episode, so thank you! Get rest and feel better soon ❤
Thank you. I wanted to do the episode while the excitement was still fresh 😊
Ikigai fibers was SO soft!!

I’m so glad! ❤️
This is a beautiful video, thank you!
You are so welcome! I’m glad it was helpful ❤️ happy knitting 🧶
could you share what yarn this is? It’s gorgeous!
That’s Mode Softest Alpaca!
Lol I'm not paying $300 for knitting needles. Also, based on TH-camr Nimble Needles' video title and the expression on his face in the thumbnail, he's not a fan of this set.
I hear you. Different strokes. I have a lot of folks who love them. They are not the most expensive needles on the market, but they’re up there. It depends on what characteristics are important to you in your needles 😀
I love you I was struggling so much thanks a lot!!!❤
So glad to have helped you ❤️
I knit Shalom with sleeves and a colorful Noro yoke
I bet it was beautiful
I think that they were all too long and needed so much yarn. If I had to buy 2000m of Rowan in South Africa it would cost a fortune. I’d be interested to see what else is shown during your Vogue week. Thanks for giving us insights and also the models help a lot to envisage what the designs would look like on us.
Thanks for watching!
Such a great presentation of all these “never seen before”sweaters. Many should be wardrobe staples. Amazing how they look different on each of you. You’ve added more patterns to my queue!
Excellent! So glad to help 😘
Love seeing the beautiful Quail Studio designs on real people. Just wish I could be there to squish the fabrics. Love Rowan yarns, especially Alpaca SofDK.
That is such a beautiful fabric! Come to New York and see them!
I love that Wolf pattern. I actually even like the stand up collar with outerwear
It would look great on you with your height😍
