As a person with very little experience building ponds (I just made a small one for my house) I'm so amazed at this. It makes me thrive to build better and keep improving on techniques to help provide a great life for the fish. Great video!
@filmsnat3428 Thank you for watching!
Fish work its always back breaking work, good job brother!
@delegate104 True, but it is very enjoyable work! Thanks for watching!
That biofall looks huge. Is it Aquascape Biofall 6000 (the largest size available) or 2500 model (medium size)?
@luudantu7211 It is the largest one available. It is very big! That is why it was feasible to make a wetland out of it. Thanks for watching!
How has this held up over the yeats

@@Red.Scapes I’m going to build a pool next year. Building a deck off my gazebo that will lead to it. Going to put this under the deck (with concrete columns) to collect the rain water. Plus Circulating pump/ filter fabric across the joists to keep leaves/debris out. Fully concealed
@@daneking1209 that's a great idea! Send pics and video when done. Would love to see it. redscapesbuilds@gmail.com
I love the system! How often do you have to pull that all out and clean? I’ve built bio filters before above ground, and you have to clean out all the waist about once a year. So what I’m asking is do you have to pull all that up-( milk cartons ) and clean it out?
@jamescasey7362 Hi, all you have to do is drop the sump pump in the pump vault once a year and suck all the muck out. No need to take the crates out. That's why you have a pump vault (the stacked buckets) Thanks for watching!
It's almost been 4 years... Did it survive?
@@ShenandoahShelty of course, all good 👍 we are using it all the time. Thanks for watching!
@@Red.Scapes Cool!
Why take the liner off if it was perfectly fine?? Mayhe they added for extra protection over time?. Ill never understand getting rid of established water for the "look".. fish thrive in established water.. plus that completely shocks their system..
@@lovely.helpmate because we needed to check for leaks. None found.
Amazing repairs & upgrade.
I loved building mine. Made plenty of mistakes, but I persisted and for a first attempt on a very limited budget I think I did pretty well. I enjoyed it so much I think I'd like to make a living doing it. How do I begin?
By watching a lot of pond build videos 😉
@@Red.Scapes did a fair amount of that in preparation and during my build. I'm really keen on building self sustaining biomes with minimal human intervention. Gotta study more biology for that though. Gotta be a way to have pretty and easy to keep.
@ChrisAyers-f7v the more surface area you have (pebbles, rocks, bioballs and the like) the more good bacteria the pond will accumulate and the cleaner the water. This is why people build wetlands full of different sized rock material. The second most important thing is the water circulation. Need to keep water moving at all times in order to keep the oxigen levels up. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask me questions if you have any. Cheers
@@Red.Scapes thanks, I appreciate it.
Hi i am still learning how to do this reno to my old backyard pond.. Can ypu please explain where does the pump go? Is it in the intake bay bucket to pull in water and push it out up too at the bio falls?
@@2709mss That is correct. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your quick reply. 1.more question what was the purpose of the bucket in the wetland? Couldn't we just put crates and bio balls and gravel for filtration? Can you explainthat part better. Thanks!
@2709mss The purpose of the bucket is that once a year, you can open the lid and drop a sump pump in there and suck all the muck and debris out. It's a clean out access. Cheers
Absolutely love it, well done. Can you please post the name of the foam in the comments. I can’t see it anywhere maybe I’m just blind. Thank you from NEW ZEALAND

I don't understand witch piece is the water filter on this job... is that plastic water block ? Very nice job. Congrats and thanks for the video.
@MrDenisJoshua the main filter is the wetland on top of the waterfall. Thanks for watching!
isn't the waterfall/wetland going to drain back into the intake bay when the pump is turned off?
Really nice job, not an easy task to get it to look natureally. And the system to clean the water is just like in a fish tank, bio balls, simpel and easy. Now the owner just have to feed right and change 1/3 of the water once and again. You seem to know your business .
You rock and keep up the good work men
I LOVE THAT U TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR U SHOW DA LOVE COMPASSION AND DIDCATION TLC TO MAKE DA POND WORK. BUT U FUSSED ABOUT ALL DA FOAM I SEEN U USING WAY MORE THEN THEY DID. Where are you guys located? My water feature needs serious help!
Customer has such a big house and couldn’t afford do the job right. Dang you can tell he really didn’t want do the wetland the way he had to.
Amazing work showing us the DIYers a better way. The only filtration that this pond has is the wetland filter you did at the top of the waterfall?
looks much better and i'm sure it works better. I don't like how a lot of ponds with fake streams have a funny looking mole hill. i know this was not your decision. That family was not into yard maintenance so i bet that is as good as it gets
YOUR DIGGERS WORK OK ON FAST FORWARD LOL
Very nice transformation. One thing I wish you had done was add more rocks to the stream. It still looks unfinished. But you can only do what the customer wants and are willing to pay for.
@jaybird4095 Correct, we used what we had on hand, unfortunately. They didn't want to purchase more. Thanks for watching!
Gypsum and lime powders in correct quantities help clear ponds and are safe for fish and plants also adding a bit of pond dye helps reduce algae growth and saves your filtration system from being overworked
👌
The hole you digging is wet ¿
I don’t like the outlet that laying on the ground not safe
One thing I have seen in many aquascape videos and other expert videos is that the put a flap of liner or underlayment in front of the aquablox to prevent the water from coming down too quickly and to force the water to enter from the top of the aquablox.
How do I get ahold of you? Chicago area

Great improvement. It looks shallow, though. Presumably there are no predators around? Maybe it's deeper than it looks.

Yes, still up and running! Thanks for watching!
3ys later how is it holding up?
Still up and running 👍
Wait... They put all those extra liners down, thinking the water was leaking through.. Even if you stopped the water from running Under it at the top... How could you know that the original liner does not have Any punctures?? Am confused about that.. Thanks! (on with the show...)
We checked it inch by inch after washing and cleaning it. Was all good 👍 Thanks for watching!
looks expensive just trying to do small pond in my garden got no idea about filters, pumps how to do waterfall e.t.c but its costly just getting the first few things to start it also power is an issue pond is away from electricty supply and do not fancy running an extension cable through garden 24/7
I love how you use the correct foam. Near the incorrect foam like this is how you do it
Thank you for watching!
They put that foam on to encourage the water too, flow in specific ways 😅 It makes me cringe every time I see it or hear somebody encourage that
Question: Is that short section of hose from the Menards buckets a clean out? It wasn't quite clear how that became a wetland ?
It's a corrugated, verrigated pipe. Thanks for watching!

Any particular reason for the double stack 600gal of water?
