In this vlog we go to Santorini! We are celebrating our 2 year anniversary and (I) Ari got a surprise when Cal proposed! Of course I said yes, that would have been an awkward trip if I didn't say yes 😅. We did not share the actual proposal because we wanted to keep that just for us.

Our Story:
We're a fun loving couple who just happen to be long distance. Arielle (Ari) is from the US and Callum (Cal) is from the UK. Join us on our journey as we travel to each other, with each other, and experience different adventures. The goal is to eventually be together in one place, either the UK or the US.

    In the U.S. we have Murphy's Law-- anything that can go wrong will go wrong. And I always think it's that Brits are reserved, not that Americans are loud. It seems like people from many other countries are as loud as we are, whereas Brits are very quiet. "In American comedies there's canned laughter.. [Clip shows two instances of British comedies with canned laughter]". Also, the clips he shows of Americans being "skeptical of authority" ie waving guns around and confronting authority figures are not representative of most of us. Most of us do not make scenes like that. I've never seen a gun before in my life. Most of us want stricter gun laws.

    I just found this channel. I hope you do more reaction content like this. I follow some other channels that are Brits reacting to American culture or Americans reacting to British culture, but I really like how your channel brings together those perspectives. As a Gen Z American, I'm not as patriotic as my parents. I roast America all the time, especially because I live here. I'm hyper aware of the degree of national pride we have and find it a bit excessive at times. _BUT_ there's nothing that makes me bat harder for America than when we're being criticized by other countries. 😂 You guys are so cute! It looks like its the US Realism vs the European Pessimism. - In Washington state measurable rainfall is recorded on 150 days each year and on 190 days in the mountains and along the coast - The American Dream was born as soon as the Pilgrims got off the boat in Plymouth. They had to work hard and fight to make it. - Lots of exaggerated generalizations and extreme examples. There are all types of people on both sides. - Yeah, you could say Britain was a "bit rough" on the colonies. - What exactly is the problem we don't want to admit? The US is going through some rough times, but so are a lot of European countries including the UK. - Again with the cynicism about tipping culture and server's sincerity when attending to customers.

    The best example of the difference is this video. The American says something about the UK, and the Brit says "yeh, thats kinda true" , the Brit starts saying someting about the US and the American says "hold on, be careful what you say about America" Its a sense of self importance that the US has had for a long time. In the past in may have been justified, far less so now.

      @AriandCal 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Are we talking about modern day America or Native Americans? London has been the capital since 1066 and it was other places before that, as far as I’m aware the US became a full blown country in 1776. I will do my research on this as it’s my first time hearing about it. We are impartial, we love the UK 🇬🇧 and the US 🇺🇸. Both countries have their pros and cons also. But yeah it’s definitely not black and white. 😅

      @@AriandCalsince the United Kingdom was founded in 1707, one could argue that the United Kingdom's history is only 69 years more than the US, if you go by the Declaration of Independence. My comment was in response to the poo-pooing of American culture based on its lack of history compared to the UK, which was implied fairly early in your video. American history goes farther back than the founding of our government. My state (WI) has effigy mounds dating back 2500 years. Archeologists are currently finding wooden dugout canoes in Lake Mendota (a lake in Madison) that is 4500 years old. My wife found a stone knife on our 20 acres that was dated back to 8500-9000 years ago. Just like whitewashing American history by denying the sins of the US past (such as slavery, etc.), ignoring the rich tapestry of the history of the people of North America before the arrival of European colonists is just as bad. I mean, did India have a history before the English invaded and subjugated them? If you apply your logic in your response to my comment, then you have to minimize the history of all of the other countries England colonized as only having a history back to the point of colonization. First Nations tribes' influence still exists today from place names, to foods we eat, methods of cultivating, harvesting and preparing foods. Former mine sites of Native Americans provided places for Europeans to mine for copper, lead, etc.

Around the year 1000 A.D., the Viking explorer Leif Erikson, son of Erik the Red, sailed to a place he called "Vinland," in what is now the Canadian province of Newfoundland. You can find more examples like these if you simply take the time to look it up without just spewing out nonsense. I dare say there are more people in the US who know about European history then vice-versa.

      @thehunta1744 Celsius supremacy! XD Fahrenheit was actually a german speaker, with mixed Dutch/German/Polish background. He was born and lived in Gdańsk (at that time part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth), which itself was a city changing owners many times throughout history, from Poland to Germany, to being a free state. Now it's again in Poland.

      @@thehunta1744 absolutely. He also invented the mercury thermometer of all things! Though, to be honest, I never knew much about him. Out of the famous scientists from Poland we usually talk about Copernicus, Maria Skłodowska-Curie and the likes. I only learned that Fahrenheit was born here when I visited Gdańsk and saw a commemorative plaque on the tenement where he lived.

    Hi there, I watched your TH-cam video. Your every video is really awesome. But your channel and your videos expect more views and subs. I analyzed Your TH-cam channel and I found TH-cam video SEO is not done. This is why your video is not going viral and views are not increasing.

    Cool video, I hope you had a good time in Poland and will come back to visit other cities (Gdańsk, Wrocław or Poznań). I must admit that food is often REALLY overpriced in last few years at xmas markets. Anyway, greetings to you cuties! ❤

      Thanks so much for the compliments. We actually have a trip planned to Ostrów Wielkopolski and Wrocław in May (for a birthday party). We love Poland so much, we decided that we should go to a different city in Poland every year so hopefully Gdańsk will be our next location in 2025.

    I have to tell you. Food is terribly expensive at fairs and of poor quality. It was terrible this year. Large Polish cities stopped organizing fireworks displays on New Year's Eve. This decision is related to the care of pets (traumatic stress) and savings in city budgets.

    • @AriandCal
      @AriandCal 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely overpriced, but I have never eaten at the Christmas markets before so it was for the experience. Glad we got to see the fireworks, but I can understand why they stopped them, my dog is petrified of fireworks.
