Pat Summerall FOX Retirement 2002
Super Bowl 36 in 2002 was the last NFL game that Pat Summerall and John Madden would call together as a team. Pat Summerall retired in 2002, at the same time John Madden's contract with FOX expired and moved to Monday Night Football on ABC. Summerall would later return to call select games with other partners on a fill-in basis for FOX.

Back in the days before 24-7 cable news, these roughly one-minute news updates were the primary source for national and world news information for CBS television audiences during the day. While CBS, NBC, and ABC all had variations of these updates at tim...

I think I remember when Pat died the next Masters they had a recording of him saying "The Masters" at the intro. I cried like a baby. God bless you!
Best era of the NFL with this two ♥️
Happy 70th Birthday WCAX
it's kind of crazy how this was the end of an era (Summerall and Madden calling games), and the beginning of a new era (Patriots, Madden going to Monday Night to team up with Al Michaels)
remember when men were men
Hands Down the best to ever do it ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Is this what Romo and Nantz will be talked about in 20 years?
Pat used to do a weekly review of the NFL in the 60's-70's. His voice was it!
💪🤜👊🤛👌✌️🏈👍🇺🇲
Instead of a piece of the goal post, Pat should receive his own super bowl trophy like Marv Albert with the NBA championship trophy..🏆
You never know what you have until it's gone ! Best dúo ever !
The two GOAT's 😢❤
Man, I loved these two when they called games. Miss them. RIP guys. ❤❤
Pat Summerall and John Madden were the greatest.
For those of you werent born before '86, I'm sorry. Also, if you dont know what "vhs tracking" is, i feel bad for you.
I cried like a baby when they break up I used to love Madden and summerall I used to have ever Madden game on Sega Genesis
No better broadcasting team ever. Madden later worked with Al Michaels who was the best of his generation, but no one will ever be like John and Pat. Pat was the man who said just enough and never too much. Madden had a lot to say but every word was memorable. They made the game not only fun but engaging. In hindsight, many play-by-play folks say too much and many color commentators add little. With John and Pat it was literally perfect
Will she be my Katie Couric? 💖💗💓💝
He was the Perry Mason of football. And even greater than that.
Pat Summerall and John Madden is the GOATS of the broadcasting
0:51, Pat and John are both treasures💯Absolute GOLD!💯God bless both of them and thank you for all the memories and just plain fun you gave us calling the games🏈
It should not have been the last edition of Newsbreak or The Guiding Light. Newsbreak was because CBS did not want to spend money on it. And Guiding Light was because they wa ted to to put another nail into the soap opera coffin. 1 yr later As the World Turns was gone
So many great sports broadcasters have been lost since the late 90's.
I miss them 😢😢
and it's sad that those jerkoffs joe buck and troy aikman broke their record last night by starting their 22nd year together compared to pat summerall and john madden's 21 years together.
it's so very sad that pat summerall and john madden's record is now no more with those jerkoffs joe buck and troy aikman breaking it with starting their 22nd year together compared to pat and john's 21.
These 2, far and away, are the best broadcast duo in NFL history.
very sad as well that those jerkoffs joe buck and troy aikman are going to break pat summerall and john madden's record though with them getting ready to start their 22nd year together compared to pat summerall and john madden's 21 years together.
besides rest in peace pat summerall and john madden, but rest in peace sadly to pat summerall and john madden's record of 21 years in a row working together since those jerkoffs joe buck and troy aikman are going to break their record this upcoming year with their 22nd year working together.
nevermind woke gen z pansy liberals Thanksgiving will always be Cowboys and Redskins till I die
CBS, please bring back the newsbreaks?
I don't understand why they ever got rid of these.
Somewhere in 🏈 heaven.....
o g john madden and o g pat summerall
I had the distinct honor of watching Pat’s last game on TV. Summerall and Madden were why I eventually got into broadcasting.
Pat sound like he could care less
To be in the booth with this 2 legends while calling a game would be like nothing else in life
Deep, rich, smooth, understated genius. Summerall made the NFL matter during a broadcast.
Simply the best ever...RIP...John and Pat...
22 years together....that was my childhood up to my 24th birthday in 2002. GREAT MEMORIES!!!!!
No idea why CBS didn't just use the "Early Show" or "CBS This Morning" crew to do Newsbreak.
Im teared up right now, these two really had me watching football and i wanted to play so bad as a lil boy my 1st 2 years of high school in late 90s was ruined due to injuries. My dream was to play on Sundays and have them call my game. Rip to them both. Great guys
Imagine having people you work with, some of the biggest names in the sport, talk about you like this. That is so special.
He clearly did not want to retire
HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2022 JOHN MADDEN AND PAT
This man was the voice of my childhood and why I love football now. The NFL owes a whole lot to him.
Pat summerall and John Madden were the perfect broadcasting team
The greatest here..
Pat was overshadowed by John but he was the best. No comparison… Thanksgivings aren’t the same without Uncle Pat and Uncle John’s voices filling our home..
The greatest duo ever on fox....rip john and pat and thanks for all the memories
Nostalgia. What a warm and inviting feeling. Just hearing those two voices brings up such Nostalgia in my soul. Feels good. Life is short.
These two calling the big game was the sound of my Sunday childhood
