ATOTO A6 PF install for Transit Mk7
Upgrading the tired and featureless stock 6000CD radio with a budget Android headunit, the ATOTO A6 PF.
I bought this off eBay, reconditioned from the ATOTO shop and combined it with a promo coupon so I got it delivered for £113.00 - I'd say that was a bargain.
At the time of posting this vid, it's no longer that cheap but still a bargain in my opinion at £160
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145388257098
An extra £10 for the harness adapter and fascia was all that was needed in addition.

A shout out to Stuart at Saab Unlimited for his review that put me onto the ATOTO. You should watch his video on this model for a more comprehensive guide as to what it can do.

    I have this setup and it WORKS GREAT. But, once I got a Nvidia Broadcast setup with AI background replace, I stopped using it. Nvidia works every bit as good and if I want to use more options, I just replace the background with a picture of a green screen and feed it into OBS and use all the OBS features. Works AMAZING and requires no additional setup whatsoever.

    I built a very similar setup using the same ring lights. I'm using it for livestreaming in OBS studio (hopefully), but I'm finding that the color almost washes out to white when I turn up the lights. I would expect a brighter green, but instead the camera sees a very very light green. The lighter the green, the harder it is to key out without taking out pieces of me with it. I have to keep the lights on the lowest possible setting and then it's not perfect. So then my question is, how far away is your camera to the screen? I'm in a very small space and my camera is about 6' away from the screen. I'm wondering if I need to rethink my lighting to compensate for the shorter distance...maybe add an extra resistor to dim the light more. Maybe there's some other piece of wisdom I didn't think about...

    • @Peter-at-Heres-The-Thing

      Hi Eric, the 'cradle' as you call it is simple a circular piece of stiff cardboard with a C920-size-hole in it that wedges against the webcam. The ring light is the spare from the original project and it's 11cm (4 inch-ish) in diameter. The ring light is stuck to the cardboard with Blu Tack (Plasti-Tak) Good luck with your build.

    • @Matthew_Raymond
      @Matthew_Raymond 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Here's The Thing TV Haven't done it yet (though I intend to at the earliest opportunity), but it makes sense. I'll explain... First of all, you won't be able to use your teleprompter anyway. The whole point of a teleprompter is to allow the actor to read text from the direction of the camera, so the backdrop will reflect that light back at the camera. You'll have the same problem with a monitor close to, but not in front of, the camera. If it's far enough not to reflect of the backdrop, the audience will notice the angular difference in the actor's gaze. You're basically stuck with cue cards. The teleprompter basically works off the same principle as front projection. Both use light that's not bright enough to show on the actor. Both use a 45 degree pane of glass that allows light from the "projector" to be reflected towards the actor as if it came from the camera's position while allowing light from the scene harmlessly pass through to the camera. The only real issue is if the image reflected by the backdrop will be sharp or bright enough. If it lacks sufficient brightness, then it's basically useless, but if it only lacks sharpness, you can use you tablet to create any color of light for the backdrop, not just green or blue. (In fact, someone could theoretically create an app that would use the tablet's camera to determine the perfect key color.)

  • @timjohnsen4399

    For chroma key work I was considering a lighting design that uses the built in camera in my laptop. The lighting would be a 10" green LED strip along the top edge of my laptop powered by USB. On a MacBook the LED strip will be about 1/2" to 3/4" above the built in camera lens. The strip would be close to my camera but the outer LEDs would be about 5" away from the camera. I imagine that would create some light fall-off too, but much less as the shadow from a given LED would be lit by some of the other LEDs. In fact I notice a gentle shadow around your whole head in your videos for the same reason, which doesn't interfere with chroma key process. My LED strip idea (versus a ring) might create a strong but narrow shadow on the bottom edges of objects. Hmmm... I wonder if I should commit to buying some hardware and trying this out.

    Your light-offset findings have interesting implications for the design of teleprompters and related. With increasing offset you get: rapidly reduced reflectance, shadows, and diffraction through the lens of glasses (I wear glasses all the time).
