Hey guys! Justin here. Coming atcha from somewhere deep in a West Virginia river gorge, high up on the slopes of Canaan Valley, or from the banks of the Upper Yough. This channel exists as a celebration of West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania whitewater, as well as a glimpse into the up and down winters on the slopes of WV mountains. 'Freeland ~ A Blackwater Story' Trailer
Mountain River Media is introducing its third film in April of this year. 'Freeland ~ A Blackwater Story' tells the history of the Upper Blackwater River in West Virginia, told by those who were there to run it first. Follow the storytelling as we descend the river and use it as a timeline into the history of this sacred place. Coming on April 20th to our TH-cam channel, this is the storytelling that makes kayaking magical, and these are the stories that will endure the test of time. Starring Roger Zbel, John Regan, Dan Sullivan, Jim Snyder, Kevin Sessler, Mike Moore, and Phil Coleman. The 2021/22 ski season just won't show up, so the crew gave up and decided to hit the Sandy at a proper 7.2 feet. This past week was a perfect time to experience the autumn in Canaan Valley. My parents were visiting so I took them to the big 3 destinations.... Douglas Falls, Blackwater Canyon, and the Dolly Sods Wilderness. All 3 locations were glowing in autumn splendor. Enjoy!

I’m an avid fly fisherman and spend a lot of time at my camp on Dry Fork. This spring we’ve had a lot of water and I honestly get so depressed sitting around waiting for water to drop back down to fishable levels. I want to get into creek boating so bad!

maybe 25 years ago I hiked a trail on "otter creek" in WV, otter creek wilderness. Is the same?

Bravo sir. Outstanding. Out of all the years I’ve been interested in whitewater I have never heard of most of those tribs along the cheat. Obviously red creek the black water otter and big sandy but never the smaller ones. Great film great footage and excellent photography. Love wv always have always will. Cheers.

Spectacular photography of one of the most wonderful places you will find. Best of all are the people; Chipper and crew have helped to make this a very special place for almost half a century now. It’s one or the other, but certainly not the complete package.
Shout out and huge respect for creating such a fascinating film to celebrate these rivers and hills. Geologic perspective was especially noteworthy. I lived in Motown 2004-2006 and was lucky to paddle all these runs many times with outstanding humans. Best days were the flooded ones - spicy indeed! Cheers from New Zealand

What an outstanding video! My first trip into Dolly sods area was it 1973. So I have a hiked and skied around up in there for 50 plus years. That makes me age 70. Never thought about paddling red Creek. I I have my credit card out ready to make the purchase..... Or at this age should I just rewind and watch the video again?? Great job guys this should win an award! Even my wife has a message it's "gimme that darn phone..." So I guess that's my answer.
