TDS - Finishing 93rd at a 148KM UTMB race
In August of 2024, I ran the 148KM ultramarathon "Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie" (TDS).
Starting in Courmayeur and finishing in Chamonix, this race is famous for it's beautiful and demanding climbs and descents.
With close to 10,000 meters of climbing over nearly 150KM this was my hardest challenge yet and my main goal for the year. The course was hard but my training paid off and I managed to secure a top 100 finish.

Lake Tahoe - 47KM long run in 35°C
มุมมอง 1642 หลายเดือนก่อน
In July of 2024 I travelled to Lake Tahoe in California for vacation. It coincided with my training for TDS (Traces des Ducs de Savoie), a 148KM race during the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc week. I took the chance to get some big mountain days in. I created my own course that touched on the Western States Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and the Tahoe Rim Trail. Check out the course here: strava.com/act...
DXT - A 103KM loop in the Dolomites
มุมมอง 2.8K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
In June of 2024, we ran the 103 kilometer Dolomiti Extreme Trail (DXT). DXT103 is a race following a loop around the Val di Zoldo in the Italian Dolomites. The course is known for being particularly challenging and technical. This was certainly true of the first 50KM with steep climbs and descents on periodically rocky terrain along narrow paths. The back half was significantly less technical, ...
MIUT - Running 115KM across Madeira
มุมมอง 5695 หลายเดือนก่อน
In April of 2024, I ran the 115KM Madeira Island Ultra Trail (MIUT). MIUT115 is a point-to-point race traversing across the island from west to east. This was the most beautiful and unique race I'd done so far, with highly varying terrain and micro climates. During the race you get to experience everything from rocky coastlines, to tropical forests and sub alpine environments. The weather was p...
Mallorca - Fastpacking the GR221
มุมมอง 1.6K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
In March of 2024, we travelled to Mallorca to fastpack parts of the GR221. The GR221 is a 150KM trail that traverses the Serra de Tramuntana, the mountain range that lies along the northwest coast of the island. We started in Cala Sant Vicenç and headed down through Pollença to the mountain village of Lluc. From there we worked our way through the highest points of the mountain range to Soller ...

Really nice video!
Thanks lilsis ;)
Very cool video! Keep it up! Btw, could you please give some information about the video gear you use to record your races? Thanks!
Thanks! I'm a total newbie to this so I'm still learning and figuring stuff out 😅 My current setup is a GoPro HERO 12 with the Media Mod. I'm considering getting some accessories (light mod for night filming, some lenses) to shoot better quality footage.
@@alexandermarcuswinter Very cool! Thanks for the response! And keep the videos coming, you're doing great!
Insane! We hiked (not even all of) the trail and the whole time I was just in awe that people ran it. Especially in those conditions before you’ve even seen the light of day. Congratulations on that what an experience it must have been.
Thanks! Even if the conditions weren’t optimal the trails were still amazing. Definitely want to go back and hike/run them again.
Loved your video. Pretty hardcore, though! I'm back out on the GR221 in September to carry on from my Valdemossa to Soller legs of several years ago. I'll be doing Soller to Pollensa. A couple of questions, please? 1. Is the signposting good between Lluc and Soller? 2. What size bags were they? 3. Is there any chance of a kit list? Thanks, guys.
Thanks! Happy you enjoyed it :) 1. From what I remember the signposting was good. We were also using GPX tracks in our watches but it would be very manageable without that if you have some navigation experience and bring a map. 2. I was using Salomon's XA25 liter pack, Cass was using a Salomon ADV Skin 12 liter running vest. We used these bags for the whole trip (2 days of travelling and 3 days for the fastpack) so we had crammed in extra clothing for the travel days. For one person a 25 liter pack would be enough but you really can only bring the essentials then. If you're staying in the rifugios a recommendation would be to spend a couple of euros renting towels/bed sheets instead of carrying them with you. 3. Sure! Kit list - Hoka Mafate Speed 4 - Salomon XA25 - 2x 0.5 liter water bottles - 1.5 liter water bladder - Rain jacket - Cap - Thin gloves - Fenix Headlamp HM65R-T - Drysack - First aid kit - Sunglasses - Leki poles - Sleeping bag liner - Towel - Raincover - Running shorts - Longsleeved running shirt x2 - Running t-shirt - Running leggings - Buff - Powerbank - Garmin Fenix 6Pro - All the other standard stuff (passport, health insurance card, toiletries, chargers etc.)
@@alexandermarcuswinter thank you, that's very useful 👍
Did you check the trail running poles on the plane or did you take them with you in your hand luggage?
@@trailpirat_ We flew with Ryanair and decided not to risk it so we checked them in. We actually bought a medium sized cardboard box and checked that in so that we didn’t have to store a suitcase somewhere when we arrived. On the way back we did the same thing.
