I’m a warrans person. Don’t really like rowes.
Barren, Brilliant and probably Bracing in a hoolie yeah enjoyed this one. A place of peace is ding dong.
It`s always difficult to know what to say with redevelopments as they are a bit like paintings, you never know what it will turn out like until it`s completed. Like others, I can see the need to develop the old garage site, but not sure on the historic gardens. I think they could`ve worked around those even if it involved a few gentle modifications. From the artists impression it looks like they are pedestrianising the part of Coinagehall Street which goes behind the Dolphin buildings, not sure what will happen when the Fair is on the seafront there, as the traffic is normally diverted up that road and around in front of the Yacht Inn and back onto the seafront.
Seems like these developers are only interested in how many units they can squeeze into a given area. Here in Hayle the North Quay looks like a real eyesore and of course part way through the developer went bust. Also the development on the old R.J. supplies site looks like a prison block, the developers have gone bust there also.
I really feel for Hayle. Parts of it are looking terrible because of the botched developments.
I'm shocked to what they have done to the gardens, it's legalised vandalism. I don't know why they don't leave things alone 😢.
Someone’s making a lot of money out of PZ.
PZ is not what it used to be! I don't live there, i live further up the south coast, but i have relatives in PZ & Newlyn. What's the old saying; " If it ain't broke, don't fix it" !! They have well and truly vandalised the garden. Cheers,....... and gone!! 👍🖐️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
Money and greed.
This development has about as much local support as that ugly toad of a building now squatting at the top end of Causewayhead did, and brought to us by the same people, one local one in particular being prominent in the decision making and implementation. Now that local (well, county) elections should still be going ahead in May, there is a chance a couple of the guilty culprits get voted off if the usual apathy doesn't prevail. P.S. I'm normally a supporter of toads, just not that unnecessary and expensive travesty.
Fingers crossed for the May elections. As old Trump said: it’s time to clear out the swamp!!
I agree with the Taylor’s garage going because it became a bit unsafe, but feel the gardens should have been left alone and just tidy’d up a bit and like you said when the locals aren’t listened to it’s a bitter pill to sallow, and who’s going to afford those apartments? No body local and you know my views on the meadery.
Someone’s making a tremendous amount of money from OUR town.
@ yes someone is, I could name 3 councillors that was very pushy on St Antonys gardens and the waterside going so they are clearly on some sort of payroll (brown envelope) 🙄
@@jonstephens682I can’t stand corruption. We elect these people. They are there to serve the needs of the community, not to profit from it.
@ totally agree mate, all the locals was definitely ignored all for the certain councillors gain.
@@jonstephens682it makes me so cross.
I bet that granite gets sold off for a tidy sum and not reincorporated back into the gardens 🤨
Well, someone is making a lot of money out of our town. And I don’t like that.
Wow! Ref the gardens! What a mess, not a very sympathetic development!! Looking at the plan, you showed it looks like the gardens are integrated into the new apartment development?? May be the gardens will be the responsibility of the new apartments? Saving the council maintenance?? Just a thought Good vlog, keep em coming!
Possibly a maintenance thing, yes.
Am watching the progress with very tear-filled eyes -- so glad my mother is not alive to witness this demolition of the gardens. She often spoke of the gardens as her father, a Penzance stone mason helped to build the gardens. So very, very sad to see his work gone forever.
That is sad, indeed.
@@jenniferrobertson7510 Oh my. That is heartbreaking 💔
1:10 He’s in need of a pasty!
Interesting. I don’t believe it should be progress at any cost though.
Agreed.
Taylor’s demolishing I agree with. St. Anthony’s garden and Meadery closure definitely disagree with. And I’m a born and bred Penzance local. As usual little to no consultation with the local people from the Council. 😊😊😊😊 Just my opinion.
Very little consultation.
Such a shame about the gardens. It must hold a lot of memories for the locals. Why are they changing it if it's fine as it is!
Money, I expect.
The Romans were in Cornwall,&their main centre in Cornwall was,Tintagel.
Proper food 😋 👌
Definitely proper food. We love a good Meadery. 👍🏻
it must of been over 15 years i visited the aquarium in Bristol
Time to go back?
I still miss the Penzance Aquarium. Great memories visiting that one with my young son. Love a good Aquarium.🐟🐠🐡🍤🎏
Gosh! Remind me, where was the PZ aquarium?
@ It was on the corner, just before the bend that takes you down to the Dolphin pub, by Penzance harbour. Brilliant little place, back in the day.
@@KeithWilliams-h2xInteresting. I don’t remember that. At least I don’t think so. When did it close? Roughly.
@ I’m guessing around early to mid 90’s. They had all the local fish, and built a section at the back for the more exotic ones. We used to love it. They had a large Conger eel in one of the tanks, which always spooked my Son, and a beautiful large Lobster 🦞 and loads of other fish. If you will excuse the pun… we felt gutted when it shut down. Penzance now lacks an Aquarium down by the harbour, such a shame 😳
@@KeithWilliams-h2xinteresting. I obviously never went in there. Thanks for the info. I remember the shipwreck museum in Chapel Street. That was cool.
Cracking little video mate. Everybody loves a good aquarium there amazing, don’t think anyone wants to be eaten buy a shark. 😂😂
Being consumed by a shark would be a very uncomfortable experience.

Great video. To me, the Penwith moors are the last hidden gem of West Cornwall, largely untouched by tourism and just stunning. Will have to do that walk soon. Might need to get some comfy wellies first!
It’s a lovely area. 👍🏻
Great video as always, it is good to know what is happening in our home town, thank you for taking the time to make your video’s. I am a Penzance maid, lived in Penzance all my life but unfortunately I had to move away from my beloved home town 3 years ago due to personal circumstances beyond my control. I miss home BIG TIME!! It done my heart good when you said how much you love Penzance, I wholeheartedly, totally and utterly agree with you, I love Penzance and it is indeed a VERY beautiful town and like you I get annoyed when people run down Penzance. I am VERY proud to be a Penzance maid.
Thank you for the watch. We should be proud of our town. I’ll pepper in a little bit of this content from time to time. Stay tuned!

That was a funny little video mate 😂😂 you was in the meadery? You should have popped up and seen me because I’ve got something for you 😂 you must have forgot.
I was going to nip up, but it was my dad’s birthday. I’m there again on Saturday night for a work’s party. I’ll pop up then. 👍🏻
@ ah I see fair enough, ok no problem I’ll be upstairs in the bar 👍 look forward to seeing you.

I'm not a PZ native but I live in PZ now and it's a great place.History, Art and of course the beautiful coastline. It's a great base for exploring West Penwith and the Lizard too. In short tis 'ansome!
👍🏻
It was only last year I step foot in St Anthony’s Garden for the first time and it was one of the few times I get to see my dad. I’ve always gone past it with walks or by car but that experience I had with my dad, sitting down in one of the benches there and having lunch together on a beautiful summers day will always stick with me And as soon as I drove past this yesterday, I was devastated to see construction around it and to me they have defaced it. I can’t even see the place me and my dad sat anymore. I just don’t recognise it anymore. I get wanting to change it if it was crumbling and being a danger but it wasn’t! So to me this is annoyingly Pointless! I don’t get it and It’s genuinely ruined my weekend
Great vlog as always x
Thank you. 👍🏻
The rocks at Wherrytown that you can walk to at low tide is the site of an old mine.
Great video, as always. Good to see how things are developing at St Anthony's Gardens & Taylor's Garage. I hope they don't change the gardens too much. I also love Penzance, it's my favourite town anywhere - much more "real" than St Ives. We always had our family holidays on Scilly, so Penzance was our stopover on the way, and I'll always have happy memories of it! Many thanks!
Great video again mate. Yes I agree the baba’s needs to go don’t it it’s started falling down now. It’s a real shame there destroying st Antony’s gardens and I’m pretty sure but not 100% that there building on it and only 5 or 6 parking spaces for the residents that buy the apartments. The local council are destroying Penzance now. Must admit I’m born and bread st just 😊
St. Just!!! Oh no! 🤣🤣

@theBriceSide it's a easy fix, just let the tyre down and move the tyre that should straighten the valve,,cheers 👍🫡
Cormac are using the carpark at Wherry Town as a yard. They are working on the road beside the bowling green (putting in a pavement, I think). They seem slow clearing the old Taylors site! The "Drill bit" is called a pecker, Ref the gardens, the council should have put a plan of what they are doing on the fencing! Good vlog as always Andrew! 😊
Pecker? Love it!!
The car park was 'gifted' to the Jubilee Pool as part of the deal that passed the ownership of the latter from our (Town) Council and is due to reopen with fewer spaces, on account of some new disabled ones provided for the first time. Unfortunately the Pool management chose a private parking firm to run it for them who were using the usual tactics of spy cameras trying to catch innocent motorists out who had to leave without finding a vacant space' I totally agree with you about the importance of St Antony Gardens to the area, so I'll reserve judgement until all becomes clear.
Good info. Thank you. 👍🏻
It was' n t wet in Porthleven yesterday, it was gloriously sunny! I bought myself a Philp' s pasty and headed up out of the town along the cliffs . The ugly house you referenced, has had it's glass frontage decorated in large white exclamation marks, by your ' feathered friends' !!! 🕊️ Cheers,...... and gone!!!🙋
