How to Clock or re clock Your Alternator / Move alternator stud
มุมมอง 2.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a quick video explaining how to reclock your denso hairpin / segment conductor style alternator. I made a mistake not exposing the torque spec in the video better. The video shows m6 bolts, which is adequate for the size bolt being used, but you should be close to 9-11 ft lbs for m5 bolts which are also commonly used on these types of alternators. The main thing you’re after is making s...
How to test your alternator with a multi meter for functionality / shorts / damage
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a quick video for testing your high output or stock denso model segment conductor / hairpin alternator. This helps diagnose charging issues with either a rectifier issue, or opened rotor coil. Using a fluke 101 meter which you can find on Amazon, eBay, or your local Hardware store in most cases for under 40$. If you’ve done all of these tests, and know your wiring / connections / batter...

Brand X Electrical Adustable Voltage Knob Prototype
มุมมอง 9K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a video showing a new product I’ve been working on describing how the new adjustable voltage knob works for vehicles with a GM regulator and adjustable sense to replace guys using a diode or control module. Will also be making them for Toyota’s and older fords as well, albeit a higher price. It’s a very simple design that should prove to be reliable as any bass knob you’ve used before. ...

Diode voltage increase walkthrough / tutorial
มุมมอง 23K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Used for 4 pin GM alternators the 1n4004 diode has been a voltage boosting staple for years. Any questions please ask in the comments, always happy to help! The S terminal will be labeled on the alternator, you’ll use the line of the diode towards the regulator, and a relay / ignition source to the S terminal wire after the diode.
Alternator bypass 14.8v GM regulator Swap denso hairpin
มุมมอง 25K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a video showing people how to change their alternator to a pcm bypassed unit with hand tools or power tools. Resistor is a 470 ohm 1/2 watt.
Okay on a generator in the RV where is the starter located my first time ever owned in one
So, what is the best solder to use for this swap being that you stated that we should NOT use 60/40?
You should make a video demonstrating the wiring to an external regulator after cutting the extra leg off. I’m going to take a shot and say the hot wire goes to the positive stud of the alternator with the battery cable then the other goes to the field cable. I’m a rookie no one listen to this comment until it’s been confirmed by someone who knows what they are talking about 😂
I have a GP 370 amp alternator that has a two prong plug and not the four prong one. I’m trying to find out how to make the connections properly. It is a GM alternator and I believe the guy said that it was for a 07 Suburban. Please help me figure this out before I go crazy !!!!!!!
You were brothers with Tony or you worked for ces alternators. Tony says from ces you can't put a diode on his 250 amp Toyota hairpin. Send the alternator in it's got a built in regulator. He is full of it please tell me he's wrong. Because I built the 90 aph LTO bank. His alternator is on one utube video and it ain't even worth putting it in. 13.9 volts at idle and mid 14s on rpms. My LTO bank should last real long. Thank you Johnathan
what brand/type or external regulator would you recommend? AGM battery. 85' toyota Cool video too btw, thanks for posting this info.
Hello Sir. So on my classic car. I want to install a electric fuel pump but I want to operator only when the key is turned of course. I'm guessing I can run the fuel pump wire to the starter/ switch port on starter relay?
how do you which one is the output and which one is the input since they are not marked
Got 2 big connections = positive in / out. But the 2 small ones is marked I and S. Meaning?
Mechman voltage booster work with theses alts as well
So my only question here on this- in your perfect relay setup at the end for the sense wire and diodes, wouldnt it technically be best read from a seperate, dedicated run of 18 gauge directly off the rear battery bank due to the elimination of the voltage differential from front to back under load?
Brand x ftw ❤
This helped me greatly I can use my alternator now I blew out the regulator now I use external regulators and the alternator last virtually forever it's the voltage regulator is that go bad and now I can replace the voltage regulator for about $14
Thanks for the video, I just changed mine out yesterday. It did take me about 20 mins only because I didnt want to break anything but anyone can do it.
Hi. Can I run this solenoid inline with a 12V lead to my truck camper so that it cuts power from the battery when the ignition is in the 'off' position?
Hey I have a question I installed a pwm controler on my gm 2 pin alternator and now I have a battery light what can I do with the extra unused wire from the pcm to get rid of the light ???
What solder do you recommend i use thanks
Ok just got mine today and what is correct way to wire it up????on website says to wire to a Relay?? Is that necessary ,I see no relay here and much easier with out would love clarification
What about a foot switch I keep burning up on a power wheel 24volt toy jeep thanks
Good working bro
Hey Jonathan. I put a 1970 302 in a 1989 Ford Ranger. Finished except for the alternator. I need this conversation over to external regulator from internal. How can I send you a couple pictures?
Can't hear a word you're saying!
Bro I'm having huge problems with my truck not to be a Debbie downer but my house burned down my equipment to my little business burned with it and now my truck is messed up... PCM ECM alternator all is messed up idk how to fix it and now I'm broke as hell my 08 Dodge ram 1500 4.7 v 8 I've put 3 alternators, used but they say they were working but as soon as I try it it doesn't work... Idk if my truck burned them or what idk what els to do plz help
So my car is a 19 Camry which is PCM controlled charging system and has a one wire lin bus harness so I ordered an autotech 240 and voltage control module to increase my voltage I'm trying to charge around 16 15.8 minimum but I have been told by other people with a PCM controlled car and a HO alternator that majority only see 15.2 max because the car never senses the need to charge anything the new alternator will have the sense wire 3 pin can I do this in between the voltage control module and the alternator and possibly get the extra volt
The alternator is not pcm controlled you here people say the ECM controls the voltage. So call Toyota they said at every service department they don't. The techs told me a lot of alternator companies just can't build a true alternator. You need a large case and before I would ever buy a 270xp off DC power give me the truth it's not a large case. There's not enough room in there to fit it. Then you can build 14.8 fixed input regulator but that depends on what ? come out with it for $750.00 for an alternator not any reply. I'm out a lot of green, So get an old van or suburban you can run all the alternators you want. There afraid your going to burn up your Toyota. I read on forums about people's Toyota alternators acting up as they drove around for 6 months on 17 volts lol. So nothing ever burnt up and that's hard to believe but it's true. Best of luck
@@mikeanderson3565 yeah that's an old post I've got everything figured out and moved on to the actual system now and it was actually really really easy all I did was called autotech engineering and got a 240 for 425$ and the voltage control module for another 125$ or something like that and installed it and boom 15.8 charging my SCIB bank I have zero voltage drop no issues with the car period except the charging system malfunction indicator on the dash which is a modern day battery light nothing more and I don't know who you talked to but when I researched it I was told any Toyota is good up to 16v so I think maybe you are overthinking it and to be honest the car hasn't done anything that anyone said it would but I also went with the autotech recommendation of 240 amps or less I do have two buddies one at work and another in Texas both with Camry and both have high output alternator and charging at 15.8 same as me they do have some idle output issues that require nothing more than a tap of the gas pedal to smooth out and charge properly but that because they went with the large case and over 300 amps I have a small case 240 and it works like a dream but I had to figure that out on my own from seeing what the bigger alternators were doing at idle on their cars and I went with the safe option for the car because it only has 40k miles on it and plenty of life
Why was this working UNGROUNDED?
He said it was case grounded
Anyway to lower voltage on your 14.8v internal regulated alternators?
I want to know how I can put an external regulator on a alternator
Something’s I am confused about do we re solder it back? By cutting off one leg we will use one pin in the socket but external regulator has two wires ?? And finally filing down the right connector are we still using it and I am assuming it’s ground ?
Same I’m trying to wrap my head around it. I’m a straight rookie
You have field (positive) in from the regelator and negative from alternator. The second cable from the external regulator is probably going to be the W connection.
But how can I get a non regulator for my type of alternator I am converting ??
Where can we get a 4 pin and what else I need to do to connect to my minivan?
At 2:58 what is the new part your putting in because you mentioned you don't like self-exciting regulators is this not a regulator? And isn't all regulators feed by PCM?
With this you bypass the PCM
But what makes it not a PCM control if the connections to the alternator go to the PCM
I want to bypass the PCM because everything works except the charge to my battery. So far I installed new battery and new alternator, and I would like to bypass the PCM using external voltage regulator now this is not working either and I wonder it's because the alternator has a built-in regulator that prevents it from getting excited. What are your thoughts?
Can this work for 2017 Chrysler 300
Nice video thanks. If hooking up the gen light on the dash of a 78 Camero or any other older car which alternator wire would you hook in to?
Best damn video. Thank you
Good
Help
Need hell
I bought this kit from u got it today hook up with my pwm and
I have a small case denso alternator putting in my gym hummer h2 have a pwm and I bought a external voltage regulator from u and hook it up doesn’t work I clipped the leg of like the video and did not use the turn on
3 prong solenoid l/r an a screw at bottom witch one goes to batt/ att?it doesn't say?
Very informative video. This looks like a great starting point for a build I want to do this winter. I am wanting to build an alternator for my diesel power sailboat to retire my 30-year-old Ample Power 108A externally regulated alternator. It was built on the old Delco DN10 case with rewound rotor and stator and better diodes to increase the output and durability. At 2.27 you were pointing to an AC stator tap. Does this have a pin-out in the connector that I can use to give my alternator driven tachometer its signal? Is there an easy way to eliminate the internal regulator so that I can use my 3-stage smart regulator from my old Ample Power? What is the power output on this unit? My primary need from the alternator is to recharge my 560Ah LiFePo4 (LFP) battery bank. Because it will accept the full output of any alternator for hours on end, I need the external regulator so that I can current limit the output by controlling the field. I assume that this is a B-type rotor. Is there a way to convert it to an A-type. For my needs this is a safer method. My preference would be to bring both of the brush connections to the outside with case-isolated terminals. The 3-stage charging is important becuse for saftest operation, my LFP wants to bulk and short absorb at 14.1v but after maybe 30-minutes at most should drop to a float voltage of 13.5v. My external reguator does all of that along with reducing output if the alternator case gets too hot but that means external regulation is a must.
Can these be mounted under the hood or does it have to be mounted inside he cab?
You said 1n4004 give you a bump up by 0.2 volts. What would give me me 0.5 volts?
Do you have a website?? How do you know what wires are negative if there not color coded????
Good 😊
I need a diagram to connect it to a accord 2007
How will I know how many to add
Will this fit my 370 alt from pure power ? 07 Tahoe 5.3? Will this fit
Custom electronics makes a "gm slingshot" that is almost plug and play..very little wiring, very little set up..rAn one on my 07 Sierra nd 06 silverado. Custom charge voltage settings..only commenting as someone else hast
Hi. I need to either bypass or up the voltage on my 2020 malibu. Do you have a kit for that or how do o go about doing it.?
I'm putting one in a golf cart. I bought a new solenoid and forgot how to rewire. The new solenoids main terminals aren't mark "input" or "output". How do do I know which large terminal gets the positive cable from the battery and which is output to the motor?.. thanks in advance
Good bro 😊
