    This is an outstanding interview with Ken Fish. We learned all about Ken's testimony from his conversion and call to ministry to his seminary training and ministry with John Wimber and beyond. Also, Rev. Haig Kherlopian became a believer in the prophetic through the influence of Ken Fish. This is Rev. Haig's testimony: @35:22 “I remember this nurse came up [for prayer]. She was a nurse, which is also important, because people always react negatively that if you pray for healing that means you’re anti-medicine, anti-western medicine, which is not the case. It’s important to confirm that so a nurse who practices came up for prayer. I continued to pray for her after you got a word for her. She began to shake, obviously the Spirit of God was moving, I was still skeptical. But two months later, while I was walking down 3rd Ave., the nurse was honking her horn at me, telling the person next to her that that’s the pastor that prayed for me. So I went up to her window and asked her if she got better. She looked at me in complete disbelief. She got better, and that began to help me trust that God is still true to His Word, God can still heal. And I’ve seen many testimonies after that.” - Rev. Haig Kherlopian Rev. Haig and Rev. Jeremy, please put the links to your churches in the show description.

    Haig, I agree with the broad strokes of everything you say. And I too am upset by empty divisions. But I have a point of pushback. Of course, there are essentials and non-essentials. But there is a temptation to minimize the number of essentials in order to maintain unity. The councils of the church define the dogma (essentials), but these councils only arose when the lack of clarity on essentials prompted the possibility of division in the first place. Dogma is a double edged sword in that way. And even in non-essentials, there is an interval in which disagreement must exist without causing further division. The use of icons might be deemed a non-essential to call another a Christian. I agree. Christians are not commanded to use images to venerate Christ or the Saints. But an iconoclast might actually be accusing other Christians of committing the sin of idolatry. So you can say the use of icons is non-essential but the opinions must remain within certain extremities to be stable. Let's catch up soon. Disclaimer: Since we last talked I got chrismated in the Eastern Orthodox Church. So that might clarify my attitude and commitments.

    You know, I think the language of "credo-" baptism verses "paedo-"baptism is ultimately rather misleading. Those who hold the credobaptism are those who deny God's promise in baptism to those who have not first made some pledge of loyalty to Christ. They deny the baptism of the youngest children. Those who believe in the baptism of young children, indeed including the baptism of infants do not exclude a baptism for people who are older than children. Such believers (including me) believe that God's promise is simply God's promise, and indeed that very promise gives us something to believe in. Something beyond us. Something that rests in the sharing God's Word alone. What's good for one is good for all, as rightly shared through the Church according to Christ's commission. For this reason, I think a better language is an inclusive baptism.

    I can't think of many people more ignorant than Xian creationists. But as unenlightened as they are, they do know one thing: if evolution is true then Xianity is _false._ Evolution IS true. Proved up, down, left, right, backwards, forwards and six ways from Sunday by the sciences of geology, genetics and biochemistry. So Xians will have to conjure another reason Jesus had to die a bloody and torturous death cuz it ain't about some "sin" of "Adam" in a Persian garden 10,000 years ago.

    Hello. I am an atheist. I define atheism as suspending acknowledgement of the existence of gods until sufficient evidence can be presented. My position is that *_I have no good reason to acknowledge the existence of gods._* And here is the evidence as to why I currently hold to such a position. 1. I personally have never observed a god. 2. I have never encountered a person whom has claimed to have observed a god. 3. I know of no accounts of persons claiming to have observed a god that were willing or able to demonstrate or verify their observation for authenticity, accuracy, or validity. 4. I have never been presented a valid logical argument which also employed sound premises that lead deductively to a conclusion that a god(s) exists. 5. Of the 46 logical syllogisms I have encountered arguing for the existence of a god(s), I have found all to contain multiple fallacious or unsubstantiated premises. 6. I have never observed a phenomenon in which the existence of a god was a necessary antecedent for the known or probable explanation for the causation of that phenomenon. 7. Several proposed (and generally accepted) explanations for observable phenomena that were previously based on the agency of a god(s), have subsequently been replaced with rational, natural explanations, each substantiated with evidence that excluded the agency of a god(s). I have never encountered _vice versa._ 8. I have never experienced the presence of a god through intercession of angels, divine revelation, the miraculous act of divinity, or any occurrence of a supernatural event. 9. Every phenomenon that I have ever observed has *_emerged_* from necessary and sufficient antecedents over time without exception. In other words, I have never observed a phenomenon (entity, process, object, event, process, substance, system, or being) that was created _ex nihilo_ - that is instantaneously came into existence by the solitary volition of a deity. 10. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have encountered have either been refuted to my satisfaction, or do not present as falsifiable. ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the existence of a god. I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. Atheism is simply withholding such acknowledgement until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. *_It is natural, rational, and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstatiated claims, especially extraordinary ones._* I welcome any cordial response. Peace.

    Indeed, fine tuning is a horrible argument, and I think Douglas Adams had the best reply to it with his sentient puddle analogy. Of course everything seems finely tuned to life as we know it, since life happened under these circumstances. Regarding the comparison to fiction, I would say a good story also needs an ending, and thus I would say eternal life is not really satisfying either, after all even soap operas eventually come to an end, since people want a conclusion to their story and I think death is actually a good ending. Sure, it might come some times too early and thus someone who still had plans might feel like it was unnecessarily cut short, but there are people who peacefully die after an fulfilling life. I hope to be the latter, but honestly I would not mind to die tomorrow or even today either. That the story of Jesus hit a nerve at the time seems to me more an argument against the historicity of Jesus than for it. Like mentioned it doesn't happened with other people, so it is reasonable to assume that what makes the story appealing is exactly because it is fiction and like the Iliad that talks about certain historical facts, like Troy having been an actual city, but it spices it up with demigods and otherwise divine interventions. So, I would say the gospels are basically the same, a story for the time, like we have today all the superhero comics and films that also try to address aspects of the human condition. Anyway, I expected something different from the video, since the title was not really addressed, all I got was their testimony. I mean it came up only the last 3 minutes but was there only a mention and not really explored.

    • @christcoffee1368
      @christcoffee1368 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all, Thank you for listening! Greatly appreciate it. You bring up some good points. I would give more credit to the first century witness. What we cannot deny regardless of ones belief is that 1) Jesus existed he wasn't a made up person. 2) that he died under Pontius Pilate. 3) that all the early Christians believed that he rose from the grave and were willing to die for the message and some of them did. The belief that someone came back to life and is alive was just as radical as it sounds today as it was back then. I don't know anyone who would die for Captian America or Iron Man. Though the movies are pretty sweet.
