How to change a carburetor on a gy6 powered moped 50cc
In this video I am taking off the old carburetor and replacing it with a new performance carb.
After the video ends I went on a ride and it really does make more power and accelerates faster.
Carburetor that I used: amz.run/5eHw

      If you are able to fabricate new frame mounts, I don't see why not.

    I've done everything you demonstrated ten times. I've fixed scooters motorcycles and all. Wtching you do this was so satisfying. Sometimes you just want confirmation what you are doing is right. Somebody else demonstrated how the gas cap lid vent can be plugged stopping the gas from coming in. That was a new one on me. Thanks for the great video.

      I have never ran into that issue. You could see if you can swap out the studs to longer ones possibly. Are you positive that it is a gy6 motor? There are a couple that look similar but are different.

      The new carburetor comes with a filter that is much less restrictive. But if you would like you can still use the stock one, it should still hook up the same way.

      I bought the scooter with the stock filter and airbox which are very restrictive. I noticed a big difference in acceleration and top speed. The top speed is probably because I needed a new carb though.

      This is a $30 carburetor. You cant really expect super quality parts. I put a new one on every year for the convenience of it. This video is just to show the installation of a new carb whatever kind someone orders.

    The seat bucket is all you have to remove to do carb work. Clean carb and 85 to 90 jet. Where is the motor shroud for fan cooling? Don't you have a vac. Fuel peacock?

    • @bananajuice125
      @bananajuice125 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was easier to remove what I did. I a shroud ordered but it had not come in yet. I have not put on a petcock but I plan on soon. Also, this is a cheap replacement for people to use as a convenience.

    Do I have to replace my carb with one made for a 50cc or can I use a bigger carb from a 125cc like a 22mm or 24mm carb? I have a gy6 49cc with 72cc bbk, aftermarket exhaust, 5gram variator rollers, orange cdi and coil, and maxing out at 41mph

      New carb made all the difference, and the open air filter. Now running a 24mm carb and it climbs hills and accelerates exactly how I expected a 72cc kit to perform.

    a rubber O ring sitting on a paper gasket seems a bit strange can guarantee its doing nothing would of made more sense to put the paper gasket on the flat side the o ring is surely there to but up against something

    • @SteveShelby
      @SteveShelby 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It butts up against the ridge of the o ring. not enough pressure to worry about any sealant.

    I'm going to do this a icebear 150cc. Question will need to adjusted air/fuel screw and the idle? Also is it ok to mount fuel filer above the petcock with a shut off valve closer to tank.

    • @bananajuice125
      @bananajuice125 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might need to adjust the screws depending on the air filter that you use. If you use the one that comes with it, you should be fine. As for the idle, it should be fine as it is as long as it will idle with the new carb. Just make sure that you order a 150cc carb as the one that is linked is for 50cc.

    how much faster wuill the moped go with this carburator?

    • @bananajuice125
      @bananajuice125 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still had the stock 17 year old carb on it, so the new one gave me faster acceleration and it was able to rev higher for more speed. Though I have not actually tested the actual numbers.
