My name is Agnes and I'm a 22 year old full time oil painter working from my kitchen :) Here I share me and my fiances lives as two artists trying to make it work !
my biggest commission ever
Here you can see the process of me working on a commission from a company in sweden. This is the first time I've completed a commission of this size, and with such free hands thematically, so it was a big and inspiring challenge. Oil on canvas 70x140cm. The assignment was to do a personal interpretation of a building here in Malmö

KOREA VLOG - best thrift stores in seoul and reconnecting with family

This is a vlog featuring clips from me and my fiancé's Korea trip (July 2024) Most of it will, as always, be spent vintage shopping but the main reason why we went is to visit my grandmother and relatives. I am the daughter of a Swedish-korean adoptee so for most of my life, my korean family were strangers and Korea was a foreign place. It's been so beautiful, reconnecting with my heritage. I h...

I absolutely love this series as the subjects are very dear to my heart and the absolute joy on their faces when I handed them the copies of their portraits. Many tears and hugs were shared and I realised that this type of "normal" people usually aren't even considered for portraits. I think they're all absolutely beautiful and I miss them daily. Every time I show the series I can't stop myself...

Day in the Life of a Full time Artist - VLOG - oil painting in our one room apartment
This is very much what I felt when I studied Literature in Uni to become a writer. It made me overthink everything I wrote and many of my colleagues and the entire programme environment was very snobbish. Ten years later I've managed to start writing again, with confidence.
Too many painters who are not black doa hatchet job on black skin tones. Yours, however, are beautifully natural. Also, I love your style. It seems to flow from you effortlessly
It's like when some people have the audacity to say "anime" isn't real art.. Like wut??
Hi dear. You are thinking too much. Also, you need to make money, do it how you can. I am afraid that that is how you will be able to sustain yourself, by making money. There is nothing wrong with doing things that provide you with sustenance. I promise you with every painting , you are learning more than you know. You aren’t your thoughts at all and you are not a fraud girl you created everything you have !!! It’s only you!
Their is a war on beauty they want you to make ugly art to demoralise society, its the same reason modern architecture is ugly, modern cars everything in the modern world is trying to demoralise us.
I dropped out for the same reasons after taking two academic vacations. I was often told that my art style is bad without any explanations, and that I should stop drawing fantasy stuff and do more conceptual stuff instead of illustration. It didn't come naturally to me and I finally had a mental break as well as some physical health issues bc of working until super late and only getting like a few hours of sleep for months. I quit and now studying smh else just so I could have a day job until I can get into making art as a business. It took me two years to even want to create something again. I used to cry every time i tried to draw something, because it just didn't feel good enough. Just this month I decied to try pixel art and I finally feel interest in art again.
that's my girl

Hi, I absolutely love these kinds of videos - they are so interesting and inspiring to watch so thank you for making them!! Is it possible for me to work out how much your prints and posters cost in British pounds? On your website are the prices listed in Euros?
@@daisyadams7972 hello! Ah thankyou so much! And the prices are in USD so a print would be 12 British Pounds :)
@AgnesHjalArt oh thank you!!! I'll hopefully buy some soon then ☺️
I see what you mean. It’s weird. Thankful I found the Drawing academy and The animation workshop here in Denmark. It was a huge struggle.. trying to find the right school. But now I’m good What you’re doing is art… what they’re doing is bullshit. I do think doing pure art fundamental studies is important. It’s just that.. you can find online courses with feedback too, if art schools don’t provide what you’re looking for. Or Atelieirs, private mentors. Or just paying a live model.
where can i buy?
Big fan of your artist journey and paintings. So happy you got this massive commission. Your style is amazing.
Thankyou!
" i give up looking good for this channel two months in" you're so real for this 😂😂💖💖 i'm so in love with the raw and humanity of your art it touches me greatly since i also explore these themes in my work. beautiful work agnes!!!
this is such a lovely and humane interpretation of the brief :-) loved this!!
Glad you like it!
Love this so so much! The painting goes so well with your other work and screams that it was made by you! I bet this is exactly what the client wanted even if they didn't know it yet! You inspire me to no end!❤
Thankyou do much Fiona <333
You are so talented! I am a big fan of your videos even though I don’t paint. Happy to see your process!
i’m about to start my biggest commission ever too!! it feels like we’re painting together 💖
That’s so cozy!! ❤️ i love when people paint to my videos!
so so sorry about the audio quality on this video, especially in the beginning 😬 if you find it unbearable, it gets a bit better from 5:00 and forward ❤
Not all schools are like that. It highly depends on school and location. Though toxicity (coming from some teachers) and strict following of school traditions is smth I also experienced. Art wasn't smth abstract, it contained tons of technical methods. And another extreme: anything not about actual drawing/painting was viewed as useless even by teachers so was almost nonexistent in the whole process. We could come and go at any time to work on final projects, and it was never a problem to join another group or find a special place for additional studying. Ah, I miss it so much :D
I think that the best option to get into art education and avoid getting lots amounts of debt is just doing ateliers, I am thinking of going to art school but the whole amount of money and the debt and job prospectives just makes me think going to some atelliers
I think a lot of claims you make here are true not only of art school but of any institutionalized education system. As someone that decided not to pursue an art degree also because of personal and mental health reasons, your video has really resonated with me, I'm glad you were able to find a different way that worked for your path as an artist! And really loved the canvases in the background, got yourself a new subscriber and a fan of your art!
You know what I quit Architecture because lot of people look down to others architect. They feel all of thems are competitors. And I am starting right now my art journey and I was so shock that the experience of you and me are just the same. The difference is that our studies. Maybe I just want to be alone. 😵
Life is a journey, and thank you for sharing yours with us. Love how it segued into a k-drama in the middle. Take care!
Hiihi, thankyou so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
I can imagine how you feel about your family. I grew up separated from my family too. I lived in England with my father's s family as a baby and up until I was six but then we had to flea from my violent father and cut all contact with my family too. I tried reconnecting with them when I was 15 and went to visit them like you did your family for a few times. It was very surreal for me to see how much we had in common and how similar we were in some ways despite me not growing up there. There are and we're a lot of weird feelings and the lost time is always present somehow. I had to end up cutting ties again due to my father. He just makes it unsafe and impossible for any of us to have a proper relationship. It hurts me so much since I feel a deep connection especially to my grandmother who is so much like me in so many ways. I also miss the country so much. I had my best childhood memories there and feel so deeply rooted in the culture. However it is not possible for me to move or visit any longer due to my physical decline. It all hurts a lot and makes me feel a weird kind of longing for home. I never had any other family. It was always my mother and me. Now she is dying of Alzheimers. She often does not remember me. I loose her over and over. It breaks my heart daily. When she is gone I will be left all alone in a country that does not feel like my home. Family can be so complicated. On a good note though. This was a wonderful video and I enjoyed it immensely. It is such a work of art and has the coolest vibe! Since watching your other blogs I have gotten even more obsessed with Asian culture and decor and I have thrifted so many cool antique and vintage items from the relatives of Asian immigrants that no longer want them. I bet you'd appreciate them just as much as I do! You have such a great taste. 😊
I relate to this so much… 4 generations of my family since Korean war had not stepped foot in Korea yet all of us are raised as Koreans, grew up with Korean food and even traditions. We are our own kind from all over the world but having no family in Korea, I know that when I get the chance to visit there I will be a total stranger on top of being mixed. My personal identity had been completely messed with and I had to find out for myself who I am. Being a third generation third culture kid is not an easy thing to figure out but at least it provides me a deeper meaning for my artistic works. 🙏🏼
Wow! Thankyou so much for sharing your story and i can really relate <3 and so cool that you also use artwork to figure ut all out :0 ! When you have the chance i really recommend visiting, my first time was only last year and it was one of the most special experiences of my life <3

A college dropout here 🫶🏻 I can relate to what you went through in many ways. I started college when I was 21, I studied fashion design. In retrospect, I feel like I was too young mentally to truly understand what I wanted and like the pressure from home and society to make a decision like that isn’t fit to everyone at this age. Second, all the technical stuff I couldn’t learn in class since there were one professor teaching 40 students, and I’m with ADD, dyslexic and I just can’t understand in these situations. So 80% of my studies were done from TH-cam ( even 10 years ago there was plenty of videos that taught sewing 😂). I feel like these days you can learn almost everything online. I taught myself so many things from art to knitting to languages. We don’t need to go into adulthood with huge debts anymore.
i just started uni and due to complaints of previous students about doing classes that aren't going to help them, they've said that i dont need to go to each workshop or class, if theres a workshop that doesnt interest me or help me progress i dont necessarily need to attend and they said its perfectly fine if i dont want to learn some of the things that theyre teaching (like sculpting, plastering, and printmaking). they give me lots of freedom to do the things i want to do, and im really happy with the course so far. theres life drawing workshops coming this week for me and im gonna try and make sure to tell the tutors to keep doing them since it will help me progess, and im sure theres many other students in my class that want more too.
they even have a whole forum where people can anonymously put out feedback to help improve the course which is cool
man i wish my school was like that. mine is so awful. my “drawing” class has taught us nothing and its taught by a poet who doesn’t draw. nothing wrong with being a poet but id at least want the person trying to teach drawing to have drawn before. we kind of just get instructed to draw and that’s it. we don’t learn any new skills and we literally did for one class out of the entire semester. i really hate it because i just can’t learn like this. i’m contemplating dropping out
Current art schools are geared toward teaching contemporary art, I was told. I think you have a bit more freedom in graduate school.
I love your channel so much I’ve never found anything like it!! Big love from Aus
@@mayaatthedinosaurstudio4698 aw that makes me so happy, thankyou <3
it sounds really really scandinavian artsceney to be honest haha
Criticizing her for posting art online to make it “accessible to the public”? Bruh if ur art is all hidden and not accessible to the public, _how r u gonna get discovered and get paid?!_ 😂😭 Also what I was always taught is that the whole point of art is to share it! As a performing artist, if I worked hard to choreograph a dance, but never performed it or posted it anywhere, I’d just get depressed. & the classical vs. modern debate is so subjective. Ima ballet dancer that thinks modern dance is a bit out there and not my cup of tea, but I wouldn’t look down on modern dancers & id hope they’d respect my preference for classical in return. All styles of art are valid, even if different ppl appreciate and gravitate toward different styles :p 🤷♀️👍
I want to draw you
It was absolutely brave for you to make that decision! I started making art portfolio (for art college) last year and I quit it as soon as I finished my first project. Every single school requires you to have some stupid “reason” or “logic chain” of your art work, but sometimes I just created it because I think I’ll look nice! The whole “why” thing is too stressful that I immediately decided that it’s not for me as soon as l realized it. Now I’m launching my own art brand and I’m doing very well! Can’t imagine what kind of a misery I’m in if I finished my portfolio and went to the art school.
i honestly don’t think that reason thing is all that bad. it kind of made me describe my work in a better way but i agree there doesn’t always need to be a deeper meaning. it looking good is a good enough reason! but i do think it’s important to be able to describe what you made with more technical terms
@ Yes you’re right! I like to create my art for a deeper meaning too, so that It kind of has an energy flow or something. But I just think it’s stressful to be forced to assign meaning to every single project. Meaningless art has a unique calm and confortable vibe. You know sometimes it’s one thing when you genuinely want to do something, but it’s a whole other thing when you are forced to do it even when you don’t feel like doing it.
4:55 boi whatever is written is like you're describing me ugh
Before this I saw a video of a 99-year-old man who paints. I was impressed until I found out he did monochromatic canvases. Then I remembered there must be at least some limits to what we call art... Your paintings are amazing and say a lot more than a one-colored canvas ever could
I am sad to hear these things. Was encouraged to go to art school by my elementary teacher but still I wasn't really that gifted or determined. In my broader family I have one recognized artist, Cvetko Lainovic, he was able to draw amazing portraits with just a pencil in about 5 mins. I just think you should never give up on what you feel your true calling is plus your paintings are amazing! Maybe people who really want to paint all the time should just do it without going to all those schools. I wish all people would recognize true art and pause to find meaning in it. Regardless of that, the most important thing is you love it. Following you rn!
girl i attempted self exit while in art school i quit too it was AWFUL i GET u
Great painting of the dinner table. You are an artist , no doubt about that 🧡💛💚
