​@@MarkEdwards Errr .......... Fords are seriously bad for rust. I inherited a 2007 Ka Mk1 from my old man tha he bought from new. Only 4.5k miles on the clock. Never used in winter, but underneath it was still dissolving before your eyes. Awful lack of rust protection. Compare it with my mother's Renault Clio 1.2 8v, 2005, same 3 dr like the KA, again bought from new, one owner, but now 120k miles on the clock used in all weathers but no rot on it anywhere. I service it. Properly. I drive Peugeots myself which have far superior rust protection and no rot on mine. British and Italian cars are the worst for rot. I had few Fiats and Lancias years ago and you could see them rust in front of your eyes, plus the electrics were terrible. Also German cars aren't that great either. You can see quite a few young corroded Mercs on the roads.

I've got the same job to do on a fwd RS2000, my plan is to cut up another roof skin, joggle around the edge and panel bond it in 🤔 although mine's red and it's a rally car! Fair play, I think you’ve put so much graft in, I would personally finish the prep get it nice and straight and get in a spray booth that will show your hard work off !! I prepped my mk1 and painted the bay etc looked great but there’s to much dirt flying around for the top coat 🤞

I can’t help you, cos I’ve just looked where I got mine from and the price has tripled 😱 There are probably cheaper alternatives that do exactly the same job, but I haven’t tried them🤷‍♂️
