My little buddy
This little fella turned up in my front yard in early December 2021. He is a juvenile Rainbow Lorikeet who couldn't seem to fly. I get a lot of Lorikeets in my yard so maybe he followed the sound. I chased him around til I caught him and brought him inside, gave him a drink and a feed. I set up one of my large cages for him. We became friends quite quickly and he would spend most of the day sitting on my shoulder while I did my day to day routine of feeding the birds and gardening. Anything I ate, he wanted some. I went for walks with him to obtain blooms from which lorikeets eat the pollen and nectar. One time he took off from my shoulder handmade it across the road to a low tree. I had started encouraging him to fly more often, mostly he would just fly down off my shoulder to the ground maybe 3-5m away. I made him sit with the other lorikeets even though he would mostly just try to get back onto my shoulder. Sometimes when all the lorikeets would hear a warning and fly off he would also attempt to do so. One time he made it over the back fence and was calling from over there on the driveway. I had to walk around half a block to get there but I picked him up and he was happy. A couple more times after that he took off and I couldn't find him only to have him turn up an hour later hopping along the ground in the back yard. One of these times he flew over the fence up higher into a tree. I tried to coax him down but he just ignored me and was feasting on the blooming flowers. It started to rain and then a really big storm blew in and he was gone. This video is a combination of the early morning ritual play sessions after his morning feed and 'meet and greet' with the other birds. I do miss him.

Synth sequenced polyrhythms are the bread and butter of this score. It is, after all, a show about synthetics.

I heard some birds making a little commotion and warning calls in the backyard and went to the door to see what it was about. There was a Kookaburra on the clothesline (hills hoist) looking up into the trees above him. I followed his gaze and spotted a brownish shape quite high up which I thought may have been a pigeon. (my eyes aren't what they used to be) when I saw the other birds were all l...

Rainbow lorikeets bathing in my lunchbox
มุมมอง 90K11 ปีที่แล้ว
I went to have lunch in the park one day and I was surrounded by a group of very friendly lorikeets (who I had met before) They ate my grapes and my apple so I thought they might be thirsty after all that food so I put some water in my lunchbox. They decided to put the water to another more amusing use. Later in the video a couple of tourists saw them and asked me if they were all my birds ... ...
How fortunate are we Aussies? This type of thing occurs unheralded wherever rainbow lorries prolificate,
Que coisa linda! 👌👍😍🇧🇷
Eles são criaturas bonitas, Eles são muito abundantes, mas ainda surpreendem até mesmo os mais familiares.
Thank you for sharing, my Lori watch it all the time, she get excited every time I show her the vedio ❤

They are beautiful! They need more water containers like long rectangular ones and at least 3 watet containers. There are cheap plastic ones at the clearance store. I care so much about the Lord's wonderful Creation...
They are wild animals and I was having some lunch in the park with only my lunchbox and water bottle available.
@@richmanaust I'm sorry friend. You are so kind giving up your only lunch box and bottle of water to these precious rainbow Lorikeets! Thank you for your being so kind to these beautiful birdlife. Please accept my apologies! May God bless you and your family too!💕💕 Note: Please visit our Video Series of Lorikeets as well. It says, "Wonderful Lorikeets on the Island." Thank you kindly, Marie Chona Davis xx

Nice synth work! Great sequencing. I like your vision! Good Luck!
Thanks Jeff.
I enjoyed seeing this. You said this Sparrowhawk's prey was a Mynah bird huh? That would be the mimicking type! I wonder if he said to the hawk "No don't eat me hawk!"? That wouldn't have helped! The hawk was indeed pretty hungry! I did notice this hawk was looking around a lot even though it seems like he was eating very quickly! But I wouldn't say he was aggressive at it! He would have still eaten him the same exact way even if he had a half-full crop beforehand.
I don't know whether the Indian mynah bird is a mimicking one but they are an introduced species over here and are considered a pest by most. When I first saw the Sparrowhawk the mynah was already missing its head so not much chance of witnessing the conversation.
This saddened me to the point of tears I have many beautiful wild birds native and feral come to feed. I watch in sheer panic as these birds flee when to me this nuisance unwanted bird terrorizes them even I can't see how anyone finds enjoyment in this my opinion only. That's why I have every deterrent in place to protect our beautiful birds. 8 know it's natural and nature to me it's me worst nightmare.😥🐦🐦🐦😘
You should never call any hawk a "nuisance"! Even though Sparrowhawks only catch birds, they do catch invasive species of birds as well. For example, House Sparrows are an invasive species that will raid Bluebirds nests. They'll knock the eggs out of the nest where they'll splat on the ground. Here's the sad part, the sparrows won't even eat the eggs afterwards! They do that just to get rid of the competition! So if a Sparrowhawk were to catch a House Sparrow, then the hawk would saving the Bluebirds in the process! So there is some good that can come from watching a Sparrowhawk in your backyard. So next time you see one, you should simply just enjoy watching and observing it hunting! I know you got your own opinions, but if you wanted a fair competition between all the birds, you should get rid of those deterrents and let them all thrive. Otherwise, there can an ecosystem change that will be off-balance.
I am glad that I am doing all possible to keep my wild birds safe respect everybody's personal choice and opinion not mine. We want to have the sheer pleasure to watch our birds calm relax and enjoy the peace safe environment we have created for them. No matter what measures I have to be put in place Hawkes belong to the ecosystem just not mine. I watch one carrying off a bird and the other birds trying to rescue it e including myself in was heartwrenching. As I said prior to each their not a fan never will .

Watching this video while my laurikeet is on my shoulder :P
Oh no I hope these guys are ok right now with all the smog and fires. :-| I love how close you can get though. They really seem to be ok with people. Love it. You should open a Lorikeet Public Baths for them. XD
Don't sorry mate. This happens every decade or so in Australia. The birds are in the heart of the biggest city in Austrsla. No bushfire will get close. I went down to Sydney for a photo shoot on the worst smokey day during the fires. I met up with some of my old mates there in the park. They are safer than me.
Richman Aust Aww! Relieves me to hear that. Thanks! Keep on with the birbs. Seeing them there is amazing.
yep the good thing about lorikeets and many birds is they do just fine in cities as long as theres plenty of trees around. They have adapted and learned to take advantage of humans.
Thank you for sharing these films! They bring joy & happiness to those of us in colder climates. (Minnesota, USA) I watch all your films.
Thank you Kari. Unfortunately I have recently moved and miss my befriended birds. I am endeavouring to encourage some new friends at my new place. I have some older vids that I will find, edit and post when I get time.
I have 3 RainbowBow Lorikeets as pets there are amazing and cute🌈🥰
Lol showed this video to my lorikeet and he just sat on my hand watching, not sure if it was the video or phone he was more interested in I think it was a toss up lol
I’m about to own a rainbow Lori. THEYRE SO GORGEOUS!
How are u doing with the lori
I actually purchased an Umbrella Cockatoo that was previously at a petting zoo instead. The previous owner couldn’t keep him due to him and his wife about to have a baby in the home. He’s BEAUTIFUL! Knows so many words, speaks wonderfully and greets you with excitement when he sees you come through the door. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have him. He’s AMAZING! Don’t tell my husband. But I prefer my U2 over him. 😂 🤣
Awesome! Love these colorful birds.
Some people think they are a nuisance. I have lived around them since the 1960s and still love them. There are a lot around where I live now and they have become so used to me they sit on my hand and eat my breakfast before it gets to my mouth. Be it muesli, oatmeal or toast.
@@richmanaust Those people have bad taste and don't like nature. I live near Parklea. And there are a lot of them living on the trees here, I would like to photograph these colourful birds. I have never experienced wild parrots getting so close to Humans. Love the one that got wet and rolled over in the video.

How cute. I love them. We have got 4 of them......
Where I live now there are about 40-50 that turn up each morning for a few bowls of honey water. A few then proceed to fly straight into me latching onto my shirt or hoodie and searching my pockets for peanuts or biting my ear. If I eat my breakfast/lunch outside they just either sit on the toast eating it, sitting on the bowls edge eating muesli or on my hands attacking my food. It can be a bit of a chore. There are a few that hang around but most go off and cadge another feed from neighbors down the street.
Our do that too. They also love honeywater or the pure honey. I have got a video on my channel, where my Barbossa puts his tongue in a honey pot. If you want to see it, you find it under the keyword "Barbossa is Happy", or just click on my foto and look in the playlist "Loriteam Duisburg", then you will find more videos ;-). A nice day to you....
Richman Aust They're that friendly? Oh my god I'm in the wrong country. I mean I could feed a few gulls... 🤔 Looks awesome. Thanks for sharing the videos.
A really great video you put together! unfortunately I haven't seen an echidna in the wild for a long time. Thanks for sharing and excellent footage :)
I love these little birds but I've not encountered quite so many before. Thanks for sharing and lovely footage :)
very appropriate title you put and what an excellently well filmed video as well! Thanks for sharing :)
I'm glad you liked it and thanks for the comment.
haha, yes these lorikeets usually like to bathe in all sorts of outdoor places! Thanks for sharing and must have been quite fun being surrounded buy these colourful flurries.
