Baking Stollen, the German sweet bread, is a must. This year I tried a new recipe, a Dresdener Stollen from the Internet, because my two recipes from Germany always turn out very dry. I was late making it, so we have to wait until the new year to taste it. My favorite cookie is a layered shortbread with rosehip jam in the middle, also from Germany. I hope to try a recipe or two from you and your viewers.

I am a new subscriber and love seeing anything and everything about home decorating. My partner and I just bought a 20-year-old farmhouse in a semi rural area of northern Michigan, and I am enjoying decorating it. And I am also integrating so many things from my family and his family, plus some fun finds from antiques and charity shops. Finally! I moved back here from Germany 13 years ago-for love-and I have waited this long to have a home to make special. It has been wonderful learning from you in the few videos I have seen. Please continue!

I appreciate the reminder to slow down and take time to do things with care and attention to detail. That can be hard to do in this busy season, but it feeds our souls. I was up long before the light this morning to make yeast roll dough that will be made into rolls for Christmas dinner. Baking with yeast is a process that can't be hurried, so instead of feeling grumpy about my missed sleep, I made a cup of tea in a mug that belonged to my mom, turned on lots of twinkle lights, and just enjoyed the process. It was a little gift to myself before the busyness of Christmas comes rushing in again.
