The two teams - "The DJs" and "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly" - go head to head in an epic ten-part contest to see who's snooker knowledge is the best. There are some fiendishly difficult anagrams of snooker players' names to be unraveled in this episode. Who on earth could "A Nylon Stride" be? Part 3 of 10.

Davis vs Parrott - First Round Decider Drama!
มุมมอง 7214 หลายเดือนก่อน
In 2007 John Parrott and Steve Davis met for the last ever time in the world championship in this first round clash and almost inevitably the score arrived at 9-9 with a decider needed to sort out who would go through. This frame will never be remembered as a classic, but it is notable for a tricky situation involving a red over a corner pocket which Parrott tries to remove with the black and i...

มุมมอง 2174 หลายเดือนก่อน
Stephen Hendry made history during his 2009 world championship second round match against Ding Junhui by becoming the first player ever to win 1,000 frames there at The Crucible, and what's more he did it in style with a magnificent 140 total clearance. Hendry went on to win the match 13-10, beating Ding at the same stage of the tournament for the second year in a row.
Wenbo Cheats Against Joe Swail...?
มุมมอง 77K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
It's time for a little bit of controversy here on Snooker Break. Here is an interesting incident from the 2008 world snooker championship second round match between Joe Swail and Liang Wenbo (in his debut year there.) It involves a miss incident in which the cue ball is replaced incorrectly which seems to allow Wenbo to play a different shot on his second attempt. Was too much made of it - Joe ...

Well, we've all heard them on the commentary in recent years - John Virgo and Alan McManus, that is - but what were they like when they were playing? Here they face off in the last 16 of the 1992 Mercantile Credit Classic in a best of nine frames match. Also of interest is the ITV snooker presentation from over thirty years ago.

มุมมอง 1K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Part 9 of 10. In this fascinating series, Steve Davis leaves no stone unturned as he delves into the history of snooker. This is the story of snooker in the 1970s... Pot Black, the dominance of Ray Reardon, the rise of The Hurricane and Terry Griffiths winning the world title at his first attempt in 1979.
The History Of Snooker Part 8 - The Closed Shop
มุมมอง 6036 หลายเดือนก่อน
Part 8 of 10. In this fascinating series, Steve Davis leaves no stone unturned as he delves into the history of snooker. Back in the 60s and 70s it was far from easy for players to turn professional and some potentially great players never got the chance because there were so few opportunities, or perhaps because they were seen as the wrong sort of character.

Part 3 of 10. In this fascinating series, Steve Davis leaves no stone unturned as he delves into the history of snooker. This episode tells the story of the famous billiard player Walter Lindrum, who didn't even like snooker, but if his dominance of billiards hadn't been so total that he all but killed the game off, then perhaps snooker wouldn't have taken over...

10:20 He looks older there (about a couple of decades before) than he does in this interview.
Ha ha those two have previous form giggling but I have to say Jill Douglas is a class presenter.
Great interview Steve. Ray and Steve both won the title 6 times.I remember going to see Ray and Cliff Wilson playing an expedition match in Newport,South Wales in 1982,after he lost to Alex Higgins. Pure entertainment....God bless you Ray..x
Thank you very much! It's probably the only footage including Charlton's painful and prophetic words after his lose to Reardon in 1978: "I don't think I'll ever win this championship. I'm going to keep trying but there's no way I'm ever going to win this championship". (6:49) The other Crucible documentaries showing just Reardon's reaction - all of this "gin and tonic" stuff.
@@SnookerHeroes You're welcome. Yes, poor old Eddie. He and Jimmy White both missed out.
Seniors in 2024 would just be the current top players as playing in their prime at 40+ is common now.
Alex break greatest break of all time rip Alex thanks for the memories growing up in the 80s 🙏🎱
Awesome Video 😯
2 great champions
I'll miss ray great man rip great man you where as good as my idol Steve Davis a legend ❤ love and miss you ❤❤
Two great champions together 6 time world champions fantastic they are fantastic well done lads 6 time champions great ❤
Note to everyone - he makes this look incredibly easy when it’s actually incredibly hard
I always liked Willie Thorne. He was very honest about himself with Steve. I always loved it when him and Denis Taylor were co-commentating on a match. They were the best.
Yes Dave, I always liked Sir Bob and Nick Luck is a great presenter, I'm surprised he hasn't got a gig presenting other/bigger sports. It might be at my end but are you having sound problems ? Just it seemed a bit too quiet even though I had the volume on full.
It's funny Willie Thorne said 5:45 In 2024 John Higgins became the second player in snooker history to make 1000 pro century breaks.
Thanks
Lamentable. The epitome of mediocrity.
Get out your chair and have a look then, shove it, opponents means opponents sucker.
Sadly both of these two gentlemen are no longer with us. RIP Alex and RIP Clive.
Just brilliant!! R I P Clive Everton another of the great voices of snooker along with ted Lowe and jack Karnhem.
I remember watching this match back in the day and everything going haywire! Great laughs and great times, RIP Clive Everton recently, best commentator ever in my opinion, I'll never forget him commentating on Stephen Hendry's 7th World title win, Dennis Taylor was great after this and everyone was in hysterics.... brill!
Hello. Could you reupload, even for just a short while, the first part of the "21 Years in the Frame", please? I would be grateful. I archived the other two parts but lost the first one.
@SnookerHeroes Hello. Sorry I've not been on here much lately due to an illness in the family. Bear with me and I'll put it up again for you to get it when I can.
@@SnookerBreak Thank you.
@SnookerHeroes Hello. I've just put part 1 of 21 Years In The Frame up again as you requested - sorry it took so long. Let me know when you've downloaded it as I don't want to leave it up for long because of copyright.
@@SnookerBreak I've downloaded it and now I have the complete series. Thank you once more.
RIP Clive. ☹
Frank, despite not coming across that well in interviews, had great instinct with snooker. He saw things in a player nobody else could. Imagine if Doug Mountjoy had met him in the 70's? He'd have certainly won the World Championship at least once. Even Ronnie asked him for advice.
RIP.
Rip Clive legend ❤
RIP Clive ❤
What happened to the music ?
@Adam-o1x2t I had to remove it to get past a copyright claim. TH-cam have a tool now to do this.
THE voice of Snooker ❤ RIP Ted Lowe
I would rather take on the shot if there was a chance of setting up winning the world title.
What a gentleman, snooker champion and on occasion a bit of a character. RIP Ray! You sir will never be forgotten. 🙏🏻
¡Un grande Constantino Romero! Te doblaba a Clint Eastwood como te ganaba un campeonato mundial de snooker.
Times have changed now.
Love his Explanations ! Miss Him Dearly ! RIP Willie ❤❤
What a Master of Break building ! A True Strategist and Artisan !
Anyone notice a very young Judd Trump in the audience when he plays the trick shot?
The GOAT of commentary. Take care. Tom
Unreal talent
Fred was a great person,player 👏👏👏
Great video mate thanks. Tom
@@tomrailton9201 You're welcome. Thsnks.
Beautiful..😂
Willie touches on the changes in equipment and centre-ball striking. He's got a point. When players made their living on the winter exhibition circuit, before the days of regular big money tournaments; they'd be playing every week in damp rooms on club tables that weren't always level, with heavy cloths, slow cushions and unresponsive balls that had seen better days. Kicks were the norm rather than the exception. You had to play with side most of the time to get any action on the cueball. Balls would go to the cushions to die there. You rarely see balls on the cushion rail these days. Snooker was less of a stun game than it is today as you had to get run on the ball. A fifty break was really impressive on some of those tables of the '70s. Willie was a hell of a player and it's snooker's great loss that he never won more tournaments. Steve came along and blew many of Willie's generation away.
legends
A wonderful set of videos. Brilliant for fans of the game!
When i watch this i cant believe Willie didnt dominate his era he was that good. His positional side is so instinctive.
its a good job it was not at the begining of the frame because dennis had gone
Terry griffiths retired too early.
When it came to explaining shot selections and talking the audience thought a break, Willie was the best snooker commentator by far.
I was a ray reardon fan but in reality willie was a far better player.
WT was on fire here. What an amazing insight to the game this man had. RIP.
Absolute snooker legend, RIP Ray, you'll never be forgotten.
