The Untethered Soul - Full Audiobook Narration
มุมมอง 62K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello! This is my narration of 'The Untethered Soul' by Michael A. Singer. This book contains some genuinely great chapters that have heavily influenced my perception of the "self" and my identification with it. I chose to record this narration, not because it is a solid book through and through, but rather because the parts in which it hits, it hits out of the park. Going into this book with s...

In The Walls - Scary Story Reading
มุมมอง 48ปีที่แล้ว
This is a Reddit scary story reading of a short called 'In The Walls'. It's my first time uploading and I wanted to get it out without being too nit-picky regarding the captions and pronounciations, but as I get more attuned and consistent with uploads I will improve with it. Any criticism is welcome and appreciated! Cheers. Hope you enjoy (:

    This has become one of my favorite books. I love it so much. Could not put it down. However I cannot except the part around chapter 1 at about 13-14 min in. It stated that your thoughts have far less impact on the world around you and they have no effect on anything or anybody except you. I believe this to be a false statement in my perception because when you have a thought you create a feeling which in return creates a vibration sent out to the ones around you. We can feel energy and I know if a person is thinking negative or positive intuitively we become aware of one’s thoughts by the resonance they emit. It’s the basic innate essence amongst the greater as a whole. I also believe in manifesting too. I can say this book has helped me grow tremendously it’s so nice to know a solution and a realization of the mind. I never really viewed me as the observer until reading this book I knew I could separate my self from ego which I have learned is one of the many characteristics of the mind. I thank you for that. This book could be a serious breakthrough for humanity imagine a world we’re no one was ruled by there mind.

    Appreciate the book but the author speaks disdainfully about our inner dialogue. “Should I marry Tom?” Is your brain trying to solve problems and it is very good at it. It is only pathological if you lack insight or your inner dialogue is too loud and/or running under false pretenses. I highly suggest that if you have a big problem, let it simmer in the recesses of your mind for a few days and be amazed at the great solutions your mind comes up with.

      Sure! And kudos for putting timestamps on each chapter. Just sharing this, I recently watched Inside Out 2 with my daughter and I see a similarity between the movie's representation of "sense of self" and the way Singer describes psyche in chapter 14.

      The author clearly states that the mind percieves reality , which means that the lense u r looking through is the mind , so when u r looking through that lense u are eluded into believing that thoughts shape ur reality , change the lense (the thought) the reality changes , but the truth is u r living everything in ur mind , reality that u r percieving through that mind is just ...an illusion Ull need to dissipate the mind to see things for what they are ..they just are

    plain and simple - yet it's 5 HOURS LONG!!!! pls explain in what world a book this long is ""plain and simple"

    • @SurplusOfTime.
      @SurplusOfTime. 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Understood! Books/audiobooks are definitely longer than other methods of learning, especially on topics like spirituality/religion/philosophy. I think the 'Plain and simple' tag is referring to the language/concepts the author is using to convey and educate on what Buddhism is. Alot of other books I've read on the topic reference concepts that can be a bit harder to wrap one's head around and they try to cite very old and wordy scriptures/texts. Doing it that way is comprehensive learning, but it's also far more difficult for a beginner to understand (which I was at the time and still really am). Honestly, if you'd prefer something shorter I'd recommend just searching TH-cam for video-essays on Buddhism, that's how I began learning and it's far more concise when explained by somebody in laymans terms rather than an author writing a book. Then you can always try a longer text if you're interested enough afterwards!
