Bosch dishwasher repair - heater didn't work.
มุมมอง 41K4 ปีที่แล้ว
My ~2012 Bosch SHE68R55UC Evolution 800 dishwasher stopped heating its water a few months ago. The dishes wouldn't get very clean, mid-cycle the water was cool, and at the end of the cycle the dishes would not be steaming hot like they should be. After an unhelpful technician told me I probably needed a few fill valve, I took the dishwasher apart myself and found the problem: a failed relay to ...

Moby skis a green run
มุมมอง 7110 ปีที่แล้ว
This is Moby's 6th (or so) time skiing and he's going down a green run by himself. Seth bought him a little backpack that contains a leash, allowing a parent to hold the leash as a safety back-up while Moby skis on his own. This is perhaps his third run without the backpack. We're quite proud of how quickly he picked up the sport, especially given that he's only four years old.
Moby learns to ski

After a few runs on the bunny hill and a few runs on an easy green run between Mama's skis, this is Moby's first time skiing on his own on a green run. It's perhaps his third time on downhill skis.

At the time I was convinced the guy I was following was an instructor, since he kept looking back to see if I was still following him. Asking around afterward, none of the instructors knew who he was, and said if he wasn't wearing an instructor vest, he wasn't an instructor. I couldn't find his bike in the pits afterward, either. Hmm... I went into the gravel because before the apex of the corn...

That is a great video and explanation - thank you. I feel I need to learn the basics of electronics - research started!

I've seen many videos where people think just adding solder to the old relay is an answer. But that is just a stop-gap measure that buys some time & the problem will recur. The issue is with the internal relay contacts.

The under-spec-ed relay trick is a very popular one in the appliance industry.

MBAs: Why sell sell an appliance that last 20 years when you can sell an appliance that needs proprietary replacement parts every 3 or 4?

I will never call an appliance repair guy...UNLESS the appliance is still under warranty. It's way too easy to rip people off in that trade.

Thank you for the thorough detail about the relay and PCB. Your attention to detail is superb and beautifully explained. This video directed me to a failed solder connection on the reverse side of the PCB to the relay. It was a failed solder joint. The existing 10amp relay was fine and the fault was fixed by re-soldering the relay tab coming through to the other side of the PCB. May God bless you Seth LaForge. He blessed me by directing me to your video! 🙏

Thanks for your video. I have a Siemens dishwasher that is having this problem and presents the error E02 on the panel. I think that the cause is probably something like this because I had the same problem around 3 years ago and it solved by itself after a few days while I was waiting for the assistance to come. Does it make sense that it got fixed by itself? Maybe a connector slightly move and started working again and now failed again?

sounds good , I'll order one of those 16 A relays . Oh , i guess if I'm going to be doing some soldering , I better get a new bottle of MAP gas for my plumbing torch. 🙂

I have a Bosch shx series dishwasher that was not heating. I checked the control board and it looked fine. My board is easy to access behind the door. I ordered a new heater assembly after checking the resistance at the connector on the control board that supplies the heater. It showed open and should be 11.5 to 12.5 ohms. ( it turns out that you can't check the heater this way) After looking at the new heater assembly, they incorporate a flow sensor switch that is in series with the heater. I pull out the dishwasher and remove the right side panel to access the heater and measure the resistance. It checks ok. I then find a wire hanging loose and not connected to anything. After looking at the wiring diagram I discover that this wire comes from the control board to one side of the capacitor for the main pump motor. The spade connector had corroded apart and fell off of the cap, preventing the main pump motor from running properly. New five cent spade lug fixed the problem. I would suggest anyone with a no heat issue check the board as described in this video and also check the heater resistance directly at the heater before ordering a new heater assembly. It could be something simple as in my case.

Awesome video!! Last week was appliance hell as my microwave burned a flame sensor (there was no flame or excessive heat), my refrigerator lost the cheap plastic pins holding in the switch for the through-door ice dispenser, and my [Bosch] dishwasher failed to heat the water. In my case, it WAS the water inlet valve. I don't like being my best appliance technician (I'm not an appliance technician) and I appreciate helpful people like you making these videos. None of the videos out there directly solved my problems, but the approaches and clear thinking led me to about $600 in savings. The difference between the water inlet valve problem and the relay problem is that I had some heat and the dishwasher was always hot and steamy when it was done. With the relay problem, I would assume you would have no heat ever.

Probably, but I don't know. Find the relay that's broken and look up the part number. If you can find something with the same pins and voltages, and the same or ideally more current capability, it should work. digikey.com is a good resource.
