I never thought Flash humbled him in quite the way most think. Rather he gave a hypothetical to see how Superman would behave, but Superman didn't even have the wherewithal to begin defending his position, so far gone, or at least not thinking is he. Had he been in his right mind he would have pointed out no one walks into a school, lights up a smoke, and kills 5 people and then themselves with that smoke alone, Litterers are already adequately fined for their crime appropriately and petty littering is not what causes Earth's issues. So on and so forth with the other examples. The actual conversation should have been much longer and more thought out between them, but superman stumbles at the first hurdle signifying to the reader he's not putting the appropriate thought into his position.
