10/5/24. 230 lbs. TW: Post Helene devastation. Lessons Learned: Self-care is Not Selfish
มุมมอง 10หลายเดือนก่อน
TW: I will not be showcasing a lot of destruction in this video, just talking about related topics. I am noticeably upset, though. Correction: in this video I refer to the 200-year-old barn but it was actually a 200-year-old grist mill currently owned by a neighbor friend of mine. If you are watching this, I hope you and yours are safe and well. My family was very lucky. We are all safe and wel...

In this video I briefly mention one of my diagnoses: chronic obstructive asthma, which is a lot like COPD even though I've never smoked. I'll talk more about this in another video but I wanted this video to be primarily about making things easier on ourselves when we feel overwhelmed by combining different categories of things as we are able to. Sometimes you can combine something less fun like...

Things I forgot to mention in this video: I may do more walking and talking type videos if folks don't mind or even prefer because it saves me time. I can accomplish 2 things at the same time, so that's always good. I was able to stick to my goals of two meals a day this weekend and only 2 days where I allowed only sugar. Saturday was my wedding anniversary and we had to make an unexpected road...

My current intermittent fasting for health and weight loss protocol: September 2024
มุมมอง 12หลายเดือนก่อน
The one big thing that I did forget to mention in this video which I will talk about in upcoming videos is how I am weaning myself off of sugar / desserts. I currently allow myself a sugary dessert twice a week. I'm realizing how much sugar messes with my insulin which contributes to my health problems so that is why I am weaning down. More on this later...

Habit stacking: take a habit you already have that you rely on consistently (like making/drinking coffee) and pair it with a new habit you'd like to establish (like doing your daily PT stretches). This works especially well if you pair like items together like flossing and brushing.

Hi darling! I listened to the whole video and I can very much resonate and empathize with everything you are going through. I first started struggling with this issue back in 2012 at the age of 27 and didn’t get a proper diagnosis until 2019. I lost 30 lbs when I only weighed 108 to start with and it was a very dark scary time in my life. Doctors would gaslight me and tell me I wasn’t sick and I must be depressed, that I had an eating disorder (when I didn’t), and I looked fine so I must be fine. Also they told me to stop googling things and listen to them even though they wouldn’t do anything to help me! In 2016 I was diagnosed with pernicious anemia after having very high anti parietal cell antibodies, extremely high gastrin at almost 5,000, low b12 and the biggest issue I faced at the time was a severe iron deficiency with a ferritin of 2. The only reason I was diagnosed with PA was because I had asked my hematologist for the specific testing after years of my own research. Fast forward to 2019 I found a highly rated GI doctor and NET specialist about 4 hours from me (I also live rural) in the same hospital. I was having carcinoid syndrome symptoms (but to this day no NET has been found) so the NET specialist ran a bunch of tests and said my labs indicate I have the tumors but they are so tiny and haven’t been found. The GI specialist did a EGD/EUS and found I had autoimmune atrophic gastritis with metaplasia and Barrett’s esophagus. It has been a struggle since day 1, I was able to get my weight up to 95 lbs but it won’t budge beyond that. My upper stomach always hurts, I’m always nauseous and I do not have the ability to digest most foods which has been my biggest concern. I take a slew of supplements and have tried many things including HCL but just at a standstill. This disease is very frustrating and it’s very unfortunate there is not enough research on it or treatments. If you are on Facebook there is a wonderful group for this disease if you haven’t joined yet. We all discuss potential things that have worked and don’t and support each other. I just wanted to let you know I see you and I hear you and you’re not alone❤

Hi, I have the same condition with my stomach, I’ve lost over 10kg in one year, have patchy atrophy and factor and cells positive. They took the biopsies yesterday to rule it out but it is obvious what is going on. I have awful symptoms, it feels like my whole body is totally out of it.

@@consistencyiskey6268 hi! I had symptoms for more than a year but they have been ignored by the doctors. Really low appetite with fullness in my stomach. I really didn’t get any recommendation from the doctor that took the biopsies, I guess they want to see how far did the atrophy went and if it’s autoimmune in nature. I was tasted negative multiple times for h.pylori and since I have autoimmune bodies then it is probably that. Nothing really helps at this very moment, just trying to eat regularly with smaller portions but it is a struggle. Can’t handle any meat products, gives me a lot of problems in whole digestive track. I guess the key is managing the inflammation in the stomach somehow.. Not fun situation to be in. So sorry you have to go through it as well

One question that I’ve asked myself, as someone who has a tendency to “over share”, has been “What have I got to lose?” Another one has been “How could a nefarious individual harm me?” Lots of other questions along those lines have come to mind over time. Of course there are some in this world who decide that harming others is their goal. So be it. In the end, I’ve decided that not sharing what I have to say, is one of the ways that can be harmful, as it stifles my ability to be of assistance. I refuse to live in such a state of fear… I’m not standing in the street, raising a flag and saying “come get me”, mind you… but I’m also not one to be silent. Besides, if some “bad person” wants to hurt a little old lady who is simply here to help humanity as best that I can, that’s on them, isn’t it? Best wishes to you! Cheers 😊

Welcome! Thank you for sharing. So what if it took some time between filming and posting. What you’ve got to say is worth listening to. I’m off to watch the rest and catch up with you. I’ve got different digestive issues than you have. For me, the Paleo way is practically opposite of what works best for my body. Everyone is different, and it may take some experimenting on your part to determine what way of eating best suits your needs. I suppose that’s why the diet industry is as big as it is…. A dear friend of mine for over 30 years has been experiencing colorectal cancer. She has had surgeries, but decided that for her, a solution other than chemotherapy is in her best interests. She didn’t expect to make it to her recent birthday, but she did, and is feeling cautiously optimistic at this point. A book that’s helped her - and her MDs and Naturopath as she continues her wellness journey is How To Starve Cancer and then Kill It with Ferroptosis by Jane McLelland. Perhaps the information contained therein will help you also. Cheers, Monica
