Time Travel Reads
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 1 ม.ค. 2024
Hi. I'm a booktuber interested in history, fantasy, and other genres. I named my channel Time Travel Reads because I have always wondered what it would be like to bring past people to the present. I have an American history project reading from the colonial period onwards.

This is a book review of Overnight Code by Paige Bowers and David Montage. Raye Montage was a black woman who was the first naval engineer to design a ship by computer. She was finally recognized for her achievements at the same time as Hidden Figures came out.

Hello, you must be fine. I visited your channel and analyzed some videos. Your video quality is very good but your channel is not SEO done Properly, due to which channel growth is very low. Also, your video is not SEO done with rank tag SEO score is poor. In short, SEO optimizes your channel properly, and every video needs to be SEO which will promote your channel and double the video views
nice video
What an inspirational woman! Very good review, Melissa.
@@BookChatWithPat8668 Thank you!
Fascinating! I hope they make this story into a movie! It needs to be told in every way possible!
This is my favorite episode yet! The succession information was really interesting!
Chita Rivera was a remarkable singer/dancer/actress on Broadway. From a mini bio: "Chita Rivera won two Tony Awards as Best Leading Actress in a Musical and received eight additional Tony nominations for an exceptional 10 Tony nominations... She trained as a ballerina (from age 11) before receiving a scholarship to the School of American Ballet from legendary George Balanchine. Chita's first appearance (age 17) was as a principal dancer in Call Me Madam. Her electric performance as Anita in the original Broadway premiere of West Side Story brought her stardom, which she repeated in London. Her career is highlighted by starring roles in Bye Bye Birdie, The Rink (Tony Award), Chicago, Jerry's Girls, Kiss of the Spider Woman (Tony Award), and the original Broadway casts of Guys and Dolls, Can-Can, Seventh Heaven and Mr. Wonderful. On tour: Born Yesterday, The Rose Tattoo, Call Me Madam, Threepenny Opera, Sweet Charity, Kiss Me Kate, Zorba, Can-Can with The Rockettes. Chita was awarded The Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2009. She received the coveted Kennedy Center Honor in 2002 and is the first Hispanic woman ever chosen to receive this award. She appeared in two film musicals -- Sweet Charity and Chicago.Oddly enough, both characters were named Nickie. Ironically, two actresses who played the roles on film that she originated on Broadway won Best Supportring Actress Oscars -- Rita Moreno in West Side Story and Catherine Zeta- jones in Chicago. Chita died on January 30, 2024 at the age of 91.
@@KatJack-vl8xj Thank you! She definitely sounds interesting now.
Snow in August sounds right up my alley!
@@katsbooks2631 I hope you enjoy it.
Nice choices! I do hope you read the cozy mystery!
Thank you for doing my tag! Dinosaurs are a great things to be interested in! A great discussion about the non fiction and fiction sections of Booktube and very valid.
@@Bookishtravels1 Thank you!
Lovely to know your background and why you have passion for books!
Very thoughtul discussion. I wasn't consciously aware of this "cast of characters" trend, but then I remembered a book I was looking at that took that approach to discuss people's varying experiences through the years of Angevin rule. It was called "Tales From the Long Twelfth Century: The Rise and Fall of the Angevin Empire" by Richard Huscroft. Each chapter centered on a man or woman who contributed to the events. The author used these lives to illuminate the themes of the times.
@@KatJack-vl8xj Thank you. That sounds like a good book. I'll have to add it to my Historathon list.
Oh yes-that dinosaur stage! I remember carrying what seemed like hundreds of pounds of dinosaur books home each week when my son was young. I think dinosaurs are a nonfiction gateway drug for a lot of kids! What a moving discussion about how you moved from sort of a homeschool bubble to an awareness of racism etc.! Thank you.
@@HannahsBooks Thank you Hannah!
Good one! IMA do this tag 🎯 I too have very fond memories of librarians, from my youth; hell, they my "Google," back then!
@@bighardbooks770 Thanks. Yeah. Librarians are pretty cool.
I love the quote you shared!
_Dancing in the Streets_ sounds like a fun, community focused book to read, thanks for mentioning it. Great answers to the tag Melissa, thanks for sharing :)

This was absolutely lovely, Melissa! Thank you so much for doing my tag. I loved your selections for each prompt. Dancing in the Streets sounds like a book I would definitely like. I also really enjoyed hearing about your Literature Club in high school. I'm a longtime Peter Falk fan as well. Thanks again, Melissa!
@@BookChatWithPat8668 Thank you so much Pat. I hope you would like Dancing in the Streets. I've been thinking about rereading a little of the literature we read in that book club at some point.
_First!_ So great that you did Pat's tag 🎉 Big Peter Falk fan, here; yes, since "Columbo," and the classic film, "Wings of Desire," Paris, Texas," et. al, directed by Wim Wenders. 📼 Good one, Melissa (Allen, here) 😊
@@bighardbooks770 Thanks Allen. I don't know if I've seen Pater Falk in anything but The Princess Bride. I should fix that at some point.
Great list of possibilities, Melissa!

I loved reading about Katherine Johnson, what an inspiration. _Ninety Percent of Everything_ sounds awesome! I want to learn more about global trade, I'll have to add this to my TBR. Great list of possibilities for nonfiction November. Thanks for sharing, and Happy Halloween to you as well :)

Nice list of books. Thanks for sharing! Most of them sound interesting to me, but standouts include Code Talker, the Katherine Johnson book, Revolutionary Backlash, Ninety Percent of Everything, and Born in Blackness. Happy Halloween, and I hope you enjoy your November reading!

Seems like you have read quite a bit! Oh what a shame about the Tudor book not having the last chapter, most odd.
I looooove Listening to America podcast, and Clay Jenkinson's work in general.
@@GinaStanyerBooks He's great.
I think one way to keep from being depressed by a history book would be to always balance it with a novel or some other type of light reading. In other words, have a history book and a novel going at the same time. Read something from each on the same day.
@@KatJack-vl8xj Thank you.
Good advice :)
Sounds like you read a lot to me.🤓
Ooh very interested in the Shari Lewis book as Lamb Chop was my absolute favorite as a kid! I listened to the nonfiction book Sunny Days: The Children’s Television Revolution by David Kamp last year and I really enjoyed it a lot. Very interesting to revisit kids shows that I loved
Fascinating! So many possibilities for time travel. This reading is fun and creative!
I can’t imagine what modern books the Adam’s could take home that wouldn’t offend them in some way. Could I try to talk John out of The Alien and Sedition Acts?
@@BookishTexan You could try to talk them out of those terrible acts. I hope they'd listen. Thank you for watching.
I suppose it was better to be thought "saucy" than "yeasty," as some adjective-slingers evidently chose to characterize Dolley Madison. 🤔
Thank you for the recs ❤
@@jeeb2413 You're welcome!
That''s a very interesting idea. Usually, when people say "Film History," I think of the beginning of moving pictures in Europe and the US up to about the '60s or '70s. I don't know that much about TV history, just the broad strokes.
Thank you for doing the tag and great job making it your own!
