DARREN RICHARDSON 😊LOVE YOU ❤HAVE
That is quite a spectacular show.
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it
Went with friends to Tekno Train and it was a bit disappointing as we didn't see a DJ (Paul Mac). There were no speakers at the vestibule where people were encouraged to dance. The lights were mediocre considering it's part of Vivid. Adding some laser lights would have been nicer and volunteers dressed in some sort of neon dancing to encourage others would add to the atmosphere. Pretty lame most people were just sitting down while music was on. Considering it was the first time it was introduced, hope it gets better next year.
Definitely the experience could be better and also they could add a lot more to it hopefully next year they add more and make it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
More information about the compartment and what is available on the train, buffet car etc.
Hey there. I've done this trip during the day service, From Sydney to Grafton then rest of the way on Bris on the Bus twice now, so 2 to bris and 2 back. The buffet car is open all the time, except where crew changes are done, and after leaving sydney probably a good 15mins after it leaves sydney the buffet car is open. You can order lunch and dinner if your service runs at those times, Hot meals need 1 hr to cook, so get in early when they announce it as everyone will queue up when it ready, so be ready for that. Drinks, Hot or Cold, Coffee or soft drinks are available and confectionary, sandwiches, sausages rolls, pies (i think) is also available to snack on. Toilets are on the end of a carriage, check signs to see if its occupied etc. I think sleeper cars have shared toilet/showers per 2 sets of sleeper rooms. Mobile service is sporradic, in large towns is ok, If your going to pay by card for buffet car be aware theres sections where the Card service will not work, so bring some cash if it happens. usually you'll hear everyones phone chime when service is restored, but dont rely on service is working so bring entertainment downloaded on yoru devices prior, or sleep, read etc. If your travelling during the day run up the service usually gets into casino anywhere from 6:30pm~7:30pm delays pending. Assuming your going to brisbane you have a ~3:30hr-4hr bus ride to go. Recommend going to WC before leaving, bus toilets not great... when the bus leaves its usually going dusk in summer month or already dark in winter months. Also nice one @ 29:55 i heard that :)
@ERGTZ good Onya mate glad you enjoyed it
A great little video thanks for the memories i worked trains with the 60cl at Enfield and the motors on the branch to Richmond Carlingford Sandown the abbs.
No worries at all that sounds awesome definitely a lot of variety back then I’m glad you enjoyed the memories
7:26 Looks like the Vivid Organisers have just won a One-way Trip to the Boardroom. Somebody will be fired for the "Snap Cancellation"
It was annoying but not a lot can be done thanks for watching mate!
found the trip I took very boring. Between Sydney and Casino the scenery is very boring and you travel inland not on the coast. The trip was just okay. Wouldnt hurry too do it again.
At times it is quite nice scenery mostly between Maitland and Taree in between Coffs and Brisbane. It probably is the best scenery.
Brissie to Coffs is probably one of the best parts of the North Coast line, along with the Hawkesbury crossing IMHO - Going to miss the XPTs... Sleeping our way between the destinations on an XPT sleeper car is by far the most civilized way of interstate travel.
Yeah definitely. It is a really nice trip. I caught the XPT to cross Harbour and then flew from Coffs Harbour to Sydney and arrived into Sydney about five hours prior to the XPT
I know that this video was 6 years ago but do you know why the CEYs what on the goods line normally they come from the Blue Mountains I'm just wondering why because I've never heard of the c e y being on the goods line near Minto or even on the Main South
CEY locomotives are sometimes used on the main south line they are mostly used on the Maldon coal trains up near Picton mate it was a pretty rare occurrence tho cheers mate
@@railwayswithjames thank you. I don't think they run the CEY on coal runs from maldon anymore I think SSR lost that contract
@TheMainSouthSpotter yeah I believe they lost the contract it was once a common thing to see that train
Brings back the great days of steam.
Definitely I agree!
That was an awesome video - not 1 but 2 iconic steam locomotives - 6029 & 3526. To make it even more awesome you caught them running parallel - great catch. The 6029 is a huge beast of a locomotive. Just love the sound of the steam whistle - such a unique sound. I also loved hearing 3526 start to strain as it made its way up those inclines. What a great video & what a great view. Thanks for sharing
No worries I’m really pleased you enjoyed it thanks so much for watching was a fun day out!
Hi James. I took the XPT from Central to Tarana today, only 3 hours, and my bum was sore, and my poor legs were cramped, I'm 186cm, in first class. Got me rethinking my Melbourne and Brisbane trips, and bugger doing the day if only 3 hours leaves me feeling the way I did, sleeper FTW :) Even the crew said the sleeper was the way to go, and worth the cost.
Definitely mate I completely agree. Sleeper is definitely worthwhile.
Hi Did you get a fs passenger car or red lounge on the shuttles
I got a fs passenger car I hope you enjoyed it
Awesome video
Thanks heaps glad you enjoyed it
DARRENR 🏠 have OK yes ❤LOVE 😊
❤❤❤❤
Did you come back on the first train back or dose it stay there the night before it comes back
I came back on the same train a week later the train stays overnight in Longreach and runs twice a week although I came back in economy seating.
@@railwayswithjames i book it to go up then back the next morning
@liphornsby7842 no worries. It’s definitely a worthwhile trip.
Viewing from Canada 🇨🇦. Thanks for the tour. 🙋🏻♀️
No worries thanks for watching
The food try is disgusting, unbelievable , great video, i went on one from Sydney to Brisbane and took our car and we had mush better service then a card board box, it truly is just not right, it was better then that
yeah service does need to improve
There has to be a story behind the Elvis Express?
Yes next time I might include more info
🤗👋👋hello James 😊I am enjoying the video 🤗 Thankyou ☕️🥪🫖👌
I'm really Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching!
Very nice your TH-cam channel name❤😊
All the best with the name change. Perhaps have a look at tourist type trains - that would appeal to overseas visitors and hopefully also locals.
Thanks heaps, I will definitely have a look into that
It's sad to see a the end of emd R.I.P. SSR 4483
Definely mate sorry for the late reply
I reckon every tourist needs to take the train journey to Newcastle at least once. Only 2.5 hours journey and only just over AUD 20 one-way.
Definely a really scenic journey
Thanks for post
No worries mate, thanks for watching
Great shots of the trains. Thank you.
No worries glad you enjoyed it
why don't the drivers do 155km/h much anymore even when late most of the time maxes out at 130 (like in this video). great video mate
I’m not sure, but I have noticed that as well maybe they don’t like xpt’s travelling at the high-speed because of their age
Hi James, do i need to book a train ticket ahead of time before traveling via train, or no need and its just like an ordinary train travel which you just need to tap your card? Thanks
Hi, as this is on the regional nsw TrainLink you need to go to there website to book a ticket prior to travelling cards are not accepted abroad regional trains and buses head to NswTrainLink.info
Wow!! interesting train traffic there at Lidcolme. I lived in Sydney until 1981 and Lidcolme was a good interchange for me when heading on trains to the western suburbs.
Yeah definitely pretty busy at Licombe still a lot of traffic, I didn’t show all the bits of licombe station but there is also still shuttle trains to Olympic Park and trains to Bankstown
When I was living in Sydney, the trains that now go to Olympic Park, actually went to the Abattoirs. Possibly, that line then wasn't quite as attractive for tourists back in those days!! LOL. Incidentally, will the Lidcolme to Bankstown train service continue running after the Metro is extended to Bankstown from Sydenham?
The plan is for the Licombe to Bankstown line to continue running when metro is built thankfully
That is a relief. The people on that line may have enough problems after losing their direct train route to the city.
@RGC198 definitely mate
Nothing is " complimentary " It's all built into the cost.
Very true, I was just mentioning that it was included in the cost of the ticket so you don’t have to pay any extra on top of what is already being paid
Hi James, thanks for sharing an excellent video. I have travelled by train from Sydney to Gosford, Newcastle, Maitland and even Taree, though I haven't ever been to Brisbane by train. My last visit to Brisbane was way back in August 1973, and my dad and I flew there from Sydney, where we lived at the time, via TAA. Back in those days, there was no train connection between South Brisbane and Roma Street. Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
No worries, I’m glad you enjoyed it and it is definitely good to travel around 👌
Thank you. All the best to you and your family.
Thanks so much best wishes to you and your family as well

next time try not to have reflection in window, ridiculous, spoilt the scenery
Apologies about that regardless have you found the video enjoyable
absolutely not, a train ride/big deal have done many train rides and clear views without reflections@@railwayswithjames
Did you go to the pub for the $10-00 lunch special? I always had bangers, mash, veg and gravy, good feed. Bangers used to come from the butcher in Molong, very nice, not like the supermarket shite. I presume you visited the museum which has a lot of railway history? It's in the former Stationmasters house near the flour mill shed. Interesting video.
Yes I did go for a nice pub meal. Also it was great to have a look around the town of Manildra. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching
Nice little compilation James of the old Clunkers, you need to buy yourself a cheap tripod to remove the shake & wobble, started feeling seasick a couple of times! Takes the train around eight or nine hours to do that trip Tottenham-Bogan Gate now, it was all flooded Nov 2022 and still not fixed today, lot of 10-30KMh speed restrictions on it as far a Yethera.👌
Definitely mate I have just got a new tripod, you should start see improvement in future videos I’m glad you enjoyed the video
