There is some truth in it. Rehman is not trained in Hindustani n Carnatic Classical music, his training is in Western music. May be this is the reason Tollywood n Bollywood classic melodious touch is absent from his music. Also great influence of Muslim music frequently appears in his music. Nevertheless some of his songs are simply heart touching e.g. Satrangi Re , Tu he re etc. But the saddest part is he got grammy for the most mundane n common place Gulzar song Jai Ho. This shows West is yet to underdstand the fine nuances of Indian music. Kumar Shanu is a Legend in his own right loved n respected by millions of Indians n other Hindi knowing people the world over. Suresh Wadekar met the same fate at the hands of Rehman. Both have a reason., probably he wanted to introduce western work culture in Bollywood , this did't go well with most of the people, Bollywood runs on respect n love whereas Rahman was methodical. ❤❤❤
