Sunset 3rd Rail Anniversary Series Rio Grande L-105 Challenger. This is #3708, painted as a 'late' variant with chevrons and flying lettering. Not much video of this model out there. This is one of 50 made in 3 Rail. The real 3708 was involved in a grade crossing accident with a school bus in Riverton, UT in 1938: www.drgw.net/info/ICC2315

I caught the UP Big Boy #4014 on its way to Denver. It now has a twin beam headlight and the whistle sounds a little different. Oh, and covers on the bicycle chains :) Sorry for the bouncy video, I forgot the attachment for my tripod and I set the image stabilization too high on the first clip, which caused some lag that made it hard to keep the train in the shot. Hope you enjoy!

A quick video of the recently released Lionel Legacy AC-12 #4294 running with the 3rd Rail Texas & Pacific #610. The 3rd rail model was relettered to represent Texas & Pacific #610 as it appeared in service, post-rebuild. I stripped the Union Pacific lettering and added custom decals to complete the transformation.

I did the same with a Pecos River ATSF hudson. I need to figure out a solution to allow me to program it and then get the chuff cam sorted out maybe.
The LokProgrammer made programming a breeze. The ability to run the decoder from the PC allowed me to dial in the chuff very quickly, all without leaving the workbench. I recommend it if you’re investing in ESU decoders.
@@milehirail8877 Oh i have one and use it alot with the upwards of 100 I use in my Ho models. Its the fact I failed to program it fully before soldering it all up with the bridge rectifier setup I use in line for the track power.

I wish my ho scale one had smoke in the rear stack but the o scale one is rly cool!
Something tells me, Lionel should make some refinements on their FEF-3 models. The biggest refinement (if I may suggest) is the mechanical lubricator going up and down when the locomotive is in motion.

Can you imagine this highly detailed locomotive outfitted with full Legacy including whistle steam and pop-off steam with the proper Hooter whistle? The only thing remaining would be to get rid of those oversized flanges and put scale flanges on all wheels. With today's track systems, it would operate just fine.

I don’t think much of the sound. I have MTH’s HO version of this and I can freak out the neighbours with its rich full bass sound.
Wow .. very nice re the Great Western version. I did manage to get the Seaboard Airline Version (wanted the Strass but dealer was sold out and actually the SAL looks pretty damn good). For the paint on the front classification lights .. is it Tamiya product # Tam81526 and then for black, is it Tamiya Product # 81301 .. if not .. what are the correct product numbers and then go into detail on the mixture percentages
Thank you, I've been using X-26 Clear Orange (81026) mixed about 1:1 with any black acrylic. I think for the 90 I used Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black. Start by mixing equal parts orange and black, then adjust ratio to your liking. On this 90 it's around 3:1 black to orange. I have the engine powered up with the white class lights on while painting so I can verify results instantly. Best part is the paint will also tone down the bright green lights without affecting the color. Haven't seen the SAL version yet but I'm sure it looks real good, just like this GW version. Enjoy!

I have to say I really like what you did with the classification lights. Did you paint them that color or did you do some other type of modification?
On newer Lionels with the bicolor class lights, I'll paint the lenses with tamiya clear orange and some black to get the effect you see in the video. It also helps subdue the laser beam effect of the green class lights without altering their color.

Yeah, I designed the shell and details in Blender then printed them out. I used an older MTH Premier aux tender for the chassis
