      If you are referring to macro counting, the Macrofactor is KING for this. If you want free only, FatSecret works well too

    The No cow Birthday cake flavor is the shit. I recommend those. Met RX and Pure protein bars I get at a discount store for anywhere from .50 to .80 so I’m always eating those as a frugal man haha.

    All your points are great. Must always be mindful of each element going into your food. However, I find a lot of people tend to over complicate the process and think to be mindful, you must also complicate the process of cooking/ shopping. 90% of issues with portion control and serving sizes is to have a food scale... Yet so many people that go into this journey/ lifestyle don't use one.

    My fitness pal has barcode scanner in free version here in Europe. But I'm using it because I can simply quick add calories, instead of finding foods every single time. Haven't really found that in other apps.

    Yeah with eating out you have no idea how they cook all your food. I’ve seen the cooks lazily prep foods in a fryer that should be grilled on a grill you never know

    Calories are a thermal heat measuremnt which is rediculous to relate to a human body. Your body doesnt "burn calories" it uses chemical processes to absorb amno acids and disperses micronutrients in many ways.. Most modern food "health science is JUNK science. What your body really needs are protiens and saturated fats and NO carbs, fiber or sugars.

    Protein shakes should not only be considered as dietary supplements but can also help to reach the protein level of 1.5-2 grams per kilogram of body weight when training. During the rest phase, the body then has enough protein to repair the micro-tears in the muscles and thus build muscle mass. Can protein shakes help with a diet? Yes, why? Because on a strict diet, there is a risk of not meeting the daily protein level, and the shakes can prevent this. Important: The calorie deficit determines whether you lose weight or not

      I use protein shakes as a meal replacement as part of a lower calorie diet to lose weight. I'm not a gym rat nor am I overly concerned with getting a muscular physique, I'm just shrinking my waistline. My go-to shake is 12 oz of almond milk with a scoop of plant-based protein powder, a quarter cup of oatmeal, and either a banana or a handful of frozen berries all blended together. It's really helped me out. Down 35lbs so far

    Fit Notes: free gym app to build your own programs. I have yet to find something better at a free price point (does custom exercises, sets, reps, weight, and rest timer then takes all that data so you can analyze it by seeing volumes, sets per body part, etc.). If anyone knows of something better feel free to reply and I'll try it.

    Just started using alpha progression (free version). Outstanding. So much easier to plan an entire 12 week periodization program. I usually write them out in a note pad. I made 3 Block plans based on my 12 week program. Named them main gains 1-4, 5-8 and 9-12 as weeks. programs changing exercises every block. Smashed this out very quickly. Next 12 weeks set. I tried the app yesterday in one off workout. Was very happy. Some exercises are missing. But nothing major. Just very specific variations (deficit pendlay rows for example. Normal pendlay row is there). It does need more athletic style exercises, not just body building moves. I would like to see more calisthenics exercises and explosive power stuff. eg, gymnastic moves, more kettlebell moves and explosive power and strong man exercise such as using medicine balls, wall balls and sandbags. I love it. looking forward to seeing the app grow.

      For bulking purposes, Anabar, MET-RX Bars (in general), and MRE bars are decent since on average they have more calories. Flavor/taste is subjective

    How do you add the calories of the meat though? I eat 90/10 ground beef. I make 5oz (raw) burgers. Package says 4oz equals 240 cals. So what am I actually having? What if I want to portion it out for the family in something other than a burger?

      Generally I just cook the meat then weigh it. Because if I ever have left overs, I can rely on the weight of the cooked meat than raw. But both methods can work
