"Everyone has one!" tells alot about where you're from.
Pump these babies to the mooooon! 🚀💰💰💰
You are very correct. Absolutely. Any store that would Qualify me as a buyer is just crazy.
I wont wear a rolex for the same reason i wont buy and drive a ferrari. Most people driving one are only doing it do they can be seen driving it. Any high end car is of course recognized. But its not shouting hey lookee here. Same problem wearing a rolex. Id much rather wear my vacherons or breitlings.
The Hulk, where's like a GMT
I've always liked Tudor, but I'd never buy one. For the money, I'd just get a used Omega. Also, for a "normal" person like me who cannot afford a massive watch collection, although I like the dial color, it's so out there that it would never make my three-ish watch collection.
Never let any stranger touch you or come within close contact distance, regardless of whether traveling or in home turf. Greet people with a wave or fist bump if necessary. Maintain distance and be ready to tee off in an instant. To be honest, leave the expensive watches at home and wear a simple, discreet watch when traveling.
I traded a new speedy saphsand and the orange bezel PO (Solero) for a 124060 then got the call from the AD for one at retail. I took the retail to get my spend up and moved the grey on. Anyway, having worn the sub for a while now I see that it was a huge mistake to trade those Omegas in. That orange bezel popped like crazy and everyone commented on it. Nobody even notices my sub. The bracelet on the speedy was stunning and so refined.
1.2mill is scares when 9bn people want a Sub!
Would not give up my Omega speedy for any Rolex
Looked at one. Bought a Tudor. 🤷♂️
Steer well clear of Londonistan with any visible items of value.
That guy that lost his Rolex was pretty stupid. I travel with my watches, I stay away from seedy places and I don't have a problem.
I’m probably crazy, I like the Speedmaster more. I also, only like the zenith Daytona w/ the white dial. I know I know
The Zenith Daytona is my favorite Daytona version... and one of my favorite Chronos of all time! - Jason
@ what is your favorite color?
Hey is Felix still here?
Yes... he's still here. Editing away and helping make content - Jason
Amen
Legit perspective, nice call on the GO PanoMatic lunar! Those who know… 😉
ZERO Vancouver Tudor dealers have gotten ONE SINGLE CHRONO since the release of the chrono... This watch will sell five times over retail by the end of the year. They are OFFICIALLY pulling the Rolex scarcity bullshit with Tudor now... PERIOD.
Nailed it. This is the beginning of games by Tudor now. We'll see how it plays out - Jason
WOW. You nailed it. They ALL look the same. Great job.
It is just the way I do it, well explained.
I’ll just stick to my good old seikos
I used to travel with my coke GMT. Had no concerns with it for years and years…until perhaps the last 7 or so years. The only places I’ve taken one (and I never take more than one) decent watch is Switzerland, Dubai or Northern Scandinavia. Switzerland I figured the watch would be ten a penny and a generally lower crime rate, so it would be less locally desirable. Dubai, well, the penalty for stealing can include having one’s hand chopped off…or worse…so you’ve got some built in safety in places like that. Northern Scandinavia there are both less people and due to the harsher conditions, less likely to be places where people want to hang around in smaller communities to steal from fewer tourists, all whilst getting cold. Maldives is probably fine too - no-where to escape to!
I absolutely love my Hublot classic fusion moonphase. The build quality is every bit as good as Rolex (which I also own)!
The quality you get from Hublot for the money is absolutely insane, honestly. I'm a sucker for a moonphase too! - Jason
I’ll start with what I disagree with… False scarcity - Rolex make 1.2m watches a year…but there’s an insatiable demand likely to the tune of many many many more millions for that years production. It’s not scarcity of supply, it’s over demand. There’s plenty of supply if you look in grey market windows but they’ve been charging what they can get away with. A lot of people however, don’t want to pay it. None of that is the fault of Rolex. AD interrogation - I agree no-one enjoys being vetted to buy a product, but whilst you may be a watch enthusiast and aren’t a flipper, how do they know that until they ask? If they already know who you are…then the interrogation isn’t happening. They have so many people walk in asking for the same thing, in a sellers market they can both determine who are potential repeat customers and weed out those who are just there to make a quick buck from flipping. Again, this isn’t the fault of Rolex - blame the flippers. Everyone has one so they aren’t unique/special - you’re complaining that it doesn’t feel unique, yet you still seem to want one and are frustrated by not being able to get one when walking in off the street as a random customer. Why are you shopping for something you don’t want to be seen wearing like everyone else? Rolex aren’t special, lack complication or suitable finishing for the money - you’re right here…but people still want/buy them. Why would they spend more on developing the watch or reduce the price if demand still massively outstrips supply? Rolex are boring - I see what you’re saying…and I’m on the fence. Objectively, yes, there is objectively less variability other than small details. That said, they clearly have a signature look/style…and why would a brand change that? AP are arguably worse when it comes to this point - but they make less watches, so perhaps it’s more excusable. Other brands outside watches will have their signature look. Take Porsche for instance. However, Omega stand out as an example of how to do variation well as there is ample visual and functional choice in the Speedmaster series alone. Could Rolex do more…probably. Have they done so in the past….possibly. Should they….possibly. Will they…doubtful. Now for what I completely agree with… Rolex customers - Rolex was always a well known brand globally and used to be a symbol of achievement or appreciation of quality etc. It still is that for a similar amount of customers but there are now vastly more customers whose primary objective is status and without association to any measurable success or indeed anything particular. Vast numbers of people would have no clue or care about watches in general a few short years ago…now everyone seems to, everyone is intentionally building a collection, knows the value of it at all times…all without any real knowledge or appreciation of the watches and the history of the brands or the development of various functions and capabilities etc. That is frustrating to some degree. There’s an old UK comedy called The Fast Show, where one guy becomes a Football supporter for the most popular team and has no real clue of appreciation of the game, he just knows it’s popular and ‘the thing’ to be into. There are many frustrating parallels with watch buyers now. Whilst the above looks like massive disagreement…as you are levelling a lot of blame at Rolex (the seller) for things that are the fault of the buyer…I do share your frustrations with the difficulty in getting what you’re after as a willing, paying customer and the huge shift in perception when buying and wearing something you’ve been into for decades - which way more people now will be dismissive of and make assumptions about your desire to show off, follow the trend and basically be the kind of customer that you’d actively despise. This does tarnish the perception of the brand for me (but again, not the fault of Rolex) although not the wearing experience and enjoyment of using the watches. I’m more than happy wearing mine under a sleeve, totally hidden and in places no-one will notice or care, if anyone is even there at all. Anywhere that has a lot of people and certainly a watch show/event, I tend to wear something else, something far less expensive, less well known and generally something 20+ years old, so no-one notices, cares or makes comment. People do tend to assume you know nothing and can’t afford things when wearing a cheaper watch…but that soon changes when you start discussing detail. I find it better than people making the same assumption as well as adding on the belief you’re also a sheep looking to flex.
This has to be the longest comment we’ve ever received!… lol. I’m fine with disagreements and enjoy the different perspectives and conversation. So I appreciate you adding your thoughts. You said something that stood out the most to me, that basically… it’s frustrating to either desire or own a watch (Rolex) for years, to now only be put in the same bucket of show-offs wearing their Rolex’s. Frankly, it’s the worst part of it. And as a watch collector it’s makes me angry. But hey, there’s many other watch houses to explore, which I do on a daily basis. In this video, that’s my actual Rolex collection, so there’s no frustration over not being able to buy them… because I have a good relationship with my local AD. Appreciate it again and look forward to seeing you around in the comments or on our Patreon. Thanks 👊 - Jason
@ Ha, yeah, apologies for the lack of brevity - I got carried away! I’d agree - it is indeed the worst part of it and does make me angry too. There’s almost an element of feeling like you need to explain that you’re actually into watches and aren’t just following the latest hype trend. The one thing that I think does help distance oneself is when you wear older watches - an aluminium bezelled Rolex which has some patina, bezel ghosting etc to it. That at least does suggest you’re not new to it all - as most of the least desirable customer characteristics tend to exist with the newest watch purchasers. Sub incoming (subscription I mean…I’m not sending you a Submariner!)
@@TheWatchBros One other thought, which kinda sums it up neatly, is that this on many levels is an example of ‘The tragedy of the commons’ (worth Googling). Basically, the tragedy is that the value derived from something diminishes as more people pile into it (‘It’ being the ‘common’ thing). It’s not exact for the entire Rolex experience…but it a useful and well-studied topic to explain how one feels about certain things.
Haha... I'll take either type of Sub 😜 I also agree... one of my favorite Rolexes is my 4-digit (birth year) 1675 GMT Master I. It's a special piece for me in my collection, and like you said, it gives me an opportunity to actually talk watch nerd stuff if someone asks about it, lol. - Jason
@@TheWatchBros Birth year 4 digit GMT is certainly a conversation starter for those with any level of watch appreciation. In fact, it’s probably quite a good filter to weed out anyone not interested in watches but who otherwise flexes with them. They’d just not be interested in ‘an old watch’. I’ve a 5 digit coke, although not my birth year, bought in the good old days when you could just walk into an AD and buy it. The bezel is fading nicely after a couple of decades of constant wear. Would go as far to say it’s my best (most prized) and most comfortable watch - one I would be heartbroken to lose. It’s an heirloom piece to hand down…yet not treated like a delicate relic. I make sure to enjoy it daily/weekly.
Firstly respect for the Vid. This is so true. I had and have several Rolexes , Omega and other watches. Rolexes are boring and hyped up. Omegas are way better. I just acquired an Omega Moonshine and wow its amazing. And the Omega Ultra Dive watch just blew away the Rolex Deep Sea dive. Rolexes.... are such a BS.
Thanks for the comment and adding to the conversation. Omega hands down makes a better watch, but unfortunately, Rolex controls the marketing narrative. We’re glad you found us and look forward to seeing you around the comments or Patreon - Jason
There’s no alternative to the Daytona.
Well… that’s not true - Jason
Yes, Rolexes are quite 'bland'... but people fall for the illusion of luxury and the freedom of the jetsetter lifestyle.
Hublot above Rolex and Tudor. It seems it's a thing to hate on old Rolex. And putting Hublot above it? What a joke!
Not a joke at all. Hublot makes better and definitely more interesting watches than Rolex. It’s just the truth. Now we can argue over design language all day, but that has nothing to do with quality and innovation. Hublot isn’t a watch for me, but that does mean I should deny it’s place in the industry - Jason
A watch designed for rich suckers
Perception is often far from reality.
I have FC highlife chrono and I really love it. ❤ It has unique and stunning dial with an excellent movement. I really recommended 😊
🙌… love this piece! It’s an amazing chrono for the price - Jason
I think by "reverse strap orientation", they mean tail on top and buckle below. Grand Seiko when supplied with leather straps are set up like this in Japan. When I was in Japan in 2023, I asked one of the salesman in a Japanese department store that sold Grand Seikos. He didn't speak a word of English but he tried to explain it as best he could. I just smiled and nodded. I'm not even sure if he understood my question. LOL
Haha... I love this story! I can imagine it now 😂. Yeah, I had an article that was explaining the different ways to wear a watch, and it suggested the actual watch was turned around. I had a Breguet Marine Big Date that had reversed straps... it actually was kinda cool. - Jason
@@TheWatchBros the only time I have seen the watch upside-down was in some Instagram ads where the watches were being worn by models and the closeups of the watch required them to be worn upside-down so the poses (like hands-in-pockets) would have the dials in the right orientation for the viewing public. The photos made me think the photoshoot was run by non-watch-enthusiasts.
Oh, no doubt they had no interest in watches lol - Jason
Perhaps rolex sucks but in facts, compare with jaeger lecoultre, blancpain, breguet, vacheron constantin, pateck philip o any other luxury brands, rolex is more afordable in lrice then any other,so i prefere to say that luxury watches sucks, not only rolex...😉
All of those brands you just mentioned hand make and assemble, if not all of the watch, a majority of the watch. That's a massive difference than an assembly line produced and all machine made watch in Rolex. There's really no comparison and a shame that Rolex is even considered a luxury brand - Jason
@TheWatchBros perhaps, but in secondary market, all the other luxury brand loose 50% or more of the price, only rolex stay very stable or even more expensive.i just think luxury watches are all too expensive
@@micaljimenez7381 I agree that any luxury good/item is overpriced from the onset. Rolex as a whole doesn’t hold its value; only certain pieces and specifically certain combinations of dial and case material. But as a watch collector, I’m not in the hobby for investment. So while value can play a small part in my buying decisions, it’s usually very small to non existent - Jason
@TheWatchBros of course,i am not thinking in rich collector,my point of view will be very diferent,i am thinking in entry level price for people who love watches but cant buy a patek nautilus full gold...if you see entry level cartier for example you have the ronde solo automatic for 5500€,omega is more expensive than rolex entry level, the first price for iwc is 7500,impossible to find a breguet, blancpain, ulysse nardin under 10000 for entry level, reason why i am looking for rolex oyster perpetual,41mm in black for only 6500...with no limits in budget i will buy minute repeater ulysse nardin,a royal oak a patek nautilus a very nice gerald genta, daniel toth, piaget duoface, bulgari octofinissimo and more and more...but i cant...of course if you propose to offer me a watch i will accept to see that rolex sucks😊
Haha... if this channel and our youtube career takes off then you may see me gift a watch or two 😜. Yes, I agree with you that it's hard to find something that feels luxury at a reasonable price... something that is truly an entry level price. I like Longines alot for this entry luxury arena. They have some exceptional pieces at very fair prices. If you're interested in Omega then I would look on the used market from a reputable dealer, because you can find some great bargains. - Jason
lol lots of wrong info at the Baltic section
Yeah I know. Unfortunately we were all rushing to get this video out, and I got some stuff wrong. The video in whole is stands, but I missed on the Baltic. I'm not perfect obviously, but I strive to do better going forward. - Jason
@ you good man. Still a very professional video
@@juanb7808 thanks bro… appreciate that 😉 - Jason
I love my tricompax by Baltic.
A superb piece at that price point - Jason
Tudor can’t get too funky. Watch fit fine but that slide slab is a turn off. I have a 97 year model chrono, it’s perfect and happy I own one before they blow up
You just nailed it with the side slab. It's gross honestly, lol - Jason
Sugess chronograph homage is a good one. Ali Express.
I'm not comfortable buying a serious watch from Ali Express, but I'm sure some of the viewers would like to check this out. I have thought about buying the parts and pieces from AE and building a watch though. I think that could be a fun video - Jason
@@TheWatchBros That $1,600.00 Baltic with a Seiko VK64 movement is not a serious watch. That $400 Sugess with a fully mechanical Peacock movement is!
Maybe it's because I've had a couple bad experiences buying off Ali Express... but the idea makes me hesitant. If we make a video on building a watch, then I might buy one just to see. Maybe do a video on it and then offer it as a Giveaway for our Patreon subs. Appreciate you adding to our comments section! 👊 - Jason
Excellent video, this needed to be said, been saying this since 2016 and NOTHING has changed with them. Rolex is not a tool watch and it is terrible at luxury watches. (I like my 39mm Explorer, but I don't LOVE it). Social media, and influencers have made it even worse. The last Rolex AD I spent a minute with was in the HK airport in 2019....Rolex = Boring. My 5167 Aquanaut , I wore for 7 years and no one noticed 😂 except one elderly gentleman who was wearing a 5726 black dial and was loading the back of his SUV with two cases of wine....what a guy! He said "ah you have good taste" He was on his way back to his beachfront villa...now that is luxury living.
Alternative usely means alot cheaper, Zenith is probably same price originally and a way better watch😒😏
I wanted to give options on both sides of price point. I agree, the Zenith is absolutely a better chronograph - Jason
@TheWatchBros glad I educated you
Did you think I thought the Daytona was better? - Jason
@@TheWatchBrosnope you just didn't think keep safe😊
I agree with the lazy move issuing a new colour. Thinner case would have been a game changer for Tudor, as is for the rest of their range too. Failing that, maybe titanium so you don't feel the hefty weight on the wrist. Ive nothing against Tudor, I own 5. I just think they have ridden the crest of the wave from covid. New releases sold above list and now they need to change the recipe to maintain a level of success. Hype dissipates when innovation slides. I see the same with Rolex if they aren't careful. Other brands have adapted. Omega have, but almost with too many releases. A careful balance of innovation with key pieces without swamping the market is the way to go.
Perfectly said... I agree with everything you just said. I hope Tudor steps up on the next releases and stops riding the coattails of their past success - Jason
Great collection, love it. Thank you for sharing. Wondering if you have or had any Grand Seiko in your collection.
Appreciate that and I'm glad you liked my collection! I don't have any GS in the collection. I've handled many, but just never pulled the trigger on one. - Jason
@@TheWatchBros I fell in love with Spring Drive movement, finishing, gliding second hand and GS dials. I bought the SBGA111 anniversary edition with one of kind dial that looks different at different angles and light. There is a small hidden GS Lion close to the 2 o'clock position which is only visible at a certain angle. To my knowledge, it is the only GS with text on the haute like Rolex. You have some amazing pieces in your collection and that's when I noticed the missing GS:) th-cam.com/video/IQHRcgshjf4/w-d-xo.html
Yeah, that's a special watch! I love that dial! My problem is the case architecture. I'm just not a huge fan how the lugs come off the case. I'd like to see a more elegant case design and less sport. When I think of everything GS does, movement, dials, and finish work... I think dress watch. Yet they've put all of this in a sport-leaning architecture. I'm sure I'll explore this brand in the future tho, as I'm always looking at them and admiring them from afar - Jason
Nice collection, thank you for sharing.
Enjoy the lovely watch, looks very nice in rose gold.
It's the nicest chronograph I've ever owned - Jason
Missed TAG’s glass box
I love that piece, but I left it off intentionally, because I think I'm going to have it on another list that I'm working on - Jason
im suprised the omega speedmaster (especially white dial) was not included in the list.
Fantastic watch! I thought it was too obvious so it didn't make the list... this time 😉 - Jason
Thank you for your honest, brave and very well-articulated video. Every point you raised was logical and resonated well with me. Someone had to tell the Emperor about the missing clothes😀
Thank you. I don't think most people realize how against the grain this video was when I released it last year. Thanks for supporting the channel and check out our IG and Patreon as other ways to connect 👊 - Jason
@@TheWatchBros I agree and that's why you must be brave and honest to say what you said. I truly enjoyed it.
I think you missed the Tudor chronograph 😊 it is another excellent watch alternative to Daytona
I covered this in our last BTL episode on the new Flamingo Blue release. Take a look and watch when you get the time. Thanks - Jason
Great List! My favorite is the Zenith with its amazing dial and time-tested movement. The second choice is the Seiko with a lovely dial and movement. Thank you for a lovely video!
Yes!... That Zenith is just superb 🤌 - Jason
Ah my favourite topic. Especially for people that already enlighted from ROLEX obsession and FOMO trend. Really enjoy your video. 🤜🤛
Awesome... we're glad you enjoyed the topic and video 😁 - Jason
It will definitely be the ZENITH!
