People have a bad habit of patting themselves on the back for bringing people into a country as some kind of charity, without any regard for how to do it properly. 1. The problem is people who aren’t fully integrated into society will suffer negative consequences. 2. The metrics & red flags include: • Spatial concentration _(ghettos, ie a little italy, china town, etc - public housing can be a major problem)_ • Language acquisition _(original language is usually lost by the third generation)_ • Intermarriage rates • Naming conventions • etc 3. Obstacles/Solutions: • Immigrant gateways are necessary. In America these are places like NYC or San Fransico which have developed self sufficient local communities which can sustain new migrants from the given culture. Government programs don’t tend to work because they’re not self sufficient and don’t require the integration to become self sufficient. • “Replenishment” Continued migration resulting in second/third generation marrying new migrants. spatial concentration doesn’t help this. ________ One could objectively look at German data and evaluate immigration policies pretty quickly. The bigger problem for Germany would be overcoming its own political optics in mitigating migration waves.

Why is it that the focus is always on _”the Germans”_ and not the State? Do Germans today really identify that closely with the current government? If not, why is there such a connection to the government from the 1930s? It seems like an odd critique of the German people and not a critique of government more broadly. In America, I can cite exact government policies for T4 or 14f13, and the German nationality is totally irrelevant. We could discuss the Lieber Code and subsequent Hague Conventions regarding the trial and execution of partisans, but this is more oriented towards the machinery of government than directed towards a people. If anything, you’d think that kind of targeted speech would be frowned upon today.
