RBC didn't really think it through, these points are way too hard to use without going to the US first
do you have to pay for food and drinks or are they all complementary?
Love your content and I watch 'em all! But I believe there are some inaccuracies in this video. RBC Avion Infitite earns 1.25 points on all travel coded purchases not just through the RBC travel portal. Also all "Visa Infinite Avion" cards earn Elite Points. The "Ion" cards earn Premium. Premium points can't transfer to as many airline partners (only West Jet) as Elite points.
interesting...so when you say "you booked a flight on xx airline"...did you book it on Avion website, or on the specific airline website? and if on the specific airline website, how did you do that? Can you share pls?
I'm guessing Avion and Aeroplan are not a good mix at all right?
Your videos are so helpful! Keep them coming.
I would not pick a seat backed into a galley or lavatory. I did this and had to listen to the flight attendants chat, giggle and gossip for 7 hrs.
How to you get your use out of the $200 travel credit which is only available through the Amex Portal if you are transferring your points to partnered airlines?
how can i use this card in real canadian superstore ?
This didnt work for me
Thanks for the video, very well done. I was quite surprised and disappointed to learn the card comes with a 2.5% foreign transaction fee, despite the annual fee being so high. (The US version does not have a foreign transaction fee),
Do you think this card is still worth it even if I don’t spend the 10k? I travel about 5 times a year and this would be my first travel card but I don’t have any big purchases coming up to meet the requirements for the welcome bonus points.
Great video;thanks! If you transfer points and purchase trip with Aeroplan points, how do you get to use the fancy lounges if you don't purchase flight with Platinum Card. Do you have access to all the lounges just by holding the Platinum card or do you need to purchase flight in order to have access to lounges.
You get access by owning the card. Its part of the high annual fee.
You work for 40yrs to have $1M in your retirement, meanwhile some people are putting just $10K in a bitcoin from just a few months ago and now they are multi millionaires..🇺🇸.
Hello How are you earning such monthly? I was born a Christian, and sometimes I feel down on myself because of low finances, but I still believe I can still make it someday. As a beginner how do I go about investing into Crypto!.
I am 52 years old. I reached my first 100 thousand dollars in just 3 months. I started with 20k investing in Bitcoin ETFs and other dividend income. My medium-term goal is to grow my money investing forever for my business and children..
This year I reached 100 thousand invested in Bitcoin ETFs and other dividend income, it was exactly 1 year and 4 months, I already accelerated to reach 200 thousand, I think I will reach the goal sooner
How did you achieve this in a short period of time?
I would appreciate some advice please A. I am new to investing in stocks/cryptocurrencies. Can you guide me how to do this?
How do you link existing Hilton and Marriott accounts to your Platinum Amex to get the gold status?
Excellent! You’re an excellent (quirky at times) presenter. I giggled all the way through. Very informative Graeme. 👍🏻
Thank you! Would rather be quirky than boring (though I can't help it) :)
@ it’s all good Graeme. I’m complimenting you. 👍🏻
I love the Canadian focus Graeme. It’s what we need! 🇨🇦
good luck with getting that card and paying 800 every year
Thanks had it two years and it's been going great so far! :)
Imagine a flight attendant getting this card
I don't think they'd be eligible to use the card before a flight they are working, but would be amazing for all the non rev flights they could take!
That card is worth it for someone who travels at least 3 times a year, period.
Totally! If you're making use of the perks and points it's incredibly valuable.
Informative as always! Does the points multiplier for the supplemental card work the same as the regular card?
yes it does!
I am upgrading my Aventura gold to Visa infinite. I compared Aventura and Aeroplan for CIBC and settled for CIBC Aeroplan, was that a good choice?
Best way to redeem point from Canada to Malaysia ?
Dont these british airways avios expire?
6:00 Scotiabank Gold Amex gives 6x Scene+ points, and if used with the Scene+ rewards card, you get an additional 1x point for a total of 7x points for grocery shopping. It works similarly for other purchases like gas, etc. Doesn't this combination provide higher returns than the Amex Cobalt? I am trying to select an everyday card to build up travel rewards and I am down to these 2 options. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi thank you for the video! I'm curious how to use aeroplan points to book with partner airlines (e.g. cathay pacific). Do we do so via the Cathay website?
Compared to the crappy Air Canada, Cathay (and most other international premium airlines like Singapore Airlines or Qatar) is still way up there in service and onboard amenities.
They were supposed to give the pre departure in a flute glass.
Sooo helpful thank you so much! Do we need to have the exact cards you posted the pics of to take advantage of the transfers? For example, do you need the gold amex card or will the blue have the same effect?
You don't need the exact cards! Any amex that earns Membership Rewards points is transferrable (Platinum, Gold, Cobalt, Green)!
Really love your videos. Great information!
Thank you - that means a lot!!
Thanks for another great video. Any plans to do a detailed video on the best hotel rewards program accessible for Canadians? Looking for something that goes beyond the surface, that explains how to earn/redeem, points value, points expiry, points bonus, fixed chart pricing, and best hacks. Thank you.
No immediate plans but I will at some points. I think Marriott Bonvoy is the only one that really sticks out as they have Canadian Amex cards that do offer elite nights/points/benefits. Wish we had more hotel competition in Canada.
Keep making these bro
Appreciate it! I will!!
Amex Cobalt’s 5 points for groceries is over after 1 year…how do you get around that?
The 5x is not just for a year, there is a spending cap per month but it doesn't end after a year (speaking from both experience and general knowledge)
Run down of Amex Centurion Lounge are rubbish always full, no seating, not good food. Priority pass lounge are dodgy.
You're hilarious 😂 😂.
Most carriers give pre departure drinks in paper or plastic I think it's for safety. United does in its blue plastic cups on business seats .
BBQ is also pronounced Bar-be-que
cruise benefits won’t come with it unlike the American counterpart. On the us website, you can access to the Lufthansa business lounge, but on the Canadian website you can’t but we were able to get in twice. Another benefit people don’t know is Hilton hotel gold, you can get breakfast or breakfast credit depending on which one. Marriott gold became a garbage since 5 years ago or so. One thing to note that the priority pass using amex isn’t the same as priority pass using other cards and you cannot access to restaurants. In Canada, there ain’t much but in Japan Aus, USA or UK, there are some interesting restaurants.
do you have another video to talk about searching business class Aeroplan tickets for so many legging?
Great post Graeme, as always. The Canada vs International issue is always tricky, access to Maple Leaf lounges only gets you so far. In the past I've splurged for an Amex card with international lounge benefits, but I've also gone pay-as-you-go, e.g. paid 20 euros for a really great lounge in Istanbul.
You also get a rebate on NEXUS fee which is a great feature! There is also the concierge service which is a great time saver / from sending flowers for a special occasion to getting tickets to a show. They’ll do all the leg work for you. 14 yr member here
I wonder if the duty free shops cant sell alcohol until after 11?
What do you think about BMO airmiles?
How about flying enough to get Star Alliance Gold status or Oneworld Sapphire or higher status?
West Jet would NOT allow me into their lounge, more than two hours prior to their flight! The lounge was great. West Jet flights weren’t! 😩😆😆😆
The National Bank lounge in YUL has a very nice breakfast buffet. Nothing fancy, but good Eggs, Sausages and Fruit. Only been once at Breakfast time, so I can’t speak about other times/meals
Never went for breakfast but for dinner the food was poor & packed with people cause everyone has dragonpass
I'm curious if you know which lounges the 10 passes Wealthsimple offers covers? Do they cover all or just certain lounges?
Best suggestion, is to call them up. Most likely it’s a Priority Pass (or similar).
Awsome info which T D visa is the best Thank you I have Areo plan
I have been happy with my 2 credit cards for 15 years , but started watching videos like this , and decided to maximize my rewards . Even though I have an excellent credit score , and never paid a penny of interest to my Cd. Tire. Triangle Credit. card , they rejected me for their better card they provide . I found out it was because I didn’t ‘update ‘ the fact that I make $35 k more now , compared to when I initially applied for it . They said there was a discrepancy with the number on my existing card , opposed to what I wrote on my new application . I have to wait a year before applying for it again . We’ll see . Oh ya - Thks for posting this . Great video .
Just took a similar flight CX635 to Singapore, ordered the same tenderloin and it's served well done 😢 Who serves tenderloins well done?
